I think a lot of people, myself included are probably watching and learning about the Iditarod for the first time, its not something that is covered anywhere. Its fascinating to see it through your eyes simply because of your energy and enthusiasm but also because of the fact that as you say, you're just a guy. You have a unique perspective and an infectious child-like fascination with the world and that's what I will always return to watch. One of my favorite mantras anyone has ever said to me was "you do you." so Cory, you do you.

Put it in this perspective Cory, What vlogger has vlogged the Iditarod? This is a journey that you will get to share with your kids and grandkids someday, and just by not telling stories but to actually watch a video of it! Plus I love vloggers that travel like Louis, he has been to places that I will probably only dream of going but it feels like I have been there through watching his vlogs. We are all grateful for being able to go on this journey with you and your next journeys to come! Glad you are back man, keep up the great work!

Sikkow You know, that makes me wonder...... Isn't there a CGI balloon in existence that those "nowhere visitors" can take with them?! In this day and age of sattelites and all..... One would excpect GCI to even provide SOME sort of coverage in the middle of nowhere....right? ;-)))

We want to experience what you are experiencing, your way of seeing the world is so unique and so wonderful, it makes everything so real, way more so than any news channel could do. They do their thing, you do yours, this is a little new to you so it may take a few tries before you figure things out and get into your stride. I would never have come this close to watching a dog sledding race, it never interested me that much. But with you experiencing it for us, now I am interested. This is what KTVA and the Iditarod people want you to do, you will be introducing many people to this event (and to Alaska in general), who without you would never have learned to appreciate it or even known of its existence. You are the best :)

Cory, keep on going... you're heading towards your purpose. You don't need documentaries, you don't need to try to reach the entire world. Just have fun with life and do whatever you enjoy doing... That's what people like.

Look at the number of subscribers and comments you have.
You make loads of people happy, they're all still here and the numbers keep growing.
So yes, please do your thing. It's what we've been enjoying for quite some time now and no one should ever ask for anything else.
Also, might want to get some KTVA headwear to be more recognizable ;).

Ok, I have to applaud you for the unbelievable artistry that was done in the last few minutes of this vlog. Corey- you film what you want to film. It's a never ending cycle of crazy to try to please anyone but yourself. It's your enthusiasm and zest for life that keeps us all watching. If I wanted a news report, I'd watch the news. I watch you because I enjoy seeing somewhere I've never been or experienced thru your eyes. Keep doin' what your doin'...please yourself first. If you like the vlog you created than trust me, we'll like it too. Cheers!

No you're not just a news reporter, camera man, or anything like that, what makes you, and your channels special, and unique is that we get to see your story unfold along with you, your life, your creativity, the happy, and the sad, Cory that's what brings us all together here, it's what makes you, and your channel special, it's you, and all that you do.
I've been watching you for years, and years, and I'm still here, because you're awesome, I miss the SMPFilms, but I love the vlogs as well.
    Have fun out there :)

You have grown so very much this last year as a person and as a vlogger. Over the many years I've been watching your videos, I have never seen you as happy as you are when you're with Kristen and living your life in Alaska. You have found not only your place in the universe but the partner you want to spend your life with. Yes, life is good and your vlogs reflect that. This was another great video!

  • @FallenBenevolence

Cory, seeing you happy makes me happy, I watch you when I get home after work, after customers have stressed me out and treated me like crap, and watching you and Kristen, the cats and Penny be happy and seeing Alaska through your eyes is what de-stresses me. Keep on being you.

I watch your videos to see your perspective on things. It's rewarding to see life through your eyes and I feel honored you and Kristen let us come along for the ride. It's not a bad thing for you to focus and Daĺlas, your drawn to him because he enjoys his life and career as much as you enjoy yours. Keep doing what makes you happy and stop worrying about us as you can't please everyone.

What you have to remember, Cory DudeLikeHELLA is that people subscribed to your channel because of who you are, not what they want you to be. I subscribed years ago and I've seen you go through many changes but your core being has never changed. This is why we watch, why I watch, for you being you. These crazy adventures you have? They are a bonus.

rain is just rain, freezing rain is when rain hits a cold surface and freezes, sleet is actually small ice pellets falling. Hail is actually bigger ice pieces. So what you were hearing was sleet hitting the umbrellas.
But it is nice to see the start of the Iditarod.

Never fear, Cory...you are fresh eyes looking at things for the first time...and that doesn't make you a reporter. That makes you our eyes! Shoot...you haven't even ridden in a dog sled yet...have you? (you really need to do that, by the way. You mentioned the quiet. That's what I always loved!) And I have a feeling that if even if you were to report the news...you wouldn't be able to keep your own brand of just who you are out of the reporting. You'll do just fine. Be safe. Kristen, you stay safe, too, girl!

One of the things I love about you is that you get so excited by some of the people, like Dallas and his dogs, and the idea of the Iditarod. Personally, I don't see a danger that you're concentrating on "them" more than yourself because you're letting us into the bits of your life where you're really excited. I bet no one else has the film you have of Dallas and his dogs at the vet check. Your excitement and personable nature draw people like Dallas to you. That's why you're so great at recording what makes you joyful.
Sending mighty wishes for awesome and exciting times for you. Can't wait to watch! Yer buddie, LyP

Cory, you're doing an awesome job!! Just remember what you set out to do all along, you are documenting your life and sharing it with the world. We have been so fortunate to not only see the beautiful land of Alaska (which i used to live in) but more importantly we are watching someone who loves life, loves experiencing new things and we get to see Alaska, and South Korea, and the Iditarod through the eyes of someone experiencing it for the first time. So it's not about the mushers, or the dogs, or the Iditarod itself, it's about Cory, living life and experiencing all this stuff and sharing it for all to see. Good luck out there on the trail, stay safe, and I look forward to seeing the updates!!

Like many other have said before me, just be yourself. That is who I love to watch. Your joy in life and the adventures that it brings are so refreshing!
On the rain/sleet thing. Most likely what you were experiencing was sleet. An odd name that my family has for when it first starts to have frozen particles in the rain but is not full blown sleet is saying that there are "bones in the rain." I have not met anyone else who uses this saying. My mother says she first heard it from my father. He was born in the 20's so I am thinking it is perhaps an old saying. I still like it as it is pretty unique!

This may be a tad long-winded, but bear with me. I've followed the Iditarod for several years with a subscription to Iditarod.com. The only thing shown is the starts and the teams coming through the checkpoints with occasional interviews if the teams stay there for a while (fyi, the mushers are usually very busy taking care of the teams when they stop at a checkpoint so they may not be their normal friendly selves).
Other than watching an Idita-rider who posted a video, I've never seen anything beyond the starting line so I appreciate you going further down the trail and showing that perspective. Since you're new to every aspect of the event, your perspective is going to be different from the news people already covering the event. Just do what you do, have fun and enjoy yourself. Know that there are hundreds if not thousands of people envying you in being able to do this.

I think that this change is perfectly normal, suddenly the big event you've been waiting for for so long has happened, and it's all a bit overwhelming! I think that also as soon as you're out there you'll be happy, it'll again be so, so new out there, covering it all and you'll be well away. Don't worry if you feel like the vlogs are changing, unless you're not enjoying what's going on, people will want to watch.

You exude this super happy thrill in just about every new experience that you have through you're vlogs. Without your vlogs..I wouldnt of known the beauty that Alaska has to offer (and seriously want to visit)...I never knew that was actually called "Iditarod" or what goes on before a race. You've introduced us to two awesome mushers..I mean theres just countless things that you've shown us that many of us didnt know.. They still needed to add snow downtown because of something called the heat island effect. All the black asphalt and dark colored infrastructure retain a lot more heat than the surrounding wilderness does, especially if that surrounding wilderness is covered by white snow. So the interior of the city is warmer than the edges and the surroundings. To add to this, snow that falls directly on asphalt streets would melt more quickly than snow that falls on dirt and soil would.
So, basically, they had to add snow downtown because asphalt happened.

What's different is you got acclimated to the area. The cold is no longer weird, the mountains are just there (awesome, but there), and now you are going to the people. No longer focusing on the static beauty of the landscape, and shifting towards the dynamic beauty of a culture and society. Your vlogs look like they went from "WOW! Look at this amazing view", to (this is how the people's lives have adapted and evolved around this type of extreme). I think that is what changed, which isn't a bad thing in any way. It's a reset and refresh.

Just be YOU, Cory. Being YOU makes people happy. Perhaps focusing on someone else and their accomplishments is good, but keeping it within the context of how their path crossing yours is significant. Maybe that will help bring clarity on how to focus. We enjoy you ...and seeing you and Kristen do this thing called life. Just share your journey with us...that's it. It's really simple. Thanks for doing what you do. Losing your authenticity and vulnerability really shouldn't ever be an option, because clearly that is a huge part of what makes you ,YOU! Looking forward to Iditarod, and how you grow and experience it! Hi Kristen! :)

Cory i do not think anything has changed with you and your goals for the vlogs. I just think you are excited to be a part of something that is as important as life itself to a lot of awesome people, yet a lot of people have no clue what or when this goes down and your showing us an awesome way of life thats a part of your new home and you make it your own kind of learning experience and i love it . Just because its not your usual vlog subject dosent mean its not done 100% the Cory way, It is brother

Hey Cory, don't overthink that Iditarod thing too much. I like to think about it as "Corys view on the Iditarod", so it is special and you're not doing what everybody else is doing...! And I guess you will have a great adventure! It won't be easy, but it will be a great adventure! Looking forward to it!

That thought process at the end, yep, I concur the crap out of it. :)
It's your life and the way you live it that's engrossing - the joy and interest rather than the subject itself. Any information that gets imparted in between the chuckles, the beautifuls and cools that can lead to checking things out in more detail ourselves.

I totally agree with what you said on the second part of the video. I live in Argentina, and so, I don't know anything about this. But I know I will learn a little just by the things you'll tell, even if you don't COVER this whole stuff like if you were media. And then, if i want to know more, I can just Google, go to KTVA.... I don't even know if I do care about a race where dogs pulls a trail. I'm here because I like your vlogs.
You're not media. You're a vlogger in these series. And so, with all the stuff you'll say about your life, you will tell what's going on with that Iditarod race and make us learn about it!
Just do *what makes you happy*. Hope you the best for this trip!

Firstly, at 10:08, the shot of the church with the mountain behind it was really pretty and I keep thinking about it! Secondly, I hope you have an epic trip and I'd give anything to switch places. Just be exposed to all that beautiful wilderness! I do truly hope you have fun though, and I'll be keeping you and all others involved in my prayers! :)

If you could ask a centipede how he manages to walk with so many legs...he will start to think about and stumble. Never ask the "WHY" question. Follow your heart and do what you like. Maybe you wonder how to reach the next level of your beeing. Be the one you are. Hopefully you will read this. I love what you are doing.

Any chance you came across a musher with the last name Fish??? A distant relative of mine trains dogs for the Iditarod and possibly races them too. I'm not for sure about that but it'd be cool to know if you saw the name somewhere while you were there. Thanks for sharing all your adventures in Alaska it makes me and my husband want to move there as well! I've always wanted to visit there but seeing your videos makes me want to leave Michigan and move to Alaska right now! I love it! :) Don't know how our dream of living in a tiny house on wheels would do there. Maybe you could get in contact with some tiny house on wheels people in your area and film them and their advice! That would be an awesome video to see and learn from :) Let me know if you ever do a video like that! Thanks! Keep do'n what you're do'n :)

Look at how eager those dogs are to go.....this is fricken awesome that you are doing this, and we get to see it instead of just read about it. Gah! My favorite "series" of any of your channels, combined.

Great soulsearching Cory, to go back to being "you". Now I feel like watching again! Indeed, we like to watch the "you crazy stuff".... the forgetting yr glasses, the getting icy cold, (or not, and then the grumbling about missing the cold haha) , the being in the middle of nowhere.... thát is indeed what we are looking forward to....with some sleds passing by too... and how YOU experience that. Way to go Cory, and Kristen too. ;-)
