Thanks for the tour.I was surprised how well maintained the ship looked. Everything was so nicely painted and I saw no signs of rust or even dirt. You can tewll that someone took very good care of this ship.
I wish more youtubers had Joe's skills. He knows when to go fast and when to go slow.
Working at a water treatment plant so close to a Port, I've always wondered what it was like on a ship. Your videos are Awesome!
I found this video very interesting. A chance to see something I’m never going to see in real time. Thank you again for taking the time to make it and sharing it
Great shoot...greetings from 🇨🇱
Shipping is an interesting area! I have worked as shipping agent at Paranagua port/Brazil at Cargill visiting all kinds of vessels and each vessel has her own history! Thank you Joe.
NICE boat! Much nicer than your cargo ship you ‘toured’! Gym on this one is first class! Kudos!
Thanks for the tour video! I really enjoyed it!
Great stuff Joe 👏 👍 thanks
Nice looking ship. All looked very clean and new as well
Yup. I enjoyed the tour.Thank you.
I was on the Ogden Willamette during the late 1970s. Quite a different experience. 660 feet long, 90 foot draft, 90 foot beam and rode like a 2x4 in bad weather.
How to relax watch Joe.
Excellent vlogs if i had my time again and thankyou ⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓👍👍🇬🇧
nicely organized storage. that whole damn ship is really nice.
Good vessel. I think a lot of seafarers just envy to you, because they can only dream about such a conditions as on this vessel..You and your colleagues are lucky guys. What's name of your company, if it's not a secret?
That looks like it would be a great company to work for. As a maintenance man at a Pittsburgh area warehouse, my wife and I have set a date to make our move to our other house in Hawaii. That may just be a career option for me.🤙
Interesting always wonder about tankers
What happens in the Suez room?
Yay for bojack in the gym!
22 years in tankers. She looks clean and squared away. Where is the Engine Room? Good luck to you.
Hey joe you should do a good storm video! Purely storms youve experienced
Enjoy watching keep going💪
This is a beautifully clean ship, especially compared to some of the rough steel monstrosities I've seen in container ships
I miss the tour of the engine room, could you do that?
love your vid's Joe, can you sometimes give us viewer some history of the ships you are on?
Are there any pumps on the manifold to offload product or do they always have to suck it out from shore?
my left ear enjoyed this
Love the video, good work! What kind of equipment are you recording with? EX approved?
I've been trying to figure out who you remind me of, at first I thought maybe it was someone I knew or worked with but I realized it's Mike Rowe the "Jobs" guy and your stuff would be perfect for his programing, your walkabouts and overtime clips throw in a drone shot and I think they would love it. Just an idea, I just realized your talking to yourself when you make these, if you wonder your voice is very smooth with just a touch of Turnpike.
sweet video! :)
This is fascinating.
So many manifolds...was this also a chemical tanker at one time? . I would like to see the offloading procedure from gangway on to start pumping. Tanks for the memories.
Maybe capable of but its a typical product tanker manifold. A real chemical tanker manifold looks a lot different.
Those monitors on the catwalk are cool. We didn’t have those on the ATB barge I worked. Did you ship as AB or Tankerman?
Really enjoy your videos. One question, what is a Suez room?
Just found your channel and am enjoying it. Weird thing tho about some of the videos. When you're in the cabin doing the intro, there's no audio. Once you leave the cabin and do other scenes, it's fine but then back in the cabin it's silent again. Closed captioning worked though.
there was missing on this video. the engine room :))
Thanks for sharing
Awesome ship....nice vlog..bro....expecting more videos ....
Nice tanker stache!
pretty cool to say I'm of the first 15k subs lol.ur gonna blow up
Great tour of the tanker ,shame there is no view of the engine. But good vid . thanks for posting.
You dont mind me asking ,your position on vessel?
What's the difference between a sea-line and a shore-line while you're tied at port. You could have been a little more of a host during your video. Honestly, your tour was like an Evelyn Wood speed reading course. Thanks Joe but I could have learned as much---maybe more---from a picture
Does the tanker pumps the oil to the oil refinery, or the oil refinery pumps the oil from the tanker?, how long does this process take? good video.
it all depends, a lot of ships work for charters, so buying from one refinery and bringing to another.
When loading the cargo is pumped from shore to ship, while discharging is the other way around.
Seeing the engine room would have been neat but not to worry, next time maybe 👍
Hey Joe I like the videos I’m currently an otr truck driver in the US I’m interested in this type of work what would I need to do
can you smoke at all anywhere on the boat? also can alcohol be consumed on the boat ever?
9:08 / 10:04: in an emergency, in which you have to use the lifeboat to escape the ship, at what stage do you determine that it is time to depart the ship, when they may not be a Full compliment of the crew that have managed to make it to the lifeboat? If someone is left behind, what are their options to escape?
Where is the engine room?
I have a question: what is the difference between crew and officers? And is there internet on the ship during the trip?
Miss seeing the engine room.
Sorry if you’ve explained this somewhere else but what’s the deal with all the ships using that same orange-red paint?? Did they get a discount on it? ;)
On the stern of the ship about the 3:10 mark the holes where the dock lines go through the hull were painted red, white or blue. What is the meaning? I didn't notice any others painted a different color.
What about the pump room?was it just forward of the engine room or part of the e/r?
That camera that your bringing out on deck is intrinsically safe right?
Awesome vid joe!
Would you be able to share with us what kind of $$$ you are earning as an able bodied seaman onboard
a tanker?
We are curious. Tx
Pay varies from ship to ship, lots of different factors. To answer your question on this particular ship I believe I was bringing home around 6k a month after taxes.
@@JoeFranta Thanks dude! Bart rogers told me ABs were making 8-10 out to sea im wondering where that kind of money is?
gr8 stache bro! puLL'n itOff #4sho
Very cool 😎
Rabbit no 1
Why do the ship have a specific room for the Suez Canal?
I think it's for instances when an assistance crew board the ship to help navigate through the Suez. I've seen the room shown on a few other videos like this, but it never used
May I ask a stupid question? Is there a place on board to safely have a cigarette? lol
if it were filmed at greek ship, greek officer will be shouting on you with your camera brought outside the deck. :D that's on from my experience
That’s basic safety, all electrical equipment used outside on a tanker like this must be EX certified
Do you know why Greeks are sad when they leave the navy? They hate to leave their friends behind 😂
I need to make my way out of the Gulf dealing with tug boats and experience the bigger 🌎
How long it take you to board your first ship after school?
@@JoeFranta wow very lucky, I hope I board my first that fast after school
Hey Joe. I’ve got a job interview at a tanker company in two weeks. Do I need to grow a moustache?
Please tell me, how much does ETO earn as US citizen on monthly basis?
Hey mate, just discovered you and am loving your vids, always interested in the ocean life, one comment I can make is with some of your vids the background music is a little loud I feel, overrides the commentary, this one seemed better than some of the previous ones though, the repetition can be quite annoying. Hope I don’t offend ❤️✌️
Is there a Dr. or medic on board?
Jotun paint from Sandefjord in NORWAY
What about a hospital/medic?
Don't be hung up on the size of your tanker...size isn't everything...so I hear. Look, I'm just going to say this...I am 63 years old, in November, I'm going to be a Beatles song...that is to say I grew up in the '70's. And in the '70's, they had a lot of full length porn movies. I am trying, REALLY hard, not to equate the Tanker Stach with a porn stash from the '70's.
Forgive me.
I can't not see this.
But Dude, you're living my dream. Cheers to you. If I had only had my head out of my backside back then, I might have lived a better life.
I hate you. No...I love ya, man! Keep these video's coming, it feeds my addiction.
Signed, a Catalina Sailboat owner...see? Size isn't everything...
Do you ever come to Oakland? Are you allowed off of ships yet, or is Covid still an issue?
I've never been to Oakland, SF was the closet. but yea this year they are starting to let us back off
@@JoeFranta That will make your job less confining if shore leave comes back.
@@JoeFranta San Francisco is where I live, but there’s not too much going on in the Port except for cruise ships, some military supply ships and Tesla used to ship cars around the world from San Francisco. They still do, but only the high end models as Shanghai, Berlin and Austin are coming on line.
You said that ship is all about coffee. If you can't be about sleep you better be about coffee.
"Dick around a little bit".... lmfao. The Galley.... "These guys make one hell of a tuna fish sandwich".... AKA they can't cook for shit? I love it. No politically correctness here. Looking forward to your other videos.
How bout the engine room?
I've been meaning to make an egine room tour video. As a deckhand it's hard/awkward to dick around in the Engine room.
You skipped the Engine Room?
How many your expiriyance time bro
Gift shop?
Correct me if I am wrong, but that must be a Korean built vessel. I am on a Korean Car Carrier and almost all the floors, layers in accommodation, whole cabin and the bridge are pretty much the same.
its called a handymax size tanker
Do you have pumpman on this vessel ?
Yes, every tanker I've been on has had a pumpman. Theirs roles on the ship differ slightly ship to ship.
Looking down on the ship, it looks like lego....lol
What is a suez room?
Suez room is where the line boat gang would say if we went through the suez canal. Check out my Suez Canal video!
where in Jersey are you from?
@@JoeFranta well anywhere outside of Trenton is a good place lol
i enjoy your u tube channel thanks for the entertainment /
What is your pay
Ship look great why do others look like shit. They can’t afford paint or maintenance is not in crews contract ?
This ship was in amazing shape, barely any rust. Some companies, ships whatever just dont want to pay for the maintenance
That makes no sense because the longevity of the ship is severely decreased if you don’t maintain it
YA
Hey great videos! Curious as to why the hawser lines are colour coded on the stern…I think they were red, white and blue. 🦞🇨🇦🦞
Wait I’m confused is it just you or is it actually a thing to grow a mustache when you’re on a tanker because I can get behind that trend
Enjoyed your videos, but the word GD , you can leave off , God don’t damn , He saves Souls from a second death .
Blown away by the quality of the accommodations, the gym?!? and how well preserved the ship is.
I am guessing NOT Far Eastern built?
very nice video dude. keep it up
@@ike1660 Chinese built ships I had in mind. Much smaller and worse rooms in the accommodation etc
@@connan7 I don't know specificly about ships but I imagine it works like everything else produced in China; you need to make the plans yourself and have rigorous quality control, if you've got that implemented well, you can get high quality products.
But there's a lot of ways it can go wrong, I can tell from my own experience. I had a bunch of non-ferro casting done in China, and you noticed imediatly if they thought they could fuck you over with a cheaper subcontractor. Product was great and uniform one shipment and all over the place in the next. Luckily we had a guy over there that would do QC, so we caught most of it before it got shipped over.
But even then, the prices were so low, they could have fucked up every other shipment and we would've still come out on top.
She’s a Jones act vessel so has to have been built in the USA for future refrence
biggest no smoking sign ive ever seen
It's an accommodation not a house
Two years later but I said thank you sir from disabled country boy. God bless
