It cracks me up when home buyers complain that they are too far away from their family and the distance is under 20 miles. I drive that far just to go to the dentist and half that to the grocery store. Do these people not have a car?
I live about 8 miles from my office, which, in my area means an hour or mor commute. If i was heading the other direction the same distance is 15 minutes. It's never about the distance, it's the time.
It beats me why people choose very expensive old low roofed, beamed, thatched roof houses which would need a lot of continuous maintenance and are highly inflammable
I don't get people who worry about investment outlook for the house which - they say - is gonna be their forever home. Andrew and Shane are in for a shock about 10 months down the road.😉
I love the fact that everyone wants a character property, 3-4 bedrooms, a diner-kitchen, a large garden, a good catchment, a garage, no noisy roads, good views, and short commutes for half the budget in the most expensive areas. Obviously, British psychiatrists are not doing their jobs!!!! Either that, or someone has been putting stupidity pills in the water.
How can you withdraw an offer 2 months after it was accepted, solely due to a change in the market? Crazy. Terrible to the seller. You could never get away with that in the US.
Okay so now I'm confused I've watched location location location for a while now and have heard Kirstie say that she didn't believe in feng shui however in this episode she said she does 🤔
Okay, okay, I get it, but I don’t care about transport links because I’m retired, nor might someone who works from home. And I no longer care about schools since my kids are grown. So, if I tell a realtor I want a house with a nice view, but the next buyer doesn’t mention “view,” that doesn’t mean they want to live near a dump. Just prioritizing their wants…
Low ceilings, dark beams? The antithesis of light, bright and spacious house I would want. Also, haven’t these people ever heard of a second mortgage? They are only 15,000 away. Maybe that’s not allowed in England.
Keep in mind it is the UK. Light bright and spacious houses are rare because most houses are terraced houses, meaning you can only get windows at the ends of the property and not the sides, since you have neighbors on both sides of you.
Why though does Phil refer to the sellers as “Vendols” ? Is that Vendor?I cannot understand it. Is it a certain accent? Southern from US here. Also, if someone can tell me, is a semi similar to what we call a duplex? I think I’ve made out that a “ flat” is the US equivalent to a condo. Thank you!❤
He is in fact saying vendors as it's the correct term but he has a slight speech impairment. A semi in the UK is a semi detached house, semi as in partially in this case as its adjoined to the next door property, a duplex is still a two storey condo /flat 😁
(Does it matter what people call a room? ...sometimes Kirstie will say "It's being used as a sitting room, but you could have it as your bedroom." Then ... sofa, couch, settee, loveseat....! In French: Canape)
I'm America, we call them Living Room and Family Rooms. My grandmother had a much smaller house than me. She had one front living room. Then she had a dining room attached to a small kitchen. On the second floor she had three bedrooms and one bathroom. She did have a finished basement which was a bar / rumpus room with a nice entry to a tiny backyard. My house has a living room and a family room when opposite sides. Between them is a kitchen and a dining room along with the staircase to the second floor. I also build a patio enclosure extension that gave me a sunroom. My second floor has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. My basement is only partially finished with a bedroom and a bathroom. The rest is utilities and storage.
I can understand it though because it was right after the housing crash, and prices went downhill from there so of course he was nervous and scared about what was going on.
Yes, and no bedrooms, no bathrooms, and no kitchen, also in the worst neighborhood with lots of crime, and they want to spend 9 billion pounds in an isolated area far from everything and everyone.

I'm sorry, but can someone explain to me why a person would need to have three living rooms? Like, what the heck is wrong with you if you need three living rooms in order to live your everyday life? And on top that, you want four bedrooms? God. Get out of here, princess, lol. Gosh. Again, what the heck is wrong with you? You're not Beyonce, lol.
American homes with a dining room, living room and family room have three reception rooms. A master bedroom, two kids rooms and a guest room/office are not an excessive amount of bedrooms.
@@serenakoleno9338 A lot of homes don't have dining rooms or family rooms. I've never been in a house that had an eat-in-kitchen, a separate dining room, a living room, and a family room. I don't know. I just think it's excessive.
Poor people are worse lol. At least rich people can afford to be picky. It would be excruciatingly painful to watch people be picky when they have no money lol
I can somewhat see the charm, but these houses,to some American eyes, look so not up to housing code, as we call it in America. Uneven walls, the roof looks iffy, the walls are weird, the decor is dreadful, the rooms seem dark and dank. Everything is a mishmash. The rooms have low ceilings and seem cramped. The kitchen is a horror. I guess the HISTORY of the place means more to many English. For approximately 700,000 dollars I could get several pristine green acres, 4/5 bedrooms, maybe a nice pool, in a gated community! But, okay.....
You do understand that a lot of these houses were built over 100 years ago, right? They're not going to come with acres of land, and several bedrooms and a pool and gates. And not to mention, cough, but the US is a lot larger than the UK is. No duh the houses are going to be larger and more modern.
Thank goodness. As an American, I think our homes are so boring...any new build looks like a house version of a hotel room. We don't have character or history to our buildings, unless it's mid-century or further back. We rip all the character out and put up drywall, I just don't get it. UK's homes can be so interesting and full of imagination. Sometimes more is just more.
An even larger garden would be great but I'd definitely go for mature trees and a feeling of nature over manicured blandness.
Yeah, but there was a problem with levels. It was like a stepladder. Not fit for purpose for playing catch or the like.
Yes! An English garden let run a bit… ❤
