  • Two Russians ended up fleeing their country by boat to Alaska to avoid war mobilization. Maksim Teyunaut and Sergei Nechayev used to live in Chukotka, Russia, but sailed to the nearest Alaskan island of St. Lawrence as soon as officers arrived to mobilize them for Russia's war in Ukraine.

As a Russian citizen who's in Russia and against the war I wish them all of the best in their new life.

Fighting for your country is one thing. But when you’re being conscripted while the ethnic Russians in western Russia aren’t being conscripted, I’d have a problem with that and refuse to fight too.

I hope these men can some day return to a free Chukotka.

For context, this would be like a 2 hour open ocean crossing (on a good weather day) in my 19ft fishing boat. Dangerous, yes - even more so in bad weather, but not impossible. I could see where they felt like the real danger was in getting caught.

War is a huge waste of every single thing I'm glad they see that and chose not to participate

And they are not even Russian...They are most probably Tunguz😞used as cannon fodder...My heart goes to them, may Christ protect them ☦🙏🏼

Thanks for the update on these two guys! I was wondering what had happened to them and I've been hoping that they would be treated well. Best wishes for the future!

Yes, Putin is drafting men in all the remote areas, he dare not draft in Moscow, or St Petersburg. There are whole villages emptied of men who have died in Putin's disastrous Ukraine invasion.

conquered peoples of east russia, rise, this is not your war !

  • @kostanabanjac4896

I have mixed feelings about stories like this being reported. Each time a new escape route/method is identified, the route is closed, or guarded more vigilantly thus endangering further crossings. Well done to these two and all others. 👏❤️

as a russian woman i hate seeing that many men, my male friends included, have to flee their country like this, but its still best than being sent to war. i have not seen one of my best friends for over a year. the other was declined boarding at the airport. they are good men, not willing to participate in this "special operation" and kill our neighbors. i hope someday our country will be free from this regime.
