i guess driving trucks in australia is paradise, huge empty roads, perfect weather. In europe there are motorways of 4 lanes, fully jammed with cars and other trucks, overtaking each other all the time.
I drove this other day around melbourne local with just Semi B trailer only..... at tge turn it just slowed down almost to stop and the digital speedo meter started to show D/N/D/N/D/N/D..... never picked up again out of the fleet..... Volvo FH16 at any time.....
Iveco has the auto gear shift , ( Like Benz ) except it changes 2 gears on down hill runs also , yes Iveco does go down 2 gears up steep hills too : Cunninham's Gap both ways !
the new actros range is way better than the first generation. the cab is super and the engines are smooth. the V6 and the V8 engines are replaced by 6 cilinder in line engines. so now scania is the only euro brand with a V8 engine. that is the only downside. but for the rest is the new actros a very nice truck.
fewer cylinders means lower cost and better fuel economy, it means that the boss will pay the employees a bigger salary. so i would choose fewer cylinders with bigger pay.
If the boss goes in debt because of excessive fuel consumption from v8 and bigger repair costs, he'll only pay half the salary for the driver, at the end of month. Not nice
Stian Myrdal Laursen v8 sounds good , they put less pressure on all cylinders increasing life time and also could be pushed lot more harder to make lot more horsepower!
Actrually i dun understand why us approved trailer with only 2 axles plus 3 axles tractor. It tend to have jackknife if emergency braking the truck downing hill on the curve slope road.
Makoto Shishio The US is so superior to the EU that they can not even manufacture pistols and rifles for their army! It's not just pistols and rifles that the EU sells to the US ... How many hundreds of thousands of MAN / SCANIA trucks did sell to the ianks??
Simple, cost cutting, saves Daimler heaps of money by using only a few engines spread over their whole family of brands. These Mercedes/Detroit engines have also found their way into the new big Fuso's.
@@yusufelsayed7898 Because you can't transplant a Scania V8 into a lot of other trucks. If you could, that's all anyone would be running in their rigs.
I am from Europe i have transport company all Actros it very nice and fuel economic truck but i will say for Europe roads and inter roads beetwen big Aussie cities for outback will not work it has lot of eletric things so it will be nightmare to drive these eletronic troought sand and dust of outback. Leave outback to Kenworth Western Star and Mack trucks.
I drive a actros every day it’s not comfortable and it couldn’t pull you out of bed the beds are crap they could learn a lot off Daf the most comfortable truck I’ve driven and the beds are second to none
I drive a actros fantastic to live in that’s where the good news ends gearbox is crap you slow down to a roundabout go to set off it’s in the wrong gear so you have to stop utterly shite and they are gutless engines struggles at 44 ton for a 480hp it’s crap would advise go for a Volvo double clutch 540hp best combination
Long distance hauling. Bigger fuel tanks, radiator, and cab space is important for long distance hauling in Australia's extreme terrain conditions. That's why Kenworth, Western Star, freightliner, and Mack are preferred in Australia.

hahahaha well come to hell mate
how bow dat we have heaps of people in the cities or vast areas with shit roads and lots of animals with a death wish. Lol
Australia has that stuff to, Melbourne is like that all the time.
Melbourne turned into California.
The 'strange' gear choice is most likely a fuel economy decision.

Great review, the black Arocs 3363 pull 3 bulk trailers. So around 120T max I think?

xdygmnyrdf nope , Bose will take the extra money he won't pay the saved money to employ ;-)
lanzonova and I still love v8 engine , they sound real good! , I think scania should continue with v8 trucks!!!!

I do not understand why small trailer in the front and a large one in the back, it not be approved here in USA for safety reasons.

From what I understand the Mercedes engines in the EU range are based on Detroit Diesel (DD) engines from the US
adam Robinson
I'm sorry, but it is the other way round.
Klaus Loewer yes, EU truck engines are way more effective and technological compared to US trucks.

You are a comedian. Best joke ever.
Mercedes made the mistake of putting this DETROIT crap in their trucks in Europe, do not repeat the mistake ...

Auto bet it is run it out there for few years do a review again maybe
Why on earth would Merc fit a crappy US engine to their own trucks. Man what a rip

Cummins and Catapilllar engines are not crap. If that's the case then why are they preferred in Australian trucks?

Rather, Kenworth, Mack, Western Star
no doubt you are in love with chromed stacks
Maybe ok, but tiny sleeper cab, and boring look
Hit a bull or feral pig camel or whatever out there and see what happens to the front end.
Only scania can hold the shift on uphills.
