Genius! I hit a wall trying to get the plastic to not strip. Thank you! However I did all this and put in a new motor but now it's not spinning fast and it keeps shutting off ! noooooooooooooooooooo (maybe bought a bad used motor)

Thank you for this video. I tried using crescent wrench on front. As you said it started to deform the plastic. I used your method using the screw from behind impeller and it worked great. Again thank you. It also give you a chance to clean in back

Glad it helped. I used to have to break the fan because it would strip but now I just use this trick and it’s just easier. Glad it helped

Instead of drilling a hole in the blower wheel and causing it damage, you should be able to loosen the blower wheel from the front with the right tools. If you cannot, just put vice grips on the motor shaft so it rests on the dryer bottom, then grab the blower wheel and turn it counter clockwise about two inches to move the vise grips a couple inches away from the dryer bottom, then quickly turn the blower clockwise which causes the vice grips to tap against the dryer bottom, and repeat that a few times until the blower wheel loosens. I would also recommend taking a vacuum to the inside of the dryer after you get the old motor out, and before installing the new motor, then also replace the vent hose, and advise the customer to clean their lint filter before every load.

Clearly you didn't watch the whole video and actually haven't done this job before .
The reason to drill the hole and set the fan in plcae so won't move is because it's old plastic . and will almost always break if you just use a wrench on the plastic fan nut , means more parts and cost to replace the fan blade.

Broke the fan blade with your method. I think the plastic fan blade was brittle from 8 years of heat.

Sorry to hear that I’ve been doing it this way for years and it’s the easiest way to get the fan off

Man po people like me so appreciate folks like you uploading repair videos like this. I'm trying to get my machine to heat. Whirpool Dryrer LER46334JQ1 electric. It runs good but no heat. I've changed heater element and all the T stats and fuse related things to that and repaired a wire connector. Still no heat. I Took the timer off and cleaned the contact points and it has continuity when I turn it through the on/off cycles with my multi meter. Is there ANYTHING that has to do with the wire harness that connects underneath to the motor that could possibly be causing it not to heat? Loose/broken wire maybe? I wanna check everything else possible before I spend more $ on a used timer. Any tips is appreciated thank you.

Most likely the timer but can also be the motor itself it has a centrifugal switch that when running it sends power to the fuses/heater to turn on. Switch can go bad even if motor runs

@@appliancerepair420- Fixed my problem. It was a real DUH moment and a lesson learned for me. I rechecked the power coming into the machine. It was getting 120v at each leg but 0 when combined. Same thing at the 240v outlet plug for the machine.I then inspected the 30amp breaker at the box. It was reading 120v at each pole connection and 240v combined. I then noticed that someone had connected both hot wires going to the shed where the machine is, to the same pole on the breaker! Well, no wonder the dryer was only getting 120v. So, I shut the power off and connected the wires to its respective pole and wa-la the dryer is getting proper 240v and we got to do some much needed laundry. I'm a noob at this stuff but I shoulda double checked for proper power going to the dryer. Thanks for your response and your channel.

Glad you got it running. I missed the part where you said Electric. Meaning 240v
