Nice flow in his work and good execution of his acanthus leaves. Here's a vid you'd enjoy watching of a native artist in the North West, with I understand over 40 years experience teaching and working the fine metals. ua-cam.com/video/UiLLaYPf5ZM/v-deo.html
It looks so simple and easy to do,but I know how hard it is as I`m practicing for some time now.Great tutorial from start to finish.I learn so much from it.Hopefully there will be more.
I know it's been a few years but if you want a future in hand engraving remember one very important thing, you rotate the work, not the graver. On another note, I never used a pneumatic graver but I only worked precious metals.
nicest engraving i have seen sofar^^, in the first minute where u start engraving the borders, is a very good idea too, good work mate, keep it up....:)

Nice work never thought about putting art on metal because that’s what it is props for that you must price high I would giving the time and precision it takes.

I love the nice job! I need started working in my knife, thanks for letters see you work, I liked the way you talk to you kids,,family is very important
You make it look so easy.... ;) But I know it is not... Thanks for the video. I have to draw it out first... I have not found an eraser for my graver that works as well as eraser for my pencil. WHAT IS THE CLOTH THAT YOU ARE WIPING THE BOLSTER WITH?? Anxious to see more! THANKS!
I love your work, and I am trying very hard to get into engraving myself. but I need some advice. I bought a double engraving machine from china with a small and a large hand pieces. I was told that there would be instructions on how to use the equipment. it was in broken English and I really can't understand it.. Are you willing to give me some advise? I have several questions. if so pleaseprivate message me when you get a chance, Thank You Dave
If you did the same as me and got a blue cheap one that takes 2x aa batteries you might as well throw it away! I got one with a rounder fat end and a thin pointed end but they don't rotate fast enough and the nibs are made of cheap metal,if you are serious and want to put the time in to get good I would recommend you look at the "mcclay micro motor and a large selection of tungsten and diamond and rubber nibs,I suggest watching a glass engraver on UA-cam called Leslie I think . Her tutorials and skill are the best I've found ! Hope this helps, tommy uk
Hii! I'm also an engraver from India, here our technique and tool are different. Love your work! And would like to learn your technique. Is there any way to contact you?
Do you think there is a difference in how the hand engraving looks compared to the power. I am about to learn the art form. But am worried about the repetitive motion of the hand work... since the person I'm learning things from.... his wrists are ruined from decades of it. Yet, I won't be doing they type of work he does...
What type of lead do you use on the metal line that? No Chinese white correct? I've been trying different leads and none seems to be very dark on metals. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance and keep up the awesome work. Very inspiring
I make custom knives in North Pole but would love to know how to engrave my bolsters. I think if you could tell me everything I need it would be a great help. Maybe I could work something out with you. My website is AKFNK in Alaksa's Far Northern knives
Dear Griff, I am Marco fron Italy, one question for you... what tool do you use to make these engravings? Please send me model and brand, where can I buy it? Many Thanks for your help ;-) ciao Marco
I'm almost certain Griff uses grs gravermax or similar model. Lindsay airgraver is a great tool as well! Italy is an amazing place to learn as they have some world class engravers. Enjoy
One thought is, researching scroll and its' origins/signifigance from older era. As widely known in engravers' circles, English/European and North American scroll designs are different in size and detail.
I especially like that you have shown your work in real time rather than speeding it up. Nice work.
Great use of the flat to remove the background and undercut the spirals.
Very impressive. My only complaint... Why is this your only video? I could watch this for hours. What an artist!
Nice flow in his work and good execution of his acanthus leaves.
