    I knew this wouldn’t be a high performing video but it might be the most important one we’ve ever posted. This is how you get better. A lot of the workouts have been posted online on Andrew’s channel, @fit4tennis. Go check it out and support him. And if you don’t believe me, I just played two matches in the same day and I am chilling heheh thank you guys! We keep battling

    In one of your older videos, you said that in tennis, you "win with your legs." I've never forgotten that, and tell myself this in every match.

  • @millionairejh
    @millionairejh 9 місяців тому +24

    Love the video. Ive been saying this for years, Tennis (and all racquet sports really) is a legs game. Its very hard for amateurs players to see why someone is good when based off of the legs and effortlessness getting in position. Most people look at big shots as the hallmark of a great player. Great legs is quiet like you mentioned in the video. Im a relatively small guy but have always had great footwork. As a result, so many people told me i wasnt good, that i just got to every ball and was consistent. Its really annoying when your footwork is soo good it overshadows or delegitimizes the rest of your game. But then again the people who said that to me dont play tennis anymore, so it really is a ego thing.

    • @KaruesellHQ
      @KaruesellHQ  9 місяців тому +16

      Man, that is the case for every good mover, they are considered the pusher. That is total bullshit haha a person hits two decent winners a set and think they are great players and shouldn’t lose to a guy who does what tennis is at is core: move well and get balls back. It’s the entire point of the sport hahah don’t listen to the haters, keep taking their lunch money (and show them this video)

    i really do like what andrew has to say in this video. i'll use myself as a cautionary tale: i spent so much time getting myself into incredible shape that DIDN'T translate into tennis before. it was insanely frustrating to work so incredibly hard but then not be able to have it translate into the court. tennis is such a specific beast and while being in better shape is never a negative, the time i spent doing things like crossfit could have been better spent doing something more structured for tennis. but alas, that was 2011, i didn't have enough money for personal training or to join a full-time academy, and there wasn't quite the programming that we see nowadays out there online.

    While I play at a much, much lower level, and while my workouts are not necessarily tennis-specific, I can relate to this.
    I've always been pretty athletic (played soccer, tennis, volleyball, badminton; skied a lot), I had never worked out in a gym until about a year ago. In November 2023, I started working out 3 days a week, partly because I felt I was getting tired faster when playing sports (I'm 34 now; not old, but not getting younger either). Gained about 12 lbs of weight, 7 or 8 lbs of muscle mass (I'm 6'0", 166 lbs now). Around the same time, I also started taking private tennis lessons from a very good coach (former men's college team head coach). Of my last 20 matches, I won 17, and almost got bumped from 3.5 to 4.0. Part of it has been tennis related, but a huge part is physical. I step on the court knowing that I can chase every ball and can outrun and outlast pretty much any opponent I may play in the local league.
    I still have a long way to go (improvement is a continuous process, there is no end point), but still, I wholeheartedly agree with you. If one wants to get better on the tennis court, getting stronger is massively important.

      If you can’t be on court for as long as you would like, yes fitness would have the greatest (silent) impact on your game.
