(haven't watched his reaction fully) my personal favourite is “Im Ready Im Ready”, knowing full well violets tale my response is always aloud “no, no you’re not.”
So, my brother and I grew up in the foster care system. We came from a family much like this situation in the song. It is a tragedy. However, we were able to escape the generational trauma and we both have amazing families. We are very lucky.
Jeez, I can't imagine. I'm very happy for you to have not only left that but seemingly become stronger in the end. That's what you love to see. Glad you're here. :)
So sorry for all that you and your brother went through, but happy that you both made it through the storm and came out the other side stronger. Love, hugs and peace.
I love at the end when violet says “if I’m to die this very night, please let my ***babies*** stay alive”. It sounds like “please let my baby stay alive” but it’s so well thought out that he follows the word babies with a word starting with S to conceal it. He saves the tie-in to Jenny and screech until the LAST second. It’s so good.
To my Nottingham ears, he definitely says 'baby' both in this video and the live 360 version and in his pinned post containing the lyrics on Violets Tale, it's there as baby. Does it work better one way or the other ? I think baby works better as it offers us no clue about what is coming (which could have also been Violet's situation anyway). Any thoughts from the Ren himself on it ?
@@chrisbodum3621 I guess I’d trust your Nottingham ears more than my own. I just remember going back to relisten to what he said, and it clicked to me that it could be either. It would def be an interesting one to find out from the man himself. Lol
He says baby. But for what it’s worth, I’m a girl twin with a boy twin, and my mom didn’t know she was carrying twins until she was in labor, and I born first, very small.
@@cultivatinggracealso would make sense she didn’t know because she’s a teen mom on welfare & most likely didn’t get prenatal care so wouldn’t have known there were twins
Plus when he said that line he "misplayed" his guitar in a panic dying manner just like the story he is saying especially that line. Beautiful detail in his guitar playing.
I had a hard time listening to these at first, especially Violet's Tale. But all three of them made me cry. It wasn't until I started watching then reaction videos on it that I became more desensitized and can just appreciate everything else that goes into these songs.
Same. It took a long time before I could get through the assault scene. I was able to somewhat desensitize myself over many, many viewings and reactions. 🖤
@@Monica-sw9ld Yeah, that was hard to watch. And now I can better appreciate that that also means he portrayed it sooo well. Like "You think I want to do this?"
@@kali9850 The fact that he portrayed the abuser so well was kinda shocking to me. It was just like being there again. Hard to stay in the here and now and stay detached from the memories during and after it. It's a little easier now.
Ren is a master lyricist and the fact he did all these live and in one take is astounding. In an interview he said he does it that way as proof of concept because he has a screenplay written for a Netflix series like Black Mirror but with music.
This trilogy hits on so many levels the sad thing is this week a 15 year old girl was stabbed to death by a 15 year old boy in London and this cycle of violence just keeps going on . Thanks for taking your time to thoughtfully go through this one ❤❤❤
@@GeriStorminteresting? My 16yo daughter was attacked whilst waiting for her ride home from a 14yo bday party, held at the family's house. A gang of 10 teens grabbed her and dragged her into a deserted park(it was 930pm, so dark and alone). They made her contact her sister asking for money, my older daughter ran to my room and told me. My 16yo then called me and I had to pretend I didn't know what was going on, as the gang were listening in.(she had previously been able to text my 18yo daughter what was really going on). She asked me to transfer her $400, and to just trust her. I said oh that's a lot, let me see what I can do, and she said so calmly pls hurry. Thanks Mumma. Luckily she had turned her 360 maps on. I called the police, 5 times over 2 hours and it wasn't until after my 18yo ran in during the last call screaming "they are going to rape and stab her in the face" that the operator upgraded the call. That night my daughter suffered more then I will share, but they didn't just steal her shoes, bag, phone, credit card with pin, got her home address, bashed, assaulted and terrorised her, that later she told me..." a calmness came over me at one point bc I really accepted that I was about to die". I'll shorten the night by saying the police didn't find her my 24yo(along with her 6ft6in Maori bf) followed her maps and found her and scared off my 16yo attackers. When they came back from the hospital, I saw a different little girl come home, from the one that left earlier that night. Not just physically from the attack, but in her eyes, her soul. Thankfully all her attackers were swiftly caught. You can't imagine the relief my 16yo felt, knowing they would be off the streets. Except they weren't, they all got bailed out. Cos get what they all had a tough upbringing???? My 16yo has PTSD now, needs me to sit with her(or sleep) until she falls asleep, jumps at any loud noise, hears noises that aren't there, won't leave the house alone, or just never wants to. It's a complex situation and I never want what happened to her to define her, make her second guess herself, stop being an empathy, caring for the underdog. This only happened 6mths ago and although she's still suffering she is determined to forgive those teens, but it has really challenged her whole belief and faith in trying to be the best person she can. Before, she found it easy to be kind hearted, now she's more cynical, scared and mistrusting of her own ability to discern good from bad.
Doc sent me ! You have to listen closely to Ren. There is not a single song of his that is not amazing. He is a musical genius and a wordsmith extraordinaire ❣️
Don't feel stupid!! Trying to balance streaming and chat and Ren's storytelling is a LOT! WHen you got it, you ~got~ it, generational trauma and all! Great reaction and thank you for watching it again!!!!
I really appreciate you appreciating I was doing a lot of things for the sake of engagement and it may not be easy for me to get everything on the first damn try haha. Thank you for that, Sarah. :)
@@TheBlackSpeedYour energy is amazing and I loved your reaction and the fact that you listened to it again…I missed a lot the first time bc you get lost in the story and Ren’s telling of it and the details slip by. In fact, I’ve watched this trilogy like a thousand times now, and YOU just pointed out to me, during your second listen, how Screech told Jenny, “You don’t know me”…wow…I missed it. Thank you!!! The first time I watched this, I heard him say “twins” at the end of “Violet’s Tale” and pretty much had the same reaction as you… PS - you are NOT dumb or stupid, please don’t talk about yourself that way!!! You have amazing energy and a brilliant mind - thank you for all your thoughtful insights and your magnetic vibe!!! I subbed!!!
These are single takes- they shot several takes to get the one they use. So he is out there singing- making sound effects - acting- playing and hitting marks- especially in Violet’s Tale. I am blown away by how he used the architecture to produce sound effects. ❤😢❤
You won’t believe how manny times I’ve tried to convince reactors to watch 1st for the experience and a second time for analysis to these. You did it on your own- fantastically❤
Ren rabbit hole is very deep and rich. Every song is it's own rare jem. Some hit heavy and deep and there may be a couple that your don't feel and at times some take a while before they speak to us. But it's like walking through a top museum, every piece is incredible in it's own unique way.
My son and I discovered Ren for the first time 1 1/2years ago by tripping over violets tale. We listened over and over. THEN we discovered the other two. Then the rest. I'm so glad everyone is finally getting to hear his music.
Joined your livestream and since you were so nice and accommodating to us Renegades, I just watched it through again to make sure the algorithm knows that you rock.
Don't feel bad brother. I had to watch it three times to get all the details. A LOT of Ren's music is like that. It's simply too much to absorb by only watching it once.
Especially when you are stunned by his singing voice or guitar play. Sometimes i had to rewind too, because i got lost in the atmosphere he creates and missed listening to the lyrics.
That twist hit me hard the first time I heard it. It is such a twisted, beautifully communicated tragedy. This was proof to me that Hi Ren was not a one off and he is a modern master.
Performance art at it's finest. I am imagining Ren taking groups on a tour of the streets and specific buildings, re-enacting various stories on the way.
There is, on his YT channel is a live, 1take, 360° version of The Tales, done at night on the street, with the audience led to the spot. With the 360° camera, you can move around and view the area and the audience or keep the camera on Ren. Its great!
@@Monica-sw9ld evil is a religious word, some are very seriously mentally ill and do terrible things, that doesn’t make them EVIL that makes them people who need to be helped and if people stopped seeing them as evil maybe countries would put money into mental health services and drug addiction help, etc etc. Schools would have councillors in school so they can see the children who are traumatised and help them before they get to a point in their life where people call them evil! We need to be more compassionate and use our brains to ask why? Not to just put people in boxes of good and evil!
@@GeriStorm I only used the word bc you had used it. I've seen firsthand how dangerous it can be to feel sorry for an abuser. The time to intervene is before the first act of abuse is committed.
@@Monica-sw9ld I didn’t say anyone needs to feel sorry for someone who has done a crime but at least Ty to understand how they got to that point! Before calling someone Evil as the word conjures up all sorts of wrong beliefs of why anyone commits a crime.
@@GeriStorm I understand where you're coming from. I've always been empathetic, sometimes to my own detriment. But once a line is crossed and they harm or kill someone, it's too late. Certainly for the victim, who is often reduced to a vague footnote at the end of the news story. Abusers are notoriously hard to change. To rehabilitate. Many are let right back out and quickly reoffend, despite having been a 'model' prisoner. They can be good at fooling people, at saying and doing all the right things, as long as it will serve their purpose. And 'reoffending' in this case means he found her and hurt her again. Or held her hostage. Or killed her. I've seen them use mental health, substance abuse, their kids, their childhood, etc, as a way to get their sentence(s) reduced or dismissed. Plea deals. 3 yrs, out in 15 months on 'good behavior '. First thing he does? Get a gun. Second thing? Look for her. Or find someone who knows her and make them talk. My abuser didn't have a gun. He used his hands and the pointed toes of his boots. Fast fwd 20 yrs, and I haven't been able to work for the past 15 of them, because of the damage he did. It's much worse lately. He came from a successful, respected family. But he later told me things he done as a teenager. His family had connections, and he got off with no record. They had to know what he was doing to me. They saw the bandages and made a domestic violence 'joke'. 🙄 But he was their son, so... he was never held accountable by law or anyone else. Ever. As for me, I was left beaten and homeless. Far, far from home. He cared not. See what I mean?
Mad ❤ hard for me to hear this song. Ren brings emotion out of me that I thought I dealt with before. So watching this will be the only time. Ren is a once in a millennium artist that is already a legend in my book
Out of all the things Ren can do, master at guitar, piano, story telling and great at rapping and beat boxing but his best talent in my opinion by far is his beautiful voice. He can sing many genres, so you will have to hear him sing before you decide what you think he does best.
Starting with "Chalk outlines (live)" or busking with Sam Tompkins "mans world" or the MC sessions version of "Blind Eyed" or maybe anything with the Big Push. So many ways to experience those brilliant vocals
I very rarely watch reaction to this story, it breaks my heart every time. Glad I gave you a chance, thank you! Never believed in reincarnation, but Ren is so close to Shakespeare's way of storytelling, it's uncanny.
Loved the reaction!!! I got this right away at the end, but did not see it coming. It has the element that I love in movies I watch, not being able to easily predict the ending. It is a tragically brilliant performance. Tragic due to the subject matter, brilliant due to the presentation and story telling and a performance because, let's face it, you cannot merely call this a song. It is much more than that.
And Jenny is quiet like her mom. Screech is loud and violent like his father. Without knowing any of this the pattern repeats. Ren writes, produces and performs this with almost no money and this is the result. The way he uses his environment is incredible. Also, he will reference them in other songs.
One of the most important Ren videos to watch is not a music video, but his speech after reaching a million subscribers and his definition of success... he's someone who makes you stop and think...when I'm dealing with a smartass customer service person or something like that, my knee jerk reaction is to get pissed, but lately I find myself stopping to redirect that thought...I want to be a part of the change, to be a part of the hive, so I'm learning to respond and not just react. Ren is someone who can pull you out of your darkness and into the light... he's an amazing soul. ❤
Love that you did it twice bro. No one else does that and it was cool to watch. Don't feel bad about missing things. None of us picked up everything on the first listen. And we didn't have to handle a chat room at the time lol. There's no way to figure out that Violet is the mom until the last line of the last song. That's why the story telling is so brilliant. Btw if no one else mentioned it, if YT ends up giving you a copyright strike. Just fight it and Ren will make sure it gets cleared so you can monetize it. He does this for all the reactors.
It just occurred to me that Violet played dead to save her bab(ies). She stayed 'in character' despite Stevie's blows, despite dislocated bones and knocked out teeth. Despite his threats and taunts. She only 'broke character' when she felt safe - with the doctors. She broke her silence then, to save them. It was all to save them from what she had suffered. Domestic violence is a horrible thing. Infinitely damaging. It ends when each individual chooses NOT to abuse. They're the only ones who can stop it. We, each of us, are the only ones who can stop it.
This brings a Storytelling tale...and that's just it...nobody creates Tales...but Ren has reinvigorated a method of bringing forth a song/play...back into the light since the Minstrel with a Lute.
You also hit on a big thing that speaks volumes to his ability. His ability to convey the tragedy of Screech even though he's the villain of the story. Not everyone can convey that empathy and understanding without glorification. He walks that fine line without ever even drifting near it. Empathy and understanding without glorification.
See and in my mind, Screech is far from the villain (though I definitely get what you're saying). It'd be the situation that's the villain. The parents? The grandparents? Fate? Who knows. I think that's why both Jenny & Screech happen to be both the miracle and the tragedy at the same time, to me anyway. It's just sad all around. Trauma is so complex and seemingly infinite. It sucks.
Admittedly, I was a bit lazy in my wording of my comment. Screech is the villain sense that he is the identified Boogeyman he is the thing that goes bump in the night. Even in the song Ren once refers to him as "our villain." But within the overall context of society, context of this song, the repetitious cycles of trauma and abuse of course the root cause of what we're seeing here. But in our society we want want someone to blame. We don't want to look in the mirror and say what do we need to do differently. And Ren's showing the history that James lived to become who he became is such an indictment all of society's unwillingness to come together and truly help our most vulnerable to live better lives. We sit back and we pay our taxes, and we say well Violet had a place to live because the government takes my and gives it to her. The system is there to take care of her. But does it really take care of these most vulnerable folks in our society? What is the system only throw on enough of a bandaid that we can go on with our lives and just not feel guilty about the hell that others have to go through a monsterous behaviors that that can sometimes create.
Ah, nah I wasn't disagreeing with you. Just expanding on what you were saying. I saw it from your perspective and just wanted to add my own color. I agree with what you're getting at. I appreciate you adding more context to your perspective. A sad world.
I was lost for words, then cried as the realisation of generational fear and violence continues. There is so much in this story, Ren is a master story teller. And his talent as a lyricist and musician is crazy. Vi9let was their mother. Jenny like her froze, stayed silent and s reech, like his dad was violent. When Patrick wasn't home, he was with Rens girlfriend.. like all his life noone had his back. Jenny and James are names used for orphans when they haven't been named.. like Jane doe. There is so much commentary on societal tragedy. Ren in all his music speaks about important messages. The kids were separated at birth.. she 3nded upa street walker, him a thug.
Ren seems to have found a way to project his stories directly into the brain. This story, after I first listened to it, had me feeling like I had just finished watching a full length, high definition, movie. I had to watch it again just to see if there were any other actors, or if my mind just put them in there! LOL!! He creates some super vivid images. This is the first artist I've ever seen on youtube that I've been compelled to binge watch as much as this. Ren is changing the game. I'm cool with that! Awesome reaction, by the way!! Cheers!
Respect for treating this with the time and space it deserves for you to share your thoughts with us. I am a recent subscriber, and that is on me. It is difficult to seek out decent reactors that actually have a adult state of mind, and conduct themselves as such. I appreciate your time, and that is not to be understated. ❤
Hey, better late than never. :) Just glad you're here. Yeah, you won't find that weird antic nonsense you find in other UA-camrs. We keep it real over here. I appreciate YOU for giving me your time as well. Thank you.
Don't be so hard on yourself for not catching the gist the first time around - that's all in the art of obfuscation that Ren pulled on you : He never said Jenny's age, so you couldn't have guessed she was a street walker at fourteen. You might not even have guessed she was a prostitute because without any notion of her age the fact of wearing heels and makeup ('rosy cheeks') means very little without that key piece of information. Also, my absolute favorite and most masterful use of obfuscation is in Violet's tale - in the _only_ time Violet speaks ('broke her silence and she cried') : Ren deliberately constructed Violet's plea in such a way that the word 'baby' was followed by a word that starts with an 's' so that she could be saying "Please let my baby stay alive" or "Please let my babies stay alive" - let's not forget this is in 2005 (ultrasounds and mandatory check-ups etc.) and it's pretty difficult to be 9 months pregnant and _not_ know you're carrying twins... Regarding your immense satisfaction at the 'that's the sound of his fists as they fell like a crashing pilot' - dude, that is low-key my fave part to because of the absolutely _perfect_ timing he started playing the guitar again - the music comes in on the word 'pilot' and as horrific as the lyrics are, the music is just ... _Mwah_ *chef's kiss* Appreciated this reaction - again thanks for uploading both play-throughs in a single vid and I'm that much more bummed that I only joined the livestream in literally the last minute...
PHANTOM in the house! I not only appreciate how hard this had to be for me to do while attempting it at a Live react (per that's what most people wanted me to do) but that I WAS able to get so much the first go around and appreciate the darker tones of the song. Me smiling at the "darker" moments was in appreciation to the storytelling as a whole, not the actual words being used. I'm glad you were able to catch and pick that up very quickly. And you're very welcome. It was definitely a lot of fun having the back and forth but I'm sure you'll catch the next one.
You don’t need to feel bad about missing a lot on your first listen - way too much to compute for most of us. The story itself and the awe in which it’s performed is overwhelming. ❤
Thanks for reacting to Ren. This whole trilogy is genius and amazingly informative, and whilst not providing solutions, these track do highlight so succinctly the issues that lead to grooming, prostitution, physical violence and knife violence. The issues Ren is talking about include, but are not limited to: Poverty, the violence cycle, toxic masculinity, the way we educate boys, the way we condition and sexualise girls from an early age, how we educate girls not to speak up, drugs and excessive alcohol, the lack of parental figures (good consistent fathers); and the lack of community leader/mentorship. Also, the magnificence of the bardic storytelling and the way Ren uses the music to add extra emphasis to the story really bring the tales home both mentally and emotionally.
You are a brave man to do this one life with people watching!! As for my first experience, I felt nut shotted at the end. I followed the going back in time, all of it, but somehow I never pegged who Violet is until he said it. I sat silent for at least 3 minutes.
It was a lot to absorb and doing it in one listen and not getting it the first time doesn't make you stupid. Unless a bunch of us are stupid. You did well. Good reaction, new sub.
Thank you, I really appreciate that. That's what the people wanted, so I gave it to 'em! We had to have known distractions were going to be a thing haha but I did what I could and the second play-through definitely brought it all home. Appreciate the nice words.
Only 3mins??? The 1st time I sat for about 1hr. Justin Hawkins wrapped it up well,.if you get the chance, go listen. Though I LOVED THIS REACTION EQUALLY. 😢😢❤❤
First time I heard this, I was stunned silent thru the entire thing. Frozen. In awe. At the plot twist, I argued in my head for a sec that no no no… can’t be true. I then went from zero to 1000 in an instant and burst into tears. Full on ugly crying. And I’m not much of a crier. After that, I told my husband that I just watched a young man with a SHAKESPEAREAN level of talent that has every chance of standing among the greatest that have ever been.
Why is it too much to ask that we be nice to each other? It shouldn’t be, but apparently, in this world where we could be ANYTHING, we can’t even be nice. As mentioned a few comments ago, just this week a teenage boy stabbed a 15year old with a f’ing machete! What are we becoming? What have we already become?
It’s what we’ve always been,we just started to move in a good direction then with all the deliberate propaganda and division we’ve gone back to a darkness most of us could never imagine ☮️
@@AP-gb3eh I hate the truth, it’s a bitter pill to swallow. None of us can change the world, or all the people in it, but we could at least try, individually, to be better, nicer, kinder. I repeat: in this world, when we could be anything, just be nice. I live with a small flame of hope. Love from Annie, in Cornwall, UK🙂🌸
There is So much to take in with Ren's art, I've watched this video lots now. There's still things I keep realising I missed, and it's so incredibly deep. Don't think yourself as stupid, the music, rythum and lyrics pull you in on their own, the context is often missed. It's perfectly put together, so much that it's mind blowing! But through this, there's so much connection within his audience. It is powerful!
The "shame" part is from the news article that Ren read and that inspired him to write this. A real-life 14-year old kid killed a girl (not his sister) during a robbery with a knife. The officer that arrested the boy (didn't shoot him) described the incident to the reporter and said that "it's such a shame". I've watched over a dozen reaction videos to this. Everyone misses the significance of "two-zero-zero-five" The Jenny tale and the Screech tale were written and recorded two years before Violet's tale. You didn't get that Jenny was 14 years old, because it wasn't said. Ren only said that Screech was 14. In 2005 two twins were "lying side by side". 14 years later, they were again lying side by side. One more thing. We don't know if the father is Violet's father or Stevie. Ren once said that Screech's girl was with Patrick. It's not in the song.
@@The_Sound_Doctor1957 Close. Violet's tale begins at the hospital in 2005. Then we go further back than that, to tell us how Violet got to be in the hospital, That's at least months back.
If you notice, the first video (Jenny's tale) was posted in 2019, so the dates actually line up with perfectly the fact that they're 14 and born in 2005 (which connects to Violet's tale even though it was posted in 2021)
After 50 reactors, you are the first to mention the guitar transition forward. Great catch. The story twist and talent of Ren and camera work is second to none.
Officially my new favorite reaction channel. Sooooo many people jumped on the bandwagon, the hype, but absolutely did not connect. I’m super stoked that you took the time to watch it twice. It’s an absolutely winning format for a performance piece like this. Thanks again. ☮️
Absolutely. My subs wanted me to do it, and I wanted to do it. I KNEW I had missed way too much the first go-round, so we had our chat and I was like..let me lock in. So happy I did that. It was a much better discussion and time with it.
I’m glad you took the time to really analyze and understand The Tale of Jenny and Screech. It’s deep. All the way down to the little mannerisms that Jenny and Screech had that were like their parents. Jenny was silent and accepted her victimhood like Violet. Screech dealt with his trauma just like Stevie did, by lashing out with violence. Ren is just an amazing artist.
Bradley, you've just been featured on a channel called Discodocreacts. He's an AI reactor/fake psychiatrist (or is he?) That has absolutely no affiliation with Ren whatsoever. He features a reactor with under 10k subs every Tuesday. This week he chose you! I hope this may bring in a few more subs for you you deserve them!
Sir, you are not stupid! It took me 2 watches to put it together. Then afterwards it sets in bit by bit. Loved the reaction. Now you can watch reactions to this song and watch the story register and hit the watcher. Love your vibe. This renegade will definitely be back!
Hey ! Thanks for this. I love the double watch deep dive! im commenting for the algo. You've got a great voice😊 Hope you're ready ! The doc's sending you many renegades 😊
Don’t ever fear bad about rewinding/relistening to a Ren performance….we all do it and other reactors do it. There are so many layers of sound- lyrics - music - lyrics and visuals. Great Job😂
Ren is one of those generational artist that will not be forgot. He has such range and versatility… and did it independent. Think about what we missed out on before the internet !
Yep, the second play-through was definitely warranted and glad I decided to do it. Still had fun talking to yall and having a bit of back-and-forth at first though too haha.
See, thank you for picking up on that haha. A very small few didn't, and that's exactly why I did it. It deserved to have us all interact in real-time on that one. Hope you'll make it to the next one!
The realisation of the outcome just before the last verse was priceless. A true tragedy of modern life that leaves this listener with many what if questions, how would life had been if Violet lived, what if Jenny and James were not separated as orphan's as is done with modern social children's services. Violets history of family abuse the lack of intervention by authorities the whole sad mess is played out every day and other fellow humans are programmed to not intervein. Having been the victim of domestic violence I am no longer silent when I hear or see it, there is no difference what the sex of the perpetrator is the victim has to get out no matter what. Too many people live in a constant state of fear mixed with how can a loved one be great one day and violent the next and unfortunately some only get out when the coroner comes to collect the body.
I appreciate you sharing this and adding your perspective to the conversation. I'm glad you not only survived it but are here to type and talk about it. Thank you.
The first time I heard the trilogy I was overwhelmed but I caught the twist and I cried. I watched it again and picked up some small missed pieces.. and cried. I watched a few reaction videos to get more pieces and cried. I have seen the tales many times and I still tear up every time. Same with Hi Ren.. still get choked up after hundreds of listens !
Dude, I've watched a ton of these reactions. Lots of people pick up on Ren "rewinding the hands of time" with his guitar riff in the early part of Violets Tale. You're the first reactor I've seen who got it when he brought it back to the present with his guitar riff. Way to pay attention! Nice reaction 👍🤙🤙🤙
It means of over 100 reactors I have watched... YOU WIN! ... You are the FIRST I have seen actually get it. Actually undestood. All the bits and pieces! The 3rd watch Reaction is Beautiful! Thank you.
Goose bumps. Tears. Stunned. And yes, yes, yes. Welcome to the RENegades, young man. Please check out everything he does. The Big Push will blow you away. You are one of his best reactors so far! Thank you. 💜
The way he plays guitar at the beginning of Violet's tale is called "tapping". It is often used with electric guitars in rock/metal tracks. And showing your emotions is nothing to be ashamed of. On the contrary. Ren opens the way for many guys to show how they feel and be confortable with that. Subbed !
Your reaction to this is my absolute favorite and I often come back to watch it especially after watching others who just dont get it or barely listen.
Well, this is a way to make me smile on a Saturday ha. Thank you for that, Jessica. I really appreciate that. Did my best to take my time and try to get it as quick as I could, and give it the attention and love it deserved.
My favorite idiosyncrasy of Rens performance is his use of rhythms from everyday life .. the sound of a speed bag in Violets tale as stevie hits her ,,, the sound rhythm of sprinting at top speed during the opening of Screech's tale (bass notes are breathes) things like this even if you dont know what it is.. it Lends to the authenticity of the piece .. you know that these sounds BELONG where they are
Hit me so hard! I actually gasped at the reveal at the end. Hands flew up to my open mouth and I sat stunned for a few minutes. What a gut punch! What a storyteller! Just mindblowing, really.
When I first discovered the song Hi Ren, that was my introduction to Ren Gill's music. The full tale of Jenny and Screech was the second of his performance pieces that I watched. And I was so floored by his talent, and how he's a full-performance artist, not just a singer, that I was going to everyone I know trying to get them to listen to him with me! Until that time, I had never watched any reaction videos, but I really needed that confirmation.... that Ren's storytelling was hitting other people like it hit me. Out of the dozens of reactions that I've watched now, in last four months, I have to say that yours is the most genuine, the most timely with respect to the subject matter and pointing things out in genuinely organic ways as you listen. I have now subscribed to your channel, and I look forward to learning about other artists through your eyes. You're awesome man! Thank you for bringing the human element to my fingertips for Ren's music. ❤
This was very emotional, wasn't it? I cried my eyes out the first time I heard this trilogy! Btw, you got on Disco Doc's radar 🤩 and you are going places 😉Just ask @JointdaleRecords 😊
First time I heard the tales I was blown away by the Tarantino-like story weaving back around and closing it all off. The first 2 tales I thought were pretty rough around the edges, especially the cinematography aspects. But the feels of the next several listens got harder and harder as I was really feeling for the kids in the first 2/3rds.... And then I also started feeling the cinematography and acting abilities were better than I initially gave it credit for. Violet's tale was chef's kiss from start to end. Now, I want this in a 8 episode Netflix limited series. Edit: let me also just point out the little guitar riffs in each tale foreshadow how the tale will go.
It's funny you mention him performing in the street... in Jenny's tale there's a guy smoking on the fire escape. Apparently they did get the occasional "Shut the F* Up". Ren said he'd like to go back to doing these type of videos...somehow I think he's too known now (#1 in the UK...woohoo) but it'd be interesting to see him try.
Fantastic reaction! You took the time to re-watch. No one else that I’ve seen has done that and I ‘ve watched dozens of reactors try this song. Most just sit blinking at the camera not really comprehending. You obviously enjoy heated, interesting, challenging discourse. Thank you so much for this. It was 🔥
Oh I for sure do. If you're subbed and stay around for a while, you'll learn that about me and maybe even jump in one day. :) Hope to see you in other video comments! And thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate that and try my hardest to be different and stand out. :)
New subscriber as a huge Ren fan. It's so much fun watching someone tumble down the Ren rabbit hole.for the first time. Please consider doing one of his top end raps next, Illest of Our Time, The Hunger or Genesis would be great places to begin x
One other thing that is very easy to miss: Violets Tale when he pinches Violets eye lids open... the picture was blury, when he lifted her lids it focused - Ren is one of a kind and thinks of everything!
You have my respect and support. I have watched other reactions that were not genuine. You are. All 1 mill plus fans should now support you, in my humble a opinion
Aw, thank you for that. I really appreciate that, I like these kinds of comments the most. I wish that would happen haha. But really, thanks for the kind words.
I respect that you rewatched to pick up on what you (may have) missed. I also like that you aren’t bagging on Screech. The kid, like his momma, never stood a chance. Yes, he chose violence but he didn’t have to die. One small thing could have made all the difference. They had no one in their corner.
Oh yeah, I had to re-watch. Doing Live Reacts are hard for this very reason, but it was a good time to do it the second way through and it was amazing. And I'm just always a fan of giving people (as much as I can) the benefit of the doubt. So wanted to at least talk about that perspective too, so thanks for being open to that point-of-view.
😤👹😡 It's terrible that this is a recurring family dynamic in our society... Violet's dad sexually abused her, and her mom knew it was happening. She ignored it & tried to erase the knowledge by numbing herself with drugs & alcohol. Violet fell in love with Stevie because she was taught that Abuse=Love. Also, it's crazy that they all died so young (Violet at 16, the twins at 14), but trauma was all they ever knew. Violet probably felt dead inside long before she met Stevie, so choosing her baby over herself was the easiest decision she ever made. It's sad to say, but it's almost a blessing that they died young & the cycle (at least their part of it) died with them. 🥺🤔😖
Don't feel bad, I didn't completely get it until at least the 2nd listen, & I still learn something new with every listen. U pointed out that she was a street walker & I hadn't put that together yet. Great job! Ur reactions are very thought provoking. I can't wait till u get into his rap catalog... Genesis, The Hunger, Illest of Our Time, What You Want, Animal Flow, etc... it's all 🔥🔥🔥🔥. He literally doesn't miss no matter what genre he's doing. ❤❤
Jenny had "walked these streets a thousand times before" but this time the was a "divine intervention telling her to beware." Did they have that psychic connection? As the husband of a twin, i can tell you there is something in it. My wife has predicted phone calls from her twin numerous times. They even call each other on "a feeling" to find they were hoping for it or needing to hear from the other. It was freaky at first.
I think Stevie is the dad and when Violet died the kids were put in the foster system never knowing they were twins- only to repeat the cycle of violence.
The way I understand is Violet's own father is the father to Jenny and Screech... Ren spared us details of what he did to her but went into detail how and what Stevie did to Violet physically. Also, Stevie calls Violet a slut and a liar... Violet left home at 16 to live in government housing due to being pregnant. ( we speculate because otherwise she would have been in foster care herself due to abuse ) .
I never get sick of hearing “Who the hell is Violet??” 😂😂😂
Lmao that made me laugh.
(haven't watched his reaction fully) my personal favourite is “Im Ready Im Ready”, knowing full well violets tale my response is always aloud “no, no you’re not.”
I’m making a “Who the hell is Violet?” shirt
@@traceybarger2628 This would be a seller.
🤣🤣😅😂🤣
So, my brother and I grew up in the foster care system. We came from a family much like this situation in the song. It is a tragedy. However, we were able to escape the generational trauma and we both have amazing families. We are very lucky.
Jeez, I can't imagine. I'm very happy for you to have not only left that but seemingly become stronger in the end. That's what you love to see. Glad you're here. :)
@@TheBlackSpeed your comment meant a lot to me 💕
Of course. I got you. :)@@ShondaLouisianaMama
Good on you! Similar here.
It hit about 2 seconds before the said "twins" too. I was screaming in yelling in traffic people probably thought I was nuts
We live in a fucked up world. Be kind to each other. Respect to you Sir x
@@Monica-sw9ld I want to smash Steve's face in.
Fr the same, seeing other people reacting seems to make it a little easier, since emotions are generally shared
Ren is a master lyricist and the fact he did all these live and in one take is astounding. In an interview he said he does it that way as proof of concept because he has a screenplay written for a Netflix series like Black Mirror but with music.
Truly a modern day Bard.
yessssss💚
This trilogy hits on so many levels the sad thing is this week a 15 year old girl was stabbed to death by a 15 year old boy in London and this cycle of violence just keeps going on . Thanks for taking your time to thoughtfully go through this one ❤❤❤
The boy was 17.
@@daisy9910 and soon people will be calling him Evil but won’t ask the questions why!
@@daisy9910 since they were twins.....
If Ren put this out in 2019, then 2005 (referenced in Violet's Tale) is 14 yrs ago.
Richard's Tale. Think about it, can you imagine the generational abuse? What if....?
Doc sent me ! You have to listen closely to Ren. There is not a single song of his that is not amazing. He is a musical genius and a wordsmith extraordinaire ❣️
❤
The first time I watched this, I heard him say “twins” at the end of “Violet’s Tale” and pretty much had the same reaction as you…
PS - you are NOT dumb or stupid, please don’t talk about yourself that way!!!
It's neat that we can literally improve someone's life just by giving a crap and spending a few minutes watching good content.
That's really sweet of you and thank you for even calling it out. I do my best for yall and myself, and love when it's appreciated. :)
Sure is. :) Simple things can make us smile!
Its great!
Well done prisons are full of traumatised people but people would say they are evil and never ask where did they come from!! Great reaction!
Unfortunately, some are evil. 😞
Hard for more than you know 😢
Out of all the things Ren can do, master at guitar, piano, story telling and great at rapping and beat boxing but his best talent in my opinion by far is his beautiful voice.
REN is our modern day Shakespearean bard: REN = Bardcore!
Yep, it may take time, but Ren's people have always removed or shared revenue, so they're cool that way!
DiscoDoc sent me. Rising Tidesday featured YOU !
As usual, The Tales gave me shivers ! Great reaction. Subbed 🇬🇧
❤
I just hope @renmakesmusic hops in. I hear he's bored ATM???😂
I have listened to this song about 20 times and didn't realize she walked the streets like that. thank you for pointing that out.
Even in the song Ren once refers to him as "our villain."
But within the overall context of society, context of this song, the repetitious cycles of trauma and abuse of course the root cause of what we're seeing here.
Love that you watched it twice, great reaction
Ren seems to have found a way to project his stories directly into the brain. This story, after I first listened to it, had me feeling like I had just finished watching a full length, high definition, movie. I had to watch it again just to see if there were any other actors, or if my mind just put them in there! LOL!! He creates some super vivid images.
This is the first artist I've ever seen on youtube that I've been compelled to binge watch as much as this.
Ren is changing the game.
I'm cool with that!
Awesome reaction, by the way!!
Cheers!
Youre so right, its his story telling and delivery. Its out of this world. You picture this whole story in your mind
I'm.glad you watched 2nd time, more I watched, more I understood and I cried a few times when i realised the cycle of abuse
_Mwah_ *chef's kiss*
Appreciated this reaction - again thanks for uploading both play-throughs in a single vid and I'm that much more bummed that I only joined the livestream in literally the last minute...
that whole part in the stairway in Violet's tale with the echo... it get's me every time. 🥺
Coming in after your livestream, wow! Fascinating & thoughtful discussion. Hats off, mate. Best discussion I’ve heard about the Tales!💞🙂🌸
Aww, thank you.
Your realization walkoffs are everything.
Lmao it's become a staple of the channel at this point.
I'm not being hard on myself anymore haha. Thank you for that, glad you stopped by and got it with me!
Only 3mins??? The 1st time I sat for about 1hr. Justin Hawkins wrapped it up well,.if you get the chance, go listen.
Though I LOVED THIS REACTION EQUALLY.

Like a Shakespere tragedy. I love your level of intellect with facing the real world in this story. I also like your Daddy shirt.
Haha thank you, my son got it for me. :)
Everyone misses the significance of "two-zero-zero-five"
The Jenny tale and the Screech tale were written and recorded two years before Violet's tale.
IKR? Even though he literally says for Violet's tale we have to go back in time. To 2005....Ren is a lyrical genius.
@@The_Sound_Doctor1957 Close. Violet's tale begins at the hospital in 2005. Then we go further back than that, to tell us how Violet got to be in the hospital, That's at least months back.
The best reaction to Jenny and Screetch. Fantastic discourse.
You deserve a Ren Visit!
These are the comments I really appreciate.
with these live recordings he uses the acoustics of the buildings and rooms for reverb and pitch... talant soaked in Talant
He says: All gas, no brakes!
LOL, You didn't stand a chance, but you put up a good fight, and your whole take was fire!
Hahaha. I tried my damnest! But hey, we had a good time discussing.
If you notice, the first video (Jenny's tale) was posted in 2019, so the dates actually line up with perfectly the fact that they're 14 and born in 2005 (which connects to Violet's tale even though it was posted in 2021)
Bro this is a masterpiece of a mindjob 🤯 ❤ 😅 Ren redefines what being an artist is... 🎉
Love the reaction, it was cool to see you get the clues, I didn't get it until the second time.
DISCO DOC is sending subs to you .
❤
Generational trauma: our story it starts, right where it ends; our story it ends, right where it starts...
That was great, watching A penny drop, while thinking 'he hasn't really watched that properly" to watching THE penny drop. Brilliant! 🖤
Haha. Yes, it all came together as intended. :)
The second it hit you is priceless! One of the best reactions I've seen! Thanks.
Haha I think we all had a good time with that one, including me, huh? I love it, I'm glad you stuck around for it.
No movie burns images into your brain like Ren's words do.
After 50 reactors, you are the first to mention the guitar transition forward. Great catch. The story twist and talent of Ren and camera work is second to none.
Great reaction and you not dumb. Most of us listened a few times and figured it out.
Officially my new favorite reaction channel. Sooooo many people jumped on the bandwagon, the hype, but absolutely did not connect. I’m super stoked that you took the time to watch it twice. It’s an absolutely winning format for a performance piece like this. Thanks again. ☮️
Aw, that's very kind of you. I really do appreciate that. Hope you enjoy the deep dive, I have ton of videos on the channel!
I really appreciate that you listened to it twice in a single reaction video.
It takes several watches to catch the full story, imho.
❤
Sir, you are not stupid! It took me 2 watches to put it together. Then afterwards it sets in bit by bit. Loved the reaction. Now you can watch reactions to this song and watch the story register and hit the watcher. Love your vibe. This renegade will definitely be back!
Hey ! Thanks for this. I love the double watch deep dive! im commenting for the algo. You've got a great voice😊
Hope you're ready ! The doc's sending you many renegades 😊
❤
Don’t ever fear bad about rewinding/relistening to a Ren performance….we all do it and other reactors do it. There are so many layers of sound- lyrics - music - lyrics and visuals. Great Job😂
Ren is one of those generational artist that will not be forgot. He has such range and versatility… and did it independent. Think about what we missed out on before the internet !
I was on the live but it's great to watch it back and get to see you realize stuff all over again without being a bit distracted by chatting as well
Yep, the second play-through was definitely warranted and glad I decided to do it. Still had fun talking to yall and having a bit of back-and-forth at first though too haha.
Doing the trilogy live was so smart so you could ask the chat questions

Thank you.
I appreciate that! I definitely tried my best with everything going on. :)
that rewind lick... glad you went back for it 😎
I HAD to haha. :)
Goose bumps. Tears. Stunned. And yes, yes, yes. Welcome to the RENegades, young man. Please check out everything he does. The Big Push will blow you away. You are one of his best reactors so far! Thank you. 💜
Aw, that is nice of you to say. The welcoming sure has been warm and exciting, and I'm definitely not done. We have more to do!
The way he plays guitar at the beginning of Violet's tale is called "tapping". It is often used with electric guitars in rock/metal tracks. And showing your emotions is nothing to be ashamed of. On the contrary. Ren opens the way for many guys to show how they feel and be confortable with that. Subbed !
Love how you got it before he even said it! Some people don’t even get it after😂great reaction, I love Ren so much!
Watching it for the second time was an awesome decision. It turned a very good reaction into an amazing one. Thank you TheBlackSpeed! ❤
This was really nice to read, and I appreciate you taking the time. I do my best and glad it was appreciated. :)
This was very emotional, wasn't it? I cried my eyes out the first time I heard this trilogy! Btw, you got on Disco Doc's radar 🤩 and you are going places 😉Just ask @JointdaleRecords 😊
❤
Trauma is Agnostic. 🤯 Brilliant
I was feelin' myself when I said that one lol. But it's also true, to me anyway.
Jenny had "walked these streets a thousand times before" but this time the was a "divine intervention telling her to beware."
Did they have that psychic connection?
As the husband of a twin, i can tell you there is something in it.
My wife has predicted phone calls from her twin numerous times.
They even call each other on "a feeling" to find they were hoping for it or needing to hear from the other.
It was freaky at first.
Interesting. I was definitely just guessing when I thought that but I had to have thought there was something to it.
See, the real reactions, like this one, almost always just.. silence.
Stunned, amazed silence.
