A lot of Americans actually descend from people fleeing wars in Europe, or other hardships caused by wars like hunger and poverty. My own family came from Germany in the early 1900's, and many other people in my area (mostly Irish or German descendants) have a similar story

It'll be interesting to see what impact this war has on Russia's future ability to rebuild its military troop strength numbers with volunteers after all this. Maintaining a military for the purpose of national defense is understandable, but not for unprovoked invasion in this global modern age where most economies are largely centered around international trade.

I was raised in eastern Washington state and thousands of Russians settled in the area beginning in the late 80’s. They made very poor neighbors and couldn’t care less about fishing and hunting laws.
Isn’t there a town out there called Moscow which I believe predated that Russian settlement activity? Regarding the fishing and hunting laws, it’s very difficult for some people, who have grown up in a society where laws are only enforced when there is personal benefit to gain, to understand that laws are upheld in America simply for the sake of the laws and society itself, rather than because the enforcing officer or his boss has a political gain to be made.
We had groups of foreign flyers come into town to do air shows yearly where I live. I was working as a greeter/asset protection and a group of Russians came in and one threatened to fight me because I smiled at him lol

In Russia today the conscripts are drawn heavily among poverty stricken ethnic population in the east while well connected young Russian males in Moscow and St. Peterburg are spared.
