I thought avocados needed sun to grow. Why are you concerned about sun? Also, what’s the advantage of planting on a raised bed vs regular surface? Finally, why did you plant it so close to fence and other tree instead of where the pile of shrub is, more to the right? Thank you in advance, I enjoy your videos.
Direct summer sun can kill a young tree with green bark. When the wood turns brown, it's safe to expose it. Avocado trees are susceptible to root rot, so they must be planted in a raised mound or bed. Where the pile of shrub was is the main gas pipe plus it's a high traffic zone, unsuitable for trees.
@ from your experience, how much does shade slow down their growth, if at all? I’ll be planting a Cado tree next month but it will be in all shade from October to march until it gets to at least 7 feet tall.
Nice job, hope that one will really take off there George. Look forward to seeing its progress
I hope so too!
Clean full garden
Thanks, it's always a work in progress!
Great job planting, George! Hopefully, this Reed avocado will do much better than the last one 🤞
I hope so!
Beautiful 👌
Thanks a lot 😊
@RealLifeFruitopia No worries 👍
Beautiful
Thank you
Reed Avo's are absolutely delicious!
I planted my first Reed 10 years ago. I'm hoping this one survives!

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice job! I’m thinking of getting a Gem avocado tree or maybe a Reed.
They’re both great choices!

I just grabbed a Jala avo from Ross Creek! Looking forward to planting
Great choice! I would love having another avocado, but there's too many to eat!
Why don't You have any Palm tree for beauty?
Tropical fruit trees are beautiful and a higher priority for me.
I have a few palms in pots. If I had extra room, I would plant them out.
