- The critically acclaimed screenplay writer, Russell T Davies OBE (English, 1981), was the special guest for the final Provost's ‘In Conversation’ at the Sultan Nazrin Shah Centre on 23 May. Russell talked about his career and works, including the 2005 revival of the science fiction series Doctor Who, and Years and Years, his dystopian drama on BBC One.
Amazing writer.
I could listen to this man for days.
Thank you. I really enjoyed this. I have just seen Years and Years. Wow!!!! I love Russell´s writing.
omg years and years is fantastic! blew my mind
The man is a genius
Thanks for sharing..What did he mean around 12:00 when he out K9 in an eoisode..episode of what..Queen as folk or one of his other pre-Drwho shows?
good
WHAT CLIP did they show at 21:52 that RTD discusses?
Apparently, gay characters should only be played by gay actors according to Mr. Davies. For authenticity. I recently played a man who is abusing his wife due to his inability to cope with her stroke. Now, I've never done that so why did I get the part? Is it because they thought as an actor I cld get inside the skin of a character. Isn't that what acting's about Mr. Davies or are we dealing with some form of discrimination? A form you wld decry. Heaven help us.
That is typical of the BBC an organisation which is racist against white people, sexist against men and discriminates based on peoples sexual orientation (ie if you are heterosexual).
There's a difference between understanding how it feels to be an oppressed minority and playing a horrible person.
@@JoE-sl8vp you're so painfully wrong, the BBC is very conservative.
I can understand the ideal of a gay man playing a gay man will have a stronger performance and also would be an actor acting their truth
@@JoE-sl8vp Good lord - go touch some grass, man
