The best car camping window cover explained!

- Most people use refletix to cover their windows when camping or living in their cars. This is my take on a better version of that. There are almost 1M views on the build video for this so I'm answering a few of the most asked questions here.
That was a great build! I'll reference the full build video again because I want to work on my own. Not for camping, but just for keeping the car cool.
This is a very fancy version of what I did with fiber board when I lived in my van was able to do the whole van for 12$
May the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius guide us through all of the headaches, tears, and suffering of camper conversion projects. 🙌
I'm sure he'd have a car camper if he were here today.

These are very well designed and functional. Way to go.
have you done a update with the bigger adjustable fan? is it quite? have you noticed any significant heat exchange on that black plastic? and have you thought of insulating them? how many do you run, just one window & sunroof? your videos are solid & concise!
I’m trying to figure out the right combo now. The ABS is holding up but I’m 3D printing some parts on the new ones and they’re warping in this summers extreme heat. Hoping to have answers in the next few weeks.
@@MattTheDesigner have you tried corrugated plastics?
But they're BLACK, How does BLACK keep your car cool in the sun?
The windows stay mostly rolled up and at tinted (black) anyways.
Man. Thank you so much. You’re a genius!
This is great. Is there going to be a winter version?❄️
Also, in the summer does the abs plastic act similar to reflectix? What's the insulation like? 🙃
For winter my best idea so far is an electric blanket. I think I’d struggle to make that an interesting video.
The ABS isn’t much of an insulator. That’s the trade off for something thin and rigid like that. I’m considering glueing one of those space blankets to it…
@MattTheDesigner thanks Matt. How about just sticking the reflectix to the abs sheet? I also ain't a fan of condensation and hate the normal soggy cardboard cutout solutions.
Genius.
Finally an answer, watching from Philippines
Marcus Aurelius. Love it!
Nice but how does the window tint or window overall hold up against these covers.
So far no issues.
What if I'm in India wich is a hot country
You will need a much bigger fan. Check out the latest long form video I posted.
car camping = car living
I want to make a set of these, but I might be trading in my car and it’d break my heart to redo them! What to do??? 😅
They’re a fantastic design, Matt.
Check out the newer version before you do! Also cutting a new cover won’t be too hard and you could repurpose the rest of the parts.
@@MattTheDesigner thanks, Matt! Will do.
230 bucks for the weather tech covers. While itd be nice to build myself, it was nicer not to lol. Great vid
Ha! They probably make great window covers. Not sure that would make a great video though.
@@MattTheDesigner I don't know how I'm going to sleep in here with ventilation and have them up. I can Crack the sun roof but that's not quite enough
Very nice
👍
Oh man! I need these!
I’m subscribed. I need these ::
Etsy? eBay? Take me money, please :
Fit for my vehicle ?
Happy to take your money but have now time to manufacture these. I'll be putting out and easier to make version soon.
I've been looking for something like this for ages
I liked both builds. I found the plastic component rather expensive, though if I needed to be stealth, highly worth it. I purchased 4 mini fans and recently two power packs. How many mAh do you recommend. The ones I purchased will most likely be too heavy for the sunroof build. I’m also going to try using placemats with skewers as a first run. I believe Mike used Cloroplast, which I don’t really care to use. I like the thin profile of the plastic that you’ve used.
The pack I’ve been using is 20000mah but wouldn’t need to be that big. 10k would last through a night easily.
Amazing
Great idea 😊😊
How are they holding up vs the Sun?
They’re doing well so far but I’ll keep updating over time.
how much does this help in the summer in 90 degree heat
It won’t save you during the day. I’m working on a second addition now but even then these mostly help at night below 80 degrees.
very clever, patent that shit, and take it too the sharks
🦈
Genius
Can we buy this on Amazon.?
Parts of it. Check out the full build video.
Omg ❤❤❤❤❤❤
where can I get this?
🙌🏼
Can we get it somewhere ?
You’ll have to make it for now.
Is that legal
The pop out when we drive.
Love the book ;-)
This OLD thang??
Where do I get these lol

When did you lose your leg

@@MattTheDesigner that was a pivotal war, at least you know you took a stand against the British. What’s your secret to living such a long life? Half the legs twice the years?
