The Rev inspired me to play metal on drums. I was 9 years old when I heard him play Bat Country, and I remember teaching myself that song and trying to learn The Rev's part. Rest in Peace Jimmy!

for Synyster Gates you need a guitar with seymour duncans and a floyd rose, he used to use Invaders by Seymour Duncan but now has his own signature humbuckers and a sustainer, for amps he has his own signature amp by schecter so maybe something Marshall will do, for pedals he uses little to no effects, probably some compression for buried alive, wah for requiem and delay for any of his guitar solos
Zacky Vengeance used guitars with Seymour Duncan JB pickups so again a guitar with seymour duncan pickups would be close, he used Jet City amps which andertons used to stock but don't now so maybe a blackstar combo, get a chorus for bat country and maybe some overdrive distortion too

Ok, so I love these videos. However I have a suggestion. Perhaps you guys should bring in one of the guitar guys to play through some songs with you. We don’t get a full effect of the kit if we don’t hear the other parts to the song.

no you are wrong. he got close with Bat Country. Almost Easy was completely overplayed and sounded horrible, and Mike Portnoy played on Nightmare.. After the rev had already died. 1/4 isnt a pass let alone "SPOT ON"

4:56 correction: the rev did use a 10" chopper
The 10" sounds so good. I've found you can stack an 8" and 10" aax spash to get a similar sound. Just clamp it down :D

the playing was not spot on at all.... there's a full recording of the rev tracking almost easy in studio on youtube. to say his playing is spot on is spitting in the face of the rev.

What I would do is put a double pedal on the third bass drum and have it wide open with one ply heads and have it as a sort of gong orchestral bass drum

Actually, The Rev used: 8"X 7", 10"X 8", 12"X 10", 14"X 11", 16"X 14" and 18"X 16" TomToms. Cymbals: 14" HiHat, 22" Ride, 10" China, 19" China, 18" Crash, 3 times 10" Splash, 19" Crash, 22" Ride and a 19" China (Sabian), 3 times 22"X 18" Bass Drums and a 14"X 5,5" Snare drum.

This is the first time i see this serie so i don't know how it usually works, but how can you do a 'sound like the rev' and then not use DW drums?
Especially because DW has got a pretty specific sound.
