  • Good router bits are super expensive! Or are they? Here's an unboxing and review of a cheaper Chinese roundover bit.

Any bit as long as it is sharp will cut good. The main difference is the quality of the steel. The better the steel the longer it will last. If it has carbide cutting edges even better. Longevity is what the more expensive bits will get you. Just my 2 cents. I use cheap bits as well for rough work but like cutting dados but for edge profiles i tend to lean towards something i know will not dull halfway through the peice and leave something i have to clean up. What are your thoughts? Great video mate! I hope to see more of your videos in the future.

Pretty much my thoughts as well, although my local shop sells a brand I'd never heard of, for a very reasonable price and they cut and last as long as the Trend bits I was using.

@@TroodosPoolGuy It's always great to find those gems that are local. I used to get my cheap bits at lowes and home depot, but it seems the brands they carry have caught on to the price trend. I have looked at some of the specialty woodworking stores in my area but they seem to be on this trend as well. I have recently just bought more Whiteside bits because the price difference is not that much from a usual brand to the premium bits. I also just bought some solid carbide bits from woodpeckers. In theory they should last a lifetime as you would never run out of carbide to sharpen. I will have to get back to you if they are any good or not. I have not used one just yet. I got them for an introduction price so I figured it was worth the risk to try them out.
