Freud Router Bits are revered by woodworkers the world over. But there is no doubt that they are more expensive than other brands. Is the money spent worth the investment? Patrick Holcombe of The Router Bits playlist was the perfect guy to give them a run.

Freud name is from Frese Udinesi, frese in italian is cutter and udinesi is from Udine, a city in northern Italy where the company established.
In 2008 or 2009 was purchased by Bosch (some Bosch bits and blades are made by Freud S.p.A.).
They have in-house production of the carbide used for the tools teeths, it should one of the few that do that.
I was in the shop the other day. I have a list of bits to pick up....

Point well taken John. Let's see what we can do. The chart briefly enclosed in this video indicated that CMT were much further down the list than even we expected. Hence the reason we have decided to supply these amazing Freud router bits to our customers. CMT are certainly excellent router bits, but not the same quality as Freud.
@@timbeconaus if I can put images here, You can see comparison. Freud is simply better - stronger razor part in about 2/3 vs CMT. I prefer Freud, buying CMT only if no Freud is aviable
Ive never seen another Holcombe with an e on the end outside of my family lol. Im from Tennessee, USA. Just thought that was neat.
i had a inkling you would start stocking Freud when a birdy told me you were no longer stocking CMT.when hey were on clearance but same birdy couldn't tell me what brand they new range would be

Hi Jarrah! We won't be dropping our extensive Torquata range as our customers certainly appreciate having that range available. We are slowly phasing out stocks of CMT in preference for Freud - a better bit and better value. CMT are certainly high quality but Freud bits are that 'cut above' - pun definitely intended.
in the last 10 years or so since i got retired from work ive learnt to ....Always buy the best you can then you only cry once ,,,
i like the Freud blade on my milwaukee 12inch cms nice clean cuts so far not tried Frued router bits as never knew who stocked them in Melbourne to now ;) but i have 10 CMT bits i really like but ill give these a try for sure ,
years ago i used to get cheap router bits but its a false economy .
and just out of curiosity has anyone else seen on the shaft of a Diablo Router bit it says Freud .. but like some other tool makers there is one or two series? as in pro and DIY , is that the case with Diable bits . as Freud is made in italy like Diablo and CMT
I'm quite disappointed. The cut wasn't made to it's full potential but was a shallow cut. Couldn't even see the curve on the timber. Not worthy of a good demonstration and can't make a firm conclusion based on a shallow cut.
