Steely Dan has that cool jazz vibe oozing through every song. You could pick any song at random by them and have the same positive reaction. My favorite: “FM (No Static at All)”

You are going to really REALLY enjoy some Steely Dan. I am excited for you man! And yes, Steely Dan in the morning sets a mighty mighty good tone for the day :-)
The Dan is the most musically sophisticated group out there. Jazz, pop, funk and rock sublime! All songs are masterpieces! This entire album is a classic- from 1979!
How did I miss this... Amazing song!!! As I get older, Steely Dan has become one of my go to bands. Please check out "Any Major Dude Will Tell You" and "My Old School"
Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Deep Purple have so many insanely great songs after 40-50 years of listening to these bands I never tire of them!!!
Great reaction, brother. Steely Dan has been sampled by so many hip hop artist. They are dope! They're funky. Keep digging. You're record collection is gonna grow, lol. I love that natural background. I wish I had it. Stuck in the city. I'm envious my friend.
You can never go wrong with the genius that is Steely Dan. Check out their body of work and take your time loving it. Can’t Buy a Thrill is loaded with goodies.
Knew you’d like them! Some other good songs are: FM, Hey Nineteen, Green Earrings, and the list goes on. You just might have to add their album Aja to your collection.
Steeley Dan collaborated with other extremely accomplished musicians. Michael Franks and others (of course) did the same thing and its a brilliant thing to do. Check out Night Moves from Michael Franks The Art of Tea album.
This is just the first course of an entire album that serves up one moment of sheer musical brilliance after another --it takes your breath away and sticks hard in your mind. Personal favorite is "Home At Last," but the whole thing is genius.
Steely Dan is an American jazz fusion band founded in 1972 by core members Walter Becker (guitars, bass, backing vocals) and Donald Fagen (keyboards, lead vocals). Blending rock, jazz, latin music, reggae, traditional pop, R&B, blues,[2] and sophisticated studio production with cryptic and ironic lyrics, the band enjoyed critical and commercial success starting from the early 1970s until breaking up in 1981.[2] Initially the band had a core lineup, but in 1974, Becker and Fagen retired the band from live performances altogether to become a studio-only band, opting to record with a revolving cast of session musicians. Rolling Stone has called them "the perfect musical antiheroes for the Seventies".[4]
Good memories!!......heat wave summer 1977 at Montréal,Canada ....I was 18 bike ride whit my small radio transistor..listen Steely Dan.....DO IT AGAIN (1973).
Woo Hoo! Loved your smile the minute the music started. FM is another excellent listen and, of course, Aja. Really anything by Steely Dan is an excellent choice.
Glad to see yet another reactor initiated into the Steely Dan love! Glad you're going for Kid Charlemagne next - this album Aja and the album that song is on, The Royal Scam, are tied for my two favorite albums by them. But every single one of their albums is terrific and I hope you check them all out.
One of my most favorite albums. AJA-- Got to see them live, before Walter Becker passed on. It was summer, lakefront venue in Chicago and oh, my....it was heavenly!!!! Summer in the Chi is magical....and Steely doing their thing with the breeze blowing. Damn! Just Damn!

Fusion at its best and Steely Dan did not really play favorites towards any one genre/style as they incorporated many elements and fused them to create much happy music, much happy. Chillin to "the Dan" is the safest of all medicines.
Steely Dan--brilliant music, lyrics & top notch musicians. Aja is known as their greatest album (one of the greatest of all time (IMO), but all their albums are great.
