So, the best description of the song that I've heard is that its structure mirrors the cycle of needing a fix, getting high, and then crashing back down.

This song is about addiction. As a recovering addict and alcoholic with almost 22 months clean and sober, I definitely relate to it because I spent 31 years in the grips of my addiction. Thanks for keeping it metal and being a great reactor. There's your light bulb moment. They were harmonizing on their guitars.

The bridge is genius. The euphoria of the high, turns dark and sinister, then to anger, with the addict realizing he's been deceived too late.
I always took the "Fix me!" as both a cry for help and a plea for another fix... the true hell of drug addiction.

Indeed, what's the medical term for it?...Down-regulation? Once your body becomes used to the chemicals coursing through it, it will set that as your homeostatic baseline, so your body will demand the drugs even when your mind knows that you are slowly killing yourself...it F'ing sucks, you feel forever at war with yourself...

Excellent work! You did not disappoint! That bridge melody is actually both guitar players playing one note at a time in harmony, over the rhythm guitar backing track. I'm sure someone else will point it out, but the music itself is in four movements. The jones, the fix (melodic bit), and the comedown back into the jones. To your point, the line "Fix me!" is a double entendre, meaning both elements, I need a fix and I need to be fixed.
Some other early work you must check out (which will also boost your signal) are the instrumental "Orion" from the Master of Puppets album, "Fade to Black" from the Ride The Lightning album, "Creeping Death" from the same album (a biblical song about the angel of death/Passover) "One" from And Justice For All , (as well as the title track) and Blackened from that same album.

The music tells the story just as much as the lyrics. The hard, aggressive beginning is the need for the next hit, the slower instrumental is the euphoria of drugs kicking in, and then the inevitable crash and aggressive need for that next hit. The laughter is the paranoia kicking in which further feeds the addiction in attempt to silence the perceived laughter.

With metallica the instruments are as much story tellers as the lead singer.. After the 2nd verse when james"s voice fades out crying fot "master" the beautiful slow solo is meant for the listeners to experience the high with the addict and the 2nd solo more intense to experience the rage of the addict demanding to be fixed

When he says fix me, it is referring to being fixed with a shot of heroin. Watch almost any old MetallicA video when James says fix me he does the jester with his hand of shooting heroin into his arm. The very second when he says those words there is a guitar solo, the solo is the immediate rush the second the heroin hits your bloodstream.

The song takes a turn because when an addict is high he experiences euphoria. Before that is the agony of trying to get it or fight a losing battle with yourself to not get more. The third part is coming down and being angry at yourself and the drug because it's all about to start again

7:42 That's called a harmony. Two instruments playing corresponding melodies with different notes but in the same scale. It's what sets Metallica apart from most other thrash metal bands in the 80s, and it was a concept introduced by Cliff Burton.

"Creeping Death" - Metallica Live in Moscow 91' - This song is about the life of Moses. The Creeping Death is the plague inflicted on the Egyptians, also known as the Angel of Death. He was sent by God to kill every firstborn child. Moses told the Jews to save their firstborn sons by putting lamb's blood on their doors. So epic.

I think there are 2 main audiences to Stranger Things: those who grew up in the 80s, and those who are the approximate ages of the grade-school characters. So I completely get why it might not grab you like it does many others.
But that's okay. No entertainment is universally beloved; nor should it strive to be. That would be boring.

I got heavy into Metallica in the early 2000s when I discovered them as a young teen. I always put Justice at the top of that early catalogue because of the production value. It's not perfect, but it sounds best matched with James' fully matured vocals. It's peak Metallica.
But seeing that your channel name references vinyl, I hand to add a x2 to what I've already said. Metallica paired with Walmart recently and rereleased their entire discography in remastered vinyl. I bought a few of them and they're real good.
Justice sounds the best in my opinion. Those Walmart exclusives are a great way to get your hands on some great Metallica pressings easily.
But now you should listen to Reign in Blood. I think it's the best sounding metal record of all time. On vinyl, it's really an experience. Rick Rubin absolutely nailed it.

Great reactions! You need to hear more live Metallica - and don't fall for the "vintage is better" claim - the production value of their live videos from the last at last 10 years that they post regularly on their official channel is quite amazing - the moscow concert might have been their biggest audience but it doesn't mean the recording is best to listen to. Probably just go with the newest live videos that have most views on them - that's a good rule of thumb. You'll love Fade to black. Also, when you're ready to hear some utter (teenager rage-type) chaos, but aristically expressed - enjoy the Dyer's eve, but in that case I recommend going with perfectly remixed and remastered version by Ahdy Khairat, since the original mix on the album was, let's say, controversial, and with such a song a good mix is a must: ua-cam.com/video/68I0jI9dbqw/v-deo.html
