You sir are like the Bob Ross of DM crafting :D
Why thank you =)
theDMsCraft You are welocme good sir!
lovely trees Scotty, very ENT-ertaining video.
I get ENT...lol
I love these so much; I keep coming back to this, wondering...why don’t my trees EVER turn out this good????
Practice makes perfect.
DM Scotty outdoes himself again. Biggest problem with subscribing to DM'S CRAFT is that it keeps adding more must-do projects to my list!
You know it.
Trees and surroundings have been a lacking issues in most if not all of my groups sessions. I was shown your channel and immediately fell in love with it. Thank you for showing all these creations and mostly easy to do tutorials. Magnificent! Keep up the amazing work!
Will do, have fun.
Looks awesome, one thing though. Moss only grows on the side that faces north.
Oooops
I'm always impressed with what you can come up with using glue and TP. Takes some imagination and some skill to make this sort of stuff a reality and I'm glad you share it with us Scotty!
I love to share these ideas =)
What a great blend of esthetic appeal and playability.
That cluster of trees looks amazing! Wow! I see why you love them :)
Thanks much.
Awesome how you work with the papers like clay. Nice work Scotty and yes that intro is fun! Scotty corn approved :)
I like my corn.
At the beginning I was skeptical but man when you put a few together at the end... amazing! Awesome idea!
Glad you liked them...They are fun and easy.
I have been using print and fold dungeons for years after watching your videos for 2 days now I have rethought my game. I knew there were better options out there but not for very cheep. Thank you for showing that all these amazing creations can be done on a budget. You are quite amazing.
Very welcome...Glad you find the vids helpful.
Great solution to the eternal problem of tabletop trees! The usual ones either lose foliage in a flash (as you mention) or break and are difficult to store (if they are made of hard plastic). I've alway wondered why no one is making soft-leaf gaming trees.
Problem solved =)
Yeah rapid fire videos!!! I'm loving it!
pow pow
I have a new thing where I do a thank you to people who I find inspirational or who have been really supportive of my channel. This week it's you. Please take a look under Shout Out Sundays playlist. Thank you for all your bring to us, your humble viewers.
Just checked it out...I am humbled...thank you.
Great idea. It's a good compromise with foliage and space on the table.
Thanks, I really like these
Sorry to bother you, but when I make these, I seem to have problems. Do you fully coat your trees in hot glue, or only partially? My TP also seems to fall away from the tree. This might be because of my lack of watered down glue. Any tips?
I haven't tried the technique myself, so I can't answer your question. I would suggest getting on Dm Scotty's facebook group and post your question there and those who have tried it will be happy to answer your question in detail. Facebook group: Dm Scotty's Crafts and Games.
These are great. I used this idea for trees on my group's table. I used floral wire to create the branches.I twisted them up and coated them in hot glue. I wish I could have found the nice plastic leaves you have here.
ok...time to make me some trees :-). very cool craft again scotty!
Glad you like them.
AHEM....HAPPY TREES!!!! I'll try these this week!!!
Nice...make those happy trees.
LMAO! Love the 8 bit intro! That face at the beginning.. ROFL! Hilarious! :)
heh heh...thanks...I had fun making it.
If you really want to give that feel of super thick forest with a dense canopy you can make walls of trees with the sparse leafs on one side and thick solid canopy on the other just like they do in some computer games.
True
I am intreegued by this build! So great as usual, Scotty!
heh heh...i get it
Awesome trees! Great work as usual Scotty!
thanks much
Dude! These trees are the $#@! Wow Scotty! Ok, so I made the gelatinous cube and it came out sweet! These will be done this week! THANKS!
I'll be trying this out soon! Great video
Glad to hear it have fun.
These look wonderful. Thanks for the tutorial.
So very welcome
I love the energy of your videos!
Thanks so much. I enjoy making them.
Trees have always been something of a conundrum. Great solution!
Very welcome.
Very great work! ^^
Are you going to make a tutorial for those bushes and logs seen at the end of the video as well? I would love to learn how to make those too! ^^
Log is just a dead tree branch. here are the bushes.
ua-cam.com/video/6Fc3UyzyCss/v-deo.html
Ah Thank you ^^
The trees look awesome thanks for sharing
Very welcome.
if you do some searching at the dollar store you can find some good stuff too.
Sure can
Wonderful!
Thanks so much.
Great one! wondering how to do them for 6mm terrain
Just roll up the tubes to make smaller trunks.
Any suggestions for speeding up the drying process for the white glue + paper tower stage? its kind of a buzz kill to have to wait like 4+ hours for it to dry.
A fan can really help...I work on a second craft while the first dries that way you are sitting around waiting for something to dry.
I love how low budget you are making everything. I imagine you could make an entire game set for under $100
You know it.
I love your work.
Thank you...So glad you enjoy it.
if you wanted the trees to look dead could you paint gray with some white highlights?
Very true.
Hey Scotty, I often wonder about these things … That tree looks really dark on my screen, and in fact most crafts made by most crafters really do in videos. I wonder because a lot of people want wood to look old (so dark and weathered) and dungeons are supposed to be dingy and grimy… And with some crafters I'm pretty sure 50 shades of black is a style choice 😁 but still… I know that a key to making things work at mini scale is contrast, more than you think you need. So I just gotta figure it's not showing up on my screen.
I agree with that statement. It could be your screen but many crafters I feel make things too dingy and they just look washed out on the table.
Beautiful
awesome as always!
What primer did you spray it matte black with? Looking for something which sticks to hot glue. Thanks DM Scotty
Best intro yet!
Thanks much...had fun with this one.
I really liked your "flat trees" from way back due to their simplicity, but I always felt they were a bit too suggestive, almost like a "tree token" if you will. THIS latest version though looks to be the best version yet! Have you given any thought to coniferous or tropical trees yet?
Thanks...not yet.
Good video. BUT I think every time he says wait for that to dry there should be a disclaimer that it could take 12+ hours to do so. I did some toilet paper/ pva terrain crafting and it took 36 ish for the really think parts to dry.
A fan or a heat vent in winter can really speed up the drying process.
Great as always
Thanks man
When you are allowing things to dry, as in this example, how long does it usually take?
It really depends on conditions...usually a day or two...air and hat help the drying process.
Heat not hat...lol
Thanks!
AWESOME!!!
Thanks, very happy with them.
I find the paper frays as well. Is there something we may be doing wrong?
Try doubling up the TP and push to the surface with a brush instead of your fingers.
That's my favorite intro!
Thanks...had fun with it.
Hi DM Scotty!! Question. How did you let them dry? I'm about to do this with my kids and I don't want the to dry on the table. Would hanging them be a good option?
They can take several days to dry...a fan of a heater vent can drastically cut drying time...have fun.
What size are your paper towels? They seem much bigger than the ones we get in Aus
i just use cheap brand...you can use any size just use more.
Cool you're should make more like a bonsai tree
Would you be willing to share the name of the brand of the foliage you used? Perhaps what craft store you found them at? I think that these would be perfect for my crafting purposes, but have had a somewhat difficult time finding good artificial plants.
Think I picked it up at Hobby Lobby but most big box craft stores have them
Thank you. Keep up the great videos.
C. Brett Gann Will do, you keep watchin'
I don't have a Hobby Lobby nearby my house and I had trouble finding them at Michaels. Could you tell me the brand name so I can find them online?
@@twainwalden6020 Let me see if I can find it.
One question, how much space do you have dedicated to storage?
I have a basement =)
Do you wait for glue to dry(and tree insides) before painting it? Witch process is better paint right away or wait for the whole tree to first dry? Ill try this in day's, any info would help thanks.
Let the white glue dry first, A fan can help. Hot glue dries in seconds...after all is dry then paint.
I have a heat gun (not as awesome as it sounds) which basically just blows heated air at things, i know for some crafts i can't use it because its too hot and melts some things (like foam). Do you know how these would react to a heat gun?
Might melt the hot glue but would help dry the glue if not too intense.
Well that was pretty incredible :O
Why thank you =)
No, thank you! I'm sure this will add plenty of flavour to my games, and you deserve way more subscribers.
Many of your crafts involve toilet paper. What brand do you use? Just simple single ply stuff?
Just the cheap stuff...basically single ply.
Thanks! I'll be getting supplies for the trees this weekend! Amazing videos as always. :)
Have fun =)
4:11 Pointed sticks?! Oh! We want to learn how to defend ourselves against pointed sticks, do we?
Love it!
Thanks man =)
So i gathered everything but glue gun i borrowed is at least 8 years old, 10 mins to get hot and get 1 drop of glue, 5 more mins to get another drop... What do i need to watch for when buying new glue gun? I saw your favorite gun on Amazon, but custom tax here can be 3 times the price of the item bought, if it gets through ...
Ugggghhh that sucks...Any NEW gluegun should work fine. Make sure to remove the nozzle cover so you can spread the glue.
awesome!!
How long did it take to dry after each water and glue mixture?
Can really depend on conditions...a fan can speed the process considerably.
Love the Intro!
Heh heh, thanks
Where do you get pencil shavings from?
dmScotty how about a detachable platform that you install to the tree so you can set an assassin in the tree. remove when he took an arrow to the knee.😀 I know you can, then I think this would be by far your best trees.
Good idea
My 8 year old was glued to the screen, she asked if we could make these trees for her eldar armies jungle table
Super cool!...Tell them I said Hi.
theDMsCraft totally will
Subbed, Super awesome!
Welcome to the craft.
Great vid but I need some logs bushes and 1 tree
Check out this vid.
ua-cam.com/video/6Fc3UyzyCss/v-deo.html
and this
ua-cam.com/video/9PdldpV0098/v-deo.html
Thx
What is the name 🤔of the vid
What plastic plant are you using.
??
I try to find ones with the smallest leaves.
How did you keep the base from drying to the table?
Will not stick to a slick surface.
How would you have an archer in the tree?
Would be pretty easy to wedge a mini between a tree and a branch as the branches have a bit of flex.
Master i can use vinyl glue rather than elmer's glue?!
is it a brand?
@@theDMsCraft No, it is a type of glue.. can i use any type of vynil glue or the result changes?
@@gianobifronte4306 I would stick with the Elmer's glue all or you will lose the work-ability.
Might use wire instead of a bbq scewer instead.
Also an option. I say use what you have on hand.
Very kewel Scotty !!
Really good video
Glad you enjoyed it.
how long to dry the glue/water??
Really depends on conditions. A fan can really help speed the process.
Sweet tip my friend! God Bless u!!
"If you are in-tree-gued and interested." ;3
Neat.
wow man
Glad you liked the idea
If you are in-TREE-gued and interested…
heh heh, yep
