nothing wrong with him sticking with a subject or theme that he is passionate about.. just that his work is rather trite and predictable..

Agreed. The longevity of new Doctor Who is largely down to Russell doing the groundwork. Dramas such as “Years and Years” and “It’s A Sin” just reinforce what a talented writer he is.

Me too. I grew up with his writing (literally a 6 year old when that aired) and he had a /massive/ part to play in forming my consciousness. He only impresses me more and more as I grow older

I'm so in love with Russell T Davies right now listening to him, absolutely on board with a lot of his comments. It's great to hear his voice over so many doom mongers and purveyors of mistruths. Can't wait to indulge in his future work and hearing others speak truth to power!

It's a Sin was very good but also very affecting and sad.
I'm probably odd in that I've never had a relationship with anyone man or women, never enjoyed the nightlife scene in my younger years and am often very conscious and depressed about all that... now..
The subject matter is so heavy and Im struggling to recover from it after three days as of writing. This probably means the series is truly groundbreaking. The last time I felt this kind of feeling was watching Chernobyl in 2019. Its really very heartbreaking and I feel like I'm grieving for real people even though they are fictional. The characters were strongly defined and there are some strong performances and this surely will go down as one of the best British television miniseries of the decade let alone 2021.

Russell is dead right on corona, people won’t put up with these restrictions much longer as its causing so much loneliness and despair. The recession that comes from this will cause it’s own problems too like 2008 did, but this time possibly worse.
As soon as the pandemic is over, I’d put good money on Boris being ousted. He hasn’t got a leg to stand on now Trump has gone and that Brexit has happened too. And a lot of it will be to do with the anger that Russell is talking about. Great Director 🙏

muslimgirl - it was a 'necessity' to nullify people's rights and end their careers? It' was a 'necessity' to forbid people from practicing their trade, have weddings or to attend funerals and physically embrace their bereaved brethren, or otherwise see their relatives? It was a 'necessity' to quarantine the healthy and young to protect the vulnerable? It was a 'necessity' to kill untold tens of thousands with missed cancer screenings, suicides, anxiety-exacerbated mental illness, missed elective surgeries and missed medical examinations? It was a 'necessity' to coerce the entire nation to collectivize and be made prisoners in their own homes? It was a 'necessity' for the government to dictate what medical procedures were necessary and which weren't and to make those decisions on the individual's behalf? It was a 'necessity' to violate people's lives so grievously and egregiously??? Never mind the tidal wave of death and privation still to come...
And yet you maintain the 'tarded argument, 'If we locked down _harder,_ it would have worked'??? How about the thousands if not tens of thousands of family members lost without ever having the chance to see loved ones before or during their passing? You think government should have power to restrict that? What if the sick / dying actively _want_ to see their loved ones before they pass? You get to wait to see your family members again, _good for little ol' you!_ - not everyone was as fortunate as that...
_Good gravy,_ not too bright, are ya? _Maybe you'd be smarter if you_ prayed harder _to be??_

Loved his answer on procrastination. Often times your brain is actually using that time to gather and organize thoughts. Your mind goes through those stages faster when there's a deadline there but it knows to use all the time allotted. I work in a different industry but also creative and it's very interesting to hear the thoughts of someone like Russel.

I lived through the AIDS crisis in London. Lost my partner to it. One thing that slightly annoyed me about It's a Sin is the portrayal of the gay world as almost exclusively being made up of flamboyant and camp 20-somethings. It wasn't. It was much more diverse.
