This works sometimes: bang on relay. I had a horn relay that would not work. So I disconnected battery. Tugged, poked, whacked and shook relay. Would not come out. Read it had to be replaced with whole relay tray, or cut out. Hooked up battery to call it a night and presto it worked. I guess it was just stuck with a little corrosion. If does it again I'll drill 3 tiny holes in the top and spray silicone spray into relay to possibly fix corrosion issue for long time.
I wonder if this is an artificial intelligence generated voice-over. The reason I say that is the odd way the word relay is pronounced. Emphasis should be on the first syllable not the second. As in relay relay relay relay relay relay relay relay relay relay.

I have now bought a starter from advanced auto parts which is sitting in the backseat of the car while i look for a smaller mechanic to fix it. My car is still starting but often makes a whirring type noise and takes longer to start. Now Im worried i might need a starter relay and not a starter?! It sounds like it isn't included in the box with the starter. And what about the solenoid... is that included on the starter or is it a completely different part?
The starter motor relay is separate from the starter motor and the attached solenoid. Yes most starters have the solenoid attached to it. It may look to sort of like a little cylinder 2 inch in diameter maybe four inches long in sitting right next to the starter motor itself which is maybe 5 in diameter probably. The solenoid is basically an electromagnet that when you give it power it will do a couple things.. it throws the small pinion gear ( you can probably see on the end of your starter motor) forward until it makes contact with the teeth on the Big ear of the flywheel at the rear of the engine. The second thing that the solenoid does is it has big electrical contacts in it so that when the electromagnet throws pinion gear forward into the teeth of the flywheel of the main engine it also makes contact for the starter motor to get a lot of electricity and turn the engine over..

Ok I have a 2017 ford feista 1.6. All the sudden it wouldn't start. I noticed that the starter continued to turn 4 to 5 times after I turn the key back to accessory. Replaced the start and it still won't start and the dam high dollar starter still turns 4 or 5 time after the comes back to accessory.killing me. I also replaced the ignition switch

I think the silicone spray would mess up your contacts. Maybe try the spray for electrical contacts.
What about intermittently starting? Vehicle will start cold. When hot sometimes it turns over and sometimes it doesn't. No crank no start.
If I had time I'd actually count how many times "starter relay" was excessively repeated.

If you bought a starter, it should have automatically came with connected solenoid.
