I did twenty-nine years in the US Merchant Marine and have been to well over forty countries around the world, but I really enjoyed my last year sailing which was on a chemical tanker running up and down in the Gulf and East Coasts. This video brought back some good memories. Thanks Joe, Ram

I absolutely love this channel. Not sure if it’s his narration voice or the content. They are about the most relaxing videos, with an education, on UA-cam.
I used to fish on a commercial vessel with my grandpa when I was a kid and these videos really make me nostalgic for the sea and those good times, loving the content man, hopefully adventure more to come! 👍
Damn it, I am addicted to your channel. I fly, I used to have a sail boat with dreams of world navigation, but now I'm 63 and you make me wish I was 21 again. Thank you for sharing these experiences! You're living my dream.

Supporting the troops in Vietnam.working as Junior engineer and deck engine mechanic .worked on ships going all over Latin America Africa. really enjoyed traveling around the world. Enjoying your videos. My cousin spent his whole civilian flying career flying helicopters in the loop. His base was Patterson , LA. I spent my whole career as a long haul cargo pilot. I have places stamped in my passport(s) that most people can't find on a globe. As your Mariner career progresses it will be the same for you. I enjoyed international travel.
Joe: For an Ordinary Seaman you were/are a helluva videographer and story-teller. This narrative you've put together is better than a lot of "professionally" produced material. Not least, because it's real. Keep up the great work, and, smooth-sailing!
I have only been offshore day fishing. I live in north Mississippi and only have lakes around me. I love watching these videos and it’s awesome to see the knowledge you have learned. From the first video and nothing nothing to videos such as this one shows your continuous improvement not only in your job but in yourself. Keep that up man it’s working. Don’t be average.
Thank you, Joe, for an excellent series of videos...Retired Navy airdale, never gave much thought to the Merchant Marine...Now I have respect for Merchant Mariners...
I wish I'd have thought of doing this as a career years ago. Almost 59 now and in a dead-end school bus driving job making peanuts for pay. I just thought for many years that this was a dying industry and there'd be no demand for civilian mariners. Glad to see guys like Joe having this wonderful opportunity.
Great videos Joe! As a Navy Submarine vet I can agree...there is nothing like being out on the ocean. Absolutely nothing compares. Keep them coming! And good luck to you!
As an old retired sea salt, I really enjoy your videos! I sailed mostly steward's department, seen the world and loved it. Unfortunately N.M.U. went under and I was out of a job, I was devastated, if I had then known about SIU, I could've joined that union which is still going strong these days! It is when I see your beautiful and well made videos that I feel happy seeing everything I lived on those vessels. Keep up the good work. Stay safe!
Nice to read you’re a die hard seaman! You enjoyed your job at sea in times of peace, so embrace these memories: WWII was a horrible period for the Merchant Navy and its people in general, with the continuous threat of the presence of U-boats... for instance. When sailing in convoy, being struck often meant the end for the crew: not a single ship in the convoy was allowed to reduce speed or to stop, this was too dangerous for she could be the next target/victim... let alone the rest of the most of time unarmed ships. My opinion is that there’s not enough appreciation for the important task of the Merchant Navy in WWII, even nowadays people in general have the “out of sight, out of heart” attitude. A pity, cuz 90% of their stuff comes from overseas. That’s why channels like this one are really important! 👍🏻⚓️🙋🏼♀️
don't know if you're still on this boat(Overseas Anacortes), but she was in the port of Tampa at the marathon plant a few days ago. I was working in the shipyard next door as an outside machinist. Also extremely cool to see the inside operations of what just looked like any ol ship in the port and precisely what the ship does and where it goes. Love it
I’m a US Army soldier. We just got back from Europe. We transport all our equipment on big vehicle transport ships. Maybe one day we’ll see you at the port. Thanks bro. Good vids.
