I wanted to find as recent review of the game as possible but I didn't expect to find one from yesterday! Good review, I think I'll buy the game thanks to this video and also since it's on a sale on Steam.
Also, just a small suggestion. I really appreciate time stamps and I know most people do. Maybe you could consider adding them in future videos to improve the watching experience. If not, it's ok as well.
@@repeahlfors9951 Hey buddy, yeah i did mean to do that, but it was very late when i pushed that video out. I'll go add the timestamps today, thanks for the reminder.
This is a great video! As an Icarusplayer with over 2k hrs, your points are very accurate. I really love and enjoy the game. There are so many ways to go back and make things more challenging. It's just a fantastic game. I've loved it since day one. One point you made that needs correction...it is absolutely possible to unlock everything in the tech tree.
Really enjoyed the video 🙂 You've convinced me to finally pick it up! Incredible timing too, the game and it's bundles have just gone on a steep discount and there's a play for free weekend on at the moment lasting three days.
I find this game very interesting than other survival games Its concept is cool that you can spawn into an open world and rather than just focusing on survival you can carry out different missions which adds gameplay to it, games like Sons Of the Forest and The Forest etc they are good survival games, but sometimes surviving gets kinda boring on its own it needs a purpose
Nice video, I can absolutely agree on that this is a pearl of a game. If you buy in a sale as it just was on steam, it's not pricy anymore. For me one of my 3 most favorite survival games (Ark, Empyrion Galactic Survival and Icarus.... long followed by nothing and then there are nice games like No Man's sky, Enshrouded and so on)
3 food buffs as standard. There is a talent for an extra food slot, plus there are attachments (Attachment Bench) for your armour to give more food buffs.
You can actually get everything in the tech tree - it just takes time. I've seen players with over 2000 blueprint points. You get blueprint points every time you level up. The talents stop when you reach level 60 but you still level up after that (it just says level 60 all the time) and gain blueprint points. These are needed as there are new items added to the game. The latest are milk bottles and a milk pail.
@@mrphoenix5951 Go watch GoW play Icarus. He has over 2000 blueprint points and has pretty much everything ticked off. There are multiple level 60 players getting blueprint points by levelling up. It was designed this way a long time ago. There is no need for the svenprogression mode unless you want the level counter to keep climbing (if that is what it does). Blueprint points are still awarded after level 60. You can now get 3 extra talent points by completing the final Null Sector mission. This is one time only, so you can't keep repeating it for even more talent points.
@@mattymojo not a problem at all and it make some sense to force people to go back up and change spec but tbh i hate that system same for the mission system open world is where the bread is at so n ot being able to have all bluprint is a pain however all the perks as a solo are relly op
I have been playing since the start and the only complaint I have is the animal AI towards other animals. They seem to live in complete harmony until you aggro, but you will never see a wolf eating a deer unless you’re the one that killed it. The animal combat feels fine when it’s you vs them, but you don’t really come across a bear den or see a family of birds in a nest.
check out Prometheus/volcanic area I see them fighting each other a lot, seems the heat makes them agro beyond reason, I have often sat back and watched then moved in to claim the last one as a kill and reaped the reward from all of them...nice? no but hey its survival so I will always take any advantage I can get. Some of the fights are really spectacular as well.
Difficult beasts? Stompy in the Null Sector? Elysium (the next map) may be even more hardcore. Make your ideas heard in the suggestions discord - you know it works (open world for example).
Great video! You really covered a lot of what I was curious to know about as I am a huge fan of their other game, Stationeers, but was dubious about this game. Now that the great steam sale is upon us, I am probably going to pick it up and give it a try. One question I'd like to ask for clarification from you if you'd be so inclined, or anyone who might already play the game and see this, is that I've heard that animal pathfinding can be pretty bad, especially in regards to the pets? I've poked around and got some mixed information in that regard. One critique I'd like to mention about your video in general, is that I feel like your voice volume is a bit too quiet, as I had to bump up my volume by about 25% to hear clearly what you are saying, and I am even using a headset so the sound is pretty isolated on my end. It's kind of on the border of being just a hair too quiet but not quite if that makes sense?
Yo Lordlurk, firstly noted re the mic issue, I've been having all sorts of issues there, appreciate you noting it though and telling me that feedback helps. Okay, the pet pathfinding: I had no real issues with it, I'd say 95% of the time with your pets people will do what I do, claim them, then lead them back to base, they then tame up...after that most people will just have them set to "not wander" so they hang around your base and feeding troughs and feed and drink when required. Sometimes they get in each others way, if you have a lot of pets in a small area but just spread out your troughs - honestly no issues really, the pathfinding is fine. Hope this helps.
I have had it since launch and i believe they have done a great job changing the game. I was turned off before open world. To be honest mounts/pets and open world brought me back. Theee is a lot i hope for this game still. I would love more settings and private server options. Me and a large group of friends use a dedicated machine. It has some issues with multiplayer, mostly the storms and base destruction while offline. When me and our friends play different times this is a major issue. I think more game settings would give more than a few years of longevity. I hope they add it.
The game looks fantastic now. I just have 2 issues... 1-the white outline of interactables takes me out of it a bit 2- How come you need an oxygen supply in a planet with regular chlorophyl vegetation that can also support fireplaces, bonfires, torches and the like when fire consumes a lot of oxygen by itself? (Or maybe the oxygen is just for the 2 later maps?)
The air is poisonous. The vegetation and animals are genetically modified to live on that moon. But yeah, there is a lot of stuff that doesn't make any sense^^ Then again the game needs to game. Still, this is indeed a big problem with the game. Most of the lore you only hear once in passing or is only found externaly. You do stuff for various companies. In 3 years I couldn't be bothered what the difference between them is. etc. But to their credit, with the newest map, they actually started to propperly tie a comprehensive story into the game.
If you do the missions in the mission option / game mode yes they do, but now in the open world option you get missions as well and the world is persistent. Thats the mode I play 90% of the time now.
Do the missions get better and more achievable in the dlcs? I play solo and often find what I am asked to do in the missions would take many many hours just to tier up and build a watchtower and things like that
Prometheus missions are far more challenging then Olympus or even Styx. If it's this what you asked for. For some quality of life stuff I suggest using mods. There is a small but lovely mod community and there is even a mod manager tool they built, where you can assemble all the mods you would like to use together as one mod, that is then automatically added to your mod folder. As easy as clicking your own pizza when buying online 😅
Should have bought it when it was on sale last week. i tried it a few years back but some glitches made it unplayable for me. would love to jump back into it now that its been fixed up.
