They need a taint team! (One of the ugliest phases in the legal universe.) But that’s what they need- a lawyer who is working for Donna, but doesn’t interface with the other lawyers, whose only job is to review the materials from the investigator to see what’s most important to their case and make decision with the judge as to what materials they can/cannot see. Once that work is done, the lawyer goes away and doesn’t participate on the rest of the case. No taint (pardon me). Simple as that.
Judge Everett was in a no win position- if he lets Donna’s attorneys stay on the case, there could be a conflict, and she can appeal a conviction. If he removes the attorneys from the case, she has her right to preferred counsel potentially violated…and she can appeal a conviction. It’s a lose-lose scenario. Kobayashi Maru.
She’s a desperate guilty murderer….attempting to prolong the inevitable remainder of her life in prison
She wants a trial. She opted for a speedy trial. She doesn't want to delay anything.
Let’s please not count our chickens before they hatch.
