      I am wondering if the afterlife potema was in WAS the soul cairn because she was necromancer and the ideal masters probably provided her with the power to summon so many undead armys she did make bargins with daedra and who knows what else so maybe when the dragonborn visited the soul cairn she was flying around the place

    Yes. Trap the soul of a demonic werewolf after you've slain it, and make a wedding ring out of the soul gem and give it to your pregnant wife.
    What could possibly go wrong?...

      @spikymarshmallow7611 5 років тому +27

      In a world where demonic swords come to life and literally cut limbs off the forces that made them alive in the first place... Nah, A Daedroth's Soul surely has the honor and moral code not to totally fuck everything up given the opportunity.

      @@spikymarshmallow7611 My question is why they didn't just... enchant the damn thing? Its not hard. They were emperors, surely a court mage could have done it up something nice. A nice romantic enchantment, like fortify stamina, or charm. Or something potentially lifesaving, like poison resistance?
      Its realistic at least. History in our world and theirs is stuffed full of small bits of idiocy causing massive strife.

    • @curvingfyre6810
      @curvingfyre6810 4 роки тому +16

      @@94Newbie no, very different, the soul gem breaks when you enchant, and theres a very specific magical advantage produced. The soul also is NO LONGER THERE, it seperates the lifespark, which is the power source, from the soul, which is the person, giving the soul to the ideal masters, and using the lifespark to enchant, more or less. This did NONE of that, and just slapped a soul gem into a necklace. Soul gems, btw, are kind of meant to be temporary. Even the black star get's a bit iffy with long-term use, as you can see in skyrim. Clearly, this is an example of the damn thing leaking after holding the same soul for too long, as it was able to influence the people who wore it, and place curses. I can walk around with 500 fresh black souls on my person and be fine, but you really shouldn't leave one lying around for decades. Wearing it would be like finding a souvenir at chernobyl, and putting it in a goddamned earring.

Step aside and clear my bounty." and they will be actively terrified into obedience, and you can use it as many times as you like. You can see Skeleton and Draugr guards start to take up residence, perhaps even she could teach you stuff that will help your Conjuration Spells (Maybe along the lines of the Black Books or meditating on the Words of Power)

    I can’t believe how few people are liking this and some of your other deep lore vids. It takes a lot of reading of the in game books, researching the lore from all the ES, and trying to untangle everything that was maybe a “woods we didn’t mean to put that in the timeline,” to this is supposed to be cannon (sp?). It really makes me sad because I know you guys have done a ton of work, grabbed a lot of footage, edited it all, voice stuff, timing to the video. It’s a ton of work! I went to school back in 2000 for 3D animation, but had to study video editing (the really hard way with old school film and tape before editing into the very limited tools in video editing at the time in adobe).
    All video editing now is super easy compared to the stuff we did. But you guys really do a stand up job on your editing.
    I really encourage anyone who thinks the old school method is easy to try it. All i can say is save your cut films for editing a moment in case you cut too many.

With that amount of magical power left in her soul after being dead that long, after having been partially bound in her summoning, and after only being half revived, she was almost definitely a proper dragonborn.

    And it was truly unknown why Pelagius III went mad, who did he succeed as regent of Solitude again? Wasn’t he supposedly visited by an old crone who gave him an amulet, with a soul gem at it’s centre. Incidentally, had Potema actually been resurrected, she would’ve possessed the most legitimate claim to the Ruby Throne, with her resurrection - the Septim Dynasty would’ve been restored. One of the most interesting and ‘unambiguously evil’ characters in ES history.

  • @seprithlicastia463
    @seprithlicastia463 5 років тому +2

    Legitimate claim or not, she would still be insane. I doubt anyone with any sense would actually support her and it would only fracture the weakened Empire even more if they did. Besides, merely being a Septim means nothing anymore; the Dragonfires are gone and the world has moved on from God-King hero worship of Tiber Septim.
    As for the War itself, well done summarizing. There are so many little things that are almost wrapped up into this and I was curious which you would mention. I first learned about the war back in Oblivion during the Knights of Nine quest-line; it was tragic hearing about how this war tore them apart.

    I do wish that I could have had the chance to join her instead of fighting it. I know her turning you into an undead foot-soldier would make it easier for her to control you (also forces you not to join her) but it would have been way cooler to be offered a choice that branched off into something cool. Maybe neither the empire or stormcloaks win, but Potema does and you are at her side, ready to advance the new empire. Her ideal empire. I think it would have been cool to see especially after (only now) knowing what she was like

    I wish we (the dragonborn) had the option to complete the resurrection ritual for Potema. You could side with and help her to retake Solitude and ultimately crush both imperials and stormcloaks and place Potema as high queen of Skyrim. Maybe even marry Potema, as the dragonborn you ARE power which would attract her and even give her a sense of legitimacy to claim the empire itself.

    • @chrisdupuis2523
      @chrisdupuis2523 5 років тому

      To elaborate a touch I have always felt that as dragonborn YOU have a stronger claim to the throne than either Elisef or Ulfric and the majority of people would side with the dragonborn reborn over either of them. A well written story would have you become high king and plant clues to a future where you reunite and rebuild the empire a la Tiber Septim.

    Idk how many comments I've seen about this but mate. When talking about family trees (or even direct descendants) please have a visual. Even a basic one in Times New Roman font with each name above their successors and put a line through them once dead. Cheers

      He mantles the title as the leader of the blades I guess. So maybe depending on what Bethesda says the out come will be either dragon born takes over as the new empire using the power of the thu'um or just ends the blades.

    What if calper cycles are the god heads sleep cycles. If that was the case that means the redguards were able cross dreams and just continue existing despite how impossible that shit should be, that would be both awsome and fucked. This just hit me and i thought id throw it out there.

    The next elder scrolls game needs to have a library of Alexandria type thing in it. It needs to have every book that's in the games in it in chronological order and then numerical order. It'd be a lot easier for loreists to get the info they need and could also double as just a library about the game anyone could go and look at.

    i still and always subscribe to the idea of the player taking the throne. i mean we can accept the emperor's death as canon, even if we didnt do it, and we just happen to be the last true dragonborn.

    We should have been able to side with Potema during the end of the quest. Would have been awesome to have her as a companion and instead of killing her we have to find artifacts to fully resurrect her instead. Imagine having a pissed off partially undead that would need to be smuggled from hold to hold in order to raid old battlefields in an epic grave robbing adventure. Would also give some legitimacy to our Grey Cloak Brethren. Skyrim is for the Nords!

  • @riotautorepair9662

    I think the empire would have been better off honestly with an undead lich potema than it currently is with the aldmeri dominion. History really has come full circle with the high elves enslaving men

    What would have happened if the soul gem containing the werewolf was used? Would it have been trapped in the soul cairn and avoided all this madness? I feel like that would be much smarter than turning it into a family heirloom.
