I have had a serious video game addiction for most of my life. It was not until I turned 26 that I realized time is running out and I wanted something more important to do with my life. I have not touched my xbox for 3 months! I have been producing art almost every single day in sketches and in longer studies. I gotta say, you are huge inspiration.
BTW, I would love to see your newer work. Plus, what are your thought on John William Waterhouse? It is my current goal to attempt to replicate his palette paint selection, and his composition.

Thank you so much for your videos! I come from a corner in the world where an art museum is a 2-hour bus ride away, and I have been looking for my own style until I saw your videos and artwork. Since then I'm also trying to relearn the classical style and incorporate it with modern mixed media. I still have a long way to go so I look forward to learn more from you. Thanks again!

In my head I imagine a lot of hidden beauty beneath all the oppression. Im so curious what kind of art is being made there too. But, I do understand it not being inspiring for u.

I’ve been watching your videos on UA-cam lately and you have truly inspired me to grow as an artist. What I usually do now is take an non copy written photo off of pixabay or something like that and paint it. You have encouraged me to think deeper and explore my inner self to develop my skills way deeper than I’m used to. I really think that your art is an expression of yourself and I have been to plain and dull for too long. Somewhere along the way from high school to now I have lost my desire to grow and get better. To me, my journey is turned a new corner and I want to thank you for sharing your experiences!

His planes of the head cast is sold out, but a good alternative is the John Asaro version. In fact the John Asaro planes of the head is better because it's a full head, not cut off in the back as the one Cesar is showing. Also John has just released a planes of the figure cast. It can be used to study the figure.

Hello, Cesar. I would love to see a REAL sketchbook of yours. The actual sketchbook you take with you on the metro, to doctor's appointments, while waiting in line at the bank, where you draw while waiting for your food at the restaurant, etc...
By that, I mean that I want to see your thinking DRAWINGS. Where you work out your composition studies, your thumbnails etc... You know? Your BOOK of SKETCHES. That's what I consider a sketchbook. I'm sure you don't sit at the coffee shop with a full oil palette, turpentine, prepping geso, and full set of brushes. These "Sketchbooks" you keep showing us, just seem to be a place where you make "FINISHED" smaller paintings.
I love your work. And that's why I'm intrested in seeing your drawings. Thanks.

Hello Cesar! When you were showing the page where you had painted the portrait in real time, you had those colors next to it that had been taken out of context, Was wondering if you could do a tutorial about that, because for me I often look at a model or just anything that I want to paint and have absolutely no idea what is the color that I need to use, this mostly happens indoors.

I LOVE your fearless commentary and I LOVE hearing from an artist that works like he has REAL skin in the game. I've got a couple of things I'd love to hear your opinion on--
On one hand, there's the modern tendency to dismiss representational art, but also many representational schools are mad-dogmatic about traditional methods and techniques almost for their own sake? You seem to be making the most of this tension with your Syncratism?
Also, how do you deal with periods where you feel creatively resistant?
How do you feel about the value of participating in art competitions?

  • @Skele_Rat
    @Skele_Rat 6 років тому

You are my favorite youtuber when talking about art and the person with most engaging words or "speeches" in this platform.
Watching one of your videos is better time spent than watching other ten random videos.
Some days I don't want to draw because I'm tired or lacking time, but I remember that as I have this much passion about art, others have too and I force myself to do even if a little thing and always end up not wanting to stop either haha.
I study alone and the situation around where I live is the worst possible if you want to get in touch with art school, a museum or a library and when you do it's so expensive, well we struggle but I'm aiming to draw or paint as good as you soon.
So, that's just a thanks letter and for me, "fascinating" is the word to describe your job here.

I'm happy to say that while watching these sketchbook videos, I took one of my almost empty sketchbooks off the shelf and started drawing. Thank you for the inspiration- and for these great vids!

I love you Santos, you can totally inspire me and you have such a nice energy. Also i am trying to learn how to draw and paint by myself so it s very nice to hear that somebody also has such a passion for it, that it is worth trying

I'd love to see your beginning works. Also where do you get your sketchbooks from. Or how do you transport and store them while they dry. I imagine you work a few booms at a time. Thanks again for the amazing video.

I would love to see an old sketch book and particularly if you could show us how you developed your portrait work down through the years , and the advice you would give to yourself in regards a particular page of your old sketchbook. Thank you
