We have caught a number of Mackinaw or Lake Trout while fishing for Kokanee. Had an old guy that fishes the lake all summer tell me to run a gang troll off the downrigger weight. I'm using a pancake shaped weight. Then a stacker three feet above that. Let out a dodger and lure a short distance maybe 15 feet out. Want it to be close in because the gang troll attracts the fish. We didn't hook any Kokanee but hooked three Lake Trout doing that all over 20". We were told the fish we released were likely all around 20 years old. Had no idea they were that old.

What thickness of fluorocarbon do you use for lake trout?

anywhere from 12# to 30# line for this fishery!

How far back do you run your lead lines and do you have leaders at the end of them or Direct Connect to Hotshot clip and will this work on Kokanee

This will work for kokanee...however...lead lines are fished way behind the boat. 200-600' behind the boat...so only usable when there are no other boats around! From the lead core line, we attached 20' of leader. Line weight depends on your targeted species!
