Man About the House was the inspiration for the American TV comedy Three's Company, originally starring John Ritter, Suzanne Sommers, and Joyce DeWitt. It lasted for seven seasons and even showed an episode called "Man About the House."
Haven't read all the comments just came across this video on 30th December 2023. I seem to recall Sally was 20 or so in Railway Children plying a teen. Lovely looking woman.
It’s a curse to have someone you truly live and they move on. I’d do anything to be with the person who was in my life in the 80s, but it will never be. I will carry my love and intense sadness at not being with them to my grave. I ended up like Sally and bombed from one person to another, looking for something I was never going to find.
I had a crush on a girl in 1970s that looked very much like Sally Thomsett, she worked part time in a chemist ,went in there few times but couldn't summon enough courage to ask her out.
Thank you for this overview of her life and career. I learned a lot. And while I knew the American TV series “Three’s Company” was based on a British TV series, I did not know that Sally played the part that Suzanne Summers played in the American version. Suzanne owes her fame to Sally being the character first! I wonder if they ever met?
I loved watching "Man about the house " being similar age as the actors ,I thought they great ,a lot of sitcoms back then we're really good , it seems people cannot age as they should ,without some nasty comments, not everyone wants BOTOX an fakery ,an if your young you never know how nature will make you look ,they great memories so thanks 😊❤💗💜🇬🇧

Man about the House was one of the mist successful sitcoms of all time, it was very well written and the casting was spot on, as it was easy to warm to the characters, even grumpy old Mr. Roper. I believe the American remake was equally as popular. The reason 16yo Gary Warren, 18yo Jenny Agutter (Ag-u-ter) and 20yo Sally were cast as the railway children was to get around child labour laws and the restrictions that would put on filming schedules. School leaving age was 15 at the time so even Warren was a working age adult. I was totally obsessed with Sally Tomsett, I think she is one of those women everyan wanted and every woman wanted to be. She wasn't stunning beautiful but was nethertheless extremely attractive, she had sex appeal and innocent girl next door in equal measure, she looked great as a blonde and with dark hair.
She must have been the British “Chrissy,” the Suzanne Sommers role in the American version “Threes Company.” Very cute girl. I must say that anyone who has a total of 12 near-and-actual marriages is a genuine cockeyed optimist! Glad she made it through, had a child, and is still living a productive life.
