      And he won! Yay! He's a middle-class kid, no money to play all over the country as a junior golfer like the Austin Greaser types. None of the major powerhouse colleges (Oklahoma State, Georgia, U of Texas, etc) bothered to recruit him, I guess they were too busy recruiting folks overseas whose parents didn't actually pay taxes to support state schools. Anyway, MSU recognized greatness, and this golf program actually does try to help out kids in the state whose families actually do pay the bills of the administrators, profs, coaches, and staff. Hats off to MSU! I wish more schools did the right thing like this.

    reasonable third....hits green from 294 with a hybrid. Nice call

      Terrible calls on the club selection. "looks like a 7i..." then produces 140mph ball speed. Unless the Trackman is wacky, seems like maybe he's giving these players a little too much credit on their horse power...

      @Rick Lewis it was a 3 wood. Nonetheless, it was smoked

      @@zacharymilos392 plenty of these guys are capable of producing 140 BS with a 7 iron. In your defense, that was totally James 3 wood on that shot, not his hybrid.

    • @zacharymilos392
      @zacharymilos392 3 роки тому

      @@dominicchoma much more likely it was a 6i or more. 140 ball on a more bladed 7i is a swing speed of at least 103. Not impossible, just not probable.

      @@zacharymilos392 Potentially, swing does have a good amount of shaft lean at impact which would bring efficiency up. Not crazy to see someone with his swing type put up 1.38-1.40 smash with a 7 iron so I believe it honestly.

    It’s a fairway wood not a hybrid not even DJ carries a hybrid 290. One time I’ll let it pass but they said hybrid when it was obviously a wood multiple times.

    290 yards par 3?? wow...

      That’s just absurd lol

      Agreed, what a stupid hole. Call me biased but Australia has the best part 3s. Short, challenging, always different. Kingston Heath and Royal Melbourne are the best examples of that.

    • @joellahrman4557
      @joellahrman4557 3 роки тому

      Would it make you feel better if they kept the hole exactly the same but called it a driveable par-4?

    • @andyrichards587
      @andyrichards587 3 роки тому

      @@joellahrman4557 it would make far more sense in terms of design. If there is a saving grace for it being a par 3, it's that the green is very large. It's still too small for a 290 yard par 3 but it presents a challenge for distance putting be it tournament players or regular club members from the shorter tees. But let's face it, 290 yards for a par 3 is silly. They could even add some extra hazards as a short par 4

    to the USGA about club length ruling....do as you will sounds good to me. BUT....if you want to make a difference with distance...MAKE THE PROs FIND THEIR OWN BALLS LIKE THE REST OF US. they can just WAIL at it with almost no consequence. having people find their ball for them. make them prove their skill and make them keep the ball in the fairway. I think THAT would be HUGE.

    • @TRaddcliff
      @TRaddcliff 3 роки тому

      @Mr. Chow great, but you can’t deny scores would be different if they had to find their own, just like everyone else does. Why make the game easier for the best in the world?
      This also makes changes without changing gear. If you want to pummel a drive with a 48” driver, go for it, but don’t expect help finding it if you hit it wayward. Risk, reward. Current it’s no risk, reward. They are so good at recovery, that getting it close out weights fairways. Find….your own….ball.

      Thats how it was in the day when you didn't have todays moronic crouds, its tradition for amateur golf for the gallery to be close to the green, i think it's cool.

    • @golfer371
      @golfer371 3 роки тому

      @@EmperorAmun-Ra it’s cool for sure. Mostly referring to tee shots, and the fans being so close to/in the fairway. Just seems like it could be distracting for players. Not that it’s any advantage, all deal with it.

      I followed the Vick pair for 15 holes today crowds were ok fair amount of people following the greaser and vick pair, around the greens they could have maybe been a tad more controlled but they wernt as bad as it looks watching it on TV.
