  • The best Legend Of Zelda game is the one where your prize for collecting a bunch of seeds is a trophy made of doo doo.
    There’s a lot I didn’t cover here, but I liked to think I covered the basics, along with my insights and analysis after playing it for a few years given the length of this essay. I recommend Chapters 2, 6, and 7 to get into the deeper analysis on themes, video game storytelling, subtext, the hero's journey, and how Link's journey relates to our lives
    Chapters/Time Stamps:
    1. Introduction - 00:00
    2. Gaming History Matters - 01:59
    3. The Beauty And Wonder (And Danger!) of Hyrule - 17:14
    4. The People, Animals, and Monsters - Oh My ! - 24:25
    5. Can’t Be Too Dangerous If You’re Not Alone - Mipha, Daruk, Urbosa, and Revali - 35:04
    6. Meta-Zelda - Ancient Tales To Be Retold Again And Again - 41:19
    7. Appreciating Nature Through Open-World Gameplay - 51:22
    8. On The Other Hand - 58:28
    9. Conclusion - 01:05:32

    Thanks for watching this video essay on BREATH OF THE WILD, as this was a real passion project and a labor of love for a game I have thoroughly enjoyed revisiting again and again since 2017. There's was plenty of material not covered here, but I like to think I covered the basics as well as some insights and analysis of the deeper themes and meaning of this game. What did you think about this game and what it says about your lives?

    This is possibly the most underrated video I have ever seen. Congratulations. I love finding other small content creators to support, and this is one of the best ones I’ve seen in a long time. You have earned my subscription.

    'We can all agree that Link to the Past, and the shameless rip off of it that came next will live on forever as timeless classics'
    Fair enough, carry on.

      @@armchairbrain I think that it is quite the testament that even though what I said is true, what you said about it is also true.
      It goes to show how strong Link to the Past was, and how compelling adding detail can be.
      I have also said many times that BotW felt like the game that OoT had on its title screen. There was even more untapped potential in OoT, and I am glad that it is starting to be harvested, for it is sweet fruit.

    There are no 'multiple timelines' in Zelda, that was all nonsense that is thankfully behind us.

      Yes, and I’m only 80 hours into TOTK (needed a break from because it’s…overwhelming, but in a great way). Still absolutely dig BOTW, and pretty much anything Zelda, even the bad games are worth it just out of curiosity.
      Thanks for the comment :-)

    It has its flaws but I like BOTW over TOTK. TOTK felt copy and paste for me.

    • @armchairbrain
      @armchairbrain  Місяць тому

      I think they both play each other off really well (TOTK is really great), but take away the sky islands and depths, and TOTK could work as a DLC.
      Thanks for the comment :-)

    I think Diablo 2 is a better christian game than Doom, but they are the best in the field.

    • @armchairbrain
      @armchairbrain  9 місяців тому

      Eh, the *DOOM* series probably has a better case. At least it's not subtle about what it is, however simplistic it may be. Demons = bad. Doomguy = good.
      Thanks :-)
