I was doing research this morning and came to that discovery myself. Yes, Leffe is a blond and I was pleased to realize that the Pale Ale is modelled after the English beers and is less yeast forward. Which makes yeast choice even more critical here. Cheers! -Mike
We need to come up with a Jar of Destiny tshirt. I would buy that. Maybe something like "Screw the magic 8 Ball I live by the Jar of Destiny!" Something like. "The Jar of Destiny, Arbiter of Fate!"
Belgian pale ale is a wonderful style. Had the great fortune to be in Antwerp many times and DeKoninck was always my go to beverage. Can't wait for the results. Thanks Dudes!
Mike, I agree with you on the challenge of many Belgian yeast strains. Maybe you've thought of a split batch with two, or more, different yeast strains (for the sake of science)?!?! Love the Jar! Cheers!
You need to look into Palm or De Konick, these are the real Belgian pale ales. The latter is drier and for my taste the best. Palm is a bit cloying. De Rijcke is excellent as well, but hard to get in Belgium, so probably Impossible in the States. Good luck brewing!!
Dudes, today is my brew day. Hair of the Weiner Wheat already in the fermenter. Used local raw red wheat and an old school cereal mash. Now I'm on to a basic pale ale.
@@BrewDudes came out perfect, exactly what I wanted. Light, summery wheat beer, American style yeast so no banana, and my home grown lemon grass adds just a hint of lemon and ginger. I'm very happy.
BJCP 2021 7c = Altbier, not kellerbier (that was the 2015 edition). Love Altbier, suggest you go with the 2021 rather than the 2015 definition - very distinct style and a well offered choice from the jar!
We state in the beginning of the video we are working off of the 2015 version. That was the version published when we created the Jar concept. Cheers! -Mike
Lovin The Jar of Destiny series!
Pls keep it going!
Leffe is a blond ale. Pale ale is supposed to be less phenolic, with less yeast character. Both are exciting! Love the jar!

Nice beer choices guys, good luck to both of you. Cheers.
Crushing it dudes. Looking forward to these two.
Great picks. Wlp550 for the win
Love the hop character v yeast choice- look forward too it 👍
Looking forward to these.
Views to likes Ratio is 30%. Guess that’s a vote to keep going. 🇦🇺🍻

Antwerp is a nice mellow town....some nice pubs where you can sit and just absorb the atmosphere

@@carlkessler303 Excellent - CHEERS!
WLP 510 is my favorite. It's across between 500 and 550. Its more plum like wlp 500, but clean like wlp 550 with less spicey phenols.
Thanks for that info it helps with my yeast research for sure. Cheers! -Mike

@@nicksutton6373 I don’t have a 7C in my copy of 2021 guidelines. Altbier is 7B in my reference

I think a pale kellerbier is just an immature/young Helles or Pils. Not really a distinct beer style as such.
Slightly over hopped and fermented by letting the temperature free rise. Keller-bier literally means basement-beer.
