I live in the PNW, but in the desert half of the region. Unvented boots get waterlogged with sweat really quick on those 100 degree summer days. My actual jungle boots stay nice and dry but aren't nearly as tough and supportive. Maybe for motivation you can tell stories about adventures you did with your boots and show off the wear and tear. Arrow surfer used to do that a bit and it was pretty cool.

Not sure if you will read this, but I think you made the right move by not doing the drain holes. Great for a few situations, but not for most. I know I don’t want holes in my boots that rain or snow can get into. I was so close to buying some of these, my main gripe was that I hate lacing up 10” boots and just don’t need something that tall, especially where these are marketed primarily as a hiker or casual boot. If you made these available as a 7” or 8” boot I would definitely buy some.
@@ElLocoMonkey2012 some people love tall boots, clearly, otherwise they wouldn't sell. I owned some 10" loggers and just never found the support to be better for me than a 7-8" boot. To me it was just more lacing, more weight, and more heat retention. But, to each their own.
@@daniel17319 I never claimed they were jungle boots. In fact, I don't think I would ever buy jungle boots, simply because they do not suit my needs. That's kinda the point of my comment though, is that some people were upset that they weren't real jungle boots, but I think he made the right decision to not include the drains. I mean, why remake something that already exists? Weston was trying to make something new.
I find the arguments for why canvas and drain holes were unfeasible a bit silly. If you wanted to go for an abrasion resistant material that was still breathable could've gone for something like cordura. Triple stitching that Nicks does makes it highly unlikely to separate. Drain holes could be done by punching eyelets and then covering them with something that acts as a filter. Most modern jungle boots don't even have drain holes anymore and just have a synthetic that drains easily. You guys are advertising something as a jungle boot that just isn't a jungle boot. Obviously because it's your 2nd most viewed video. But you would never wear those things in a jungle, let alone anywhere hot.
I haven’t been up to date for the last few months due too a move down south I did and missed this completely, I wish I knew so much cause I would’ve made it work 😂
The ND4 would be more of a jungle boots if the waterproof pieces were swapped with thinner leather. Having done most of my marine corps career in the jungle, you're going to be wet no matter what. The best boots Drain water and dry fast.
No, those urban people AREN'T going out hiking more is the thing. So contradicting a smidge, e'en if well-intenty, etc. But I don't really worry about whom wears what for when; I'm just curious about these since this is vid 437 or something?
yes, that is not really a model of Frank's boot that would really interest me most of the time, either. but I would hafta double-check the price compared to some other things, etc.
I can't believe how negative some of the initial comments were when you dropped this and other boots. You've got thick skin, and stuck with your guns. I read a comment that really resonated - let the sale of the item do the talking. If they don't sell out, maybe there's some validity to the critisism, but if they sell out, they're just hating to hate. Keep up the good work. Your channel is exceptional.
For the most part, such things are bought by people who want to be who they never were and never will be, but they want to at least look like that. Or they have a lot of extra money and if the majority of people buy such things, then I won't be worse and will buy more expensive ones.
That is good to know about the drain holes-- I was curious why they weren't there, because I knew the boot they were modeled on had them. Makes sense. Eighty grand, geez.
I'm not personally a fan ot these myself but I appreciate the effort and skill that went into making these. That being said you definitely should have gone into why you didn't use drain holes and canvas in your video on them. I know you touched on it briefly but a thorough explanation would have been better. The stuff you talked about in this video would have helped people better understanding your decisions. For many the drain holes and canvas are what makes a jungle boot and so to not have them and call it one was disappointing to say the least. Im jot hating at all, I've defended the ND4 before but you definitely could have done more to prevent a bit of the hate. Although some people will hate it no matter what you say. Those people just have to be ignored if all they spout is insults. Not saying it's all your fault of course just that there are things you could have done to help people understand your perspective more. Then again hindsight is 20/20.
By the time of shipping and tax $700 for the bear slayers? Come on man! You are supplying the hipster market and taking away the ability of actual blue collar men from affording these.
You are smoking crack if you think those boots would be a good fit for the jungle. Take that :piece of art" to the jungle for a month and see how your feet are. Canvas and drain holes are in real jungle boots for a reason
The boots look really good and are probably well made. But they have nothing to do with war or tourism, they are just hearty boots for couch potatoes who have bought all the military stuff but have no idea how to be in a trench under fire. It is also unclear why these heavy SUVs are needed in the city. In short, the scope of this shoe is only to be filmed in beautiful videos)

Man i hope you make another drop of these sometime. Just cant spend 650 bucks on this right now
I was hoping it was an indestructible Jungle boot. A boot made to last in hot wet environment. A boot for when your foot is continuously soaked. Not a tough fashion boot.
Pnw boots are fashion boots
hopefully they do come back around sadly im going through a career change so 700 on boots isnt an option but in about a year it will be
Maybe for motivation you can tell stories about adventures you did with your boots and show off the wear and tear. Arrow surfer used to do that a bit and it was pretty cool.
@@daniel17319 Some of my friends take part in military operations and assault operations, and they wear completely different shoes. These boots are just for pretty pictures because they will die very quickly in the conditions in which the soldiers are
Like the look and all leather ordered a pair, definitely not jungle boots tho need drain holes man im definitely not hateing the boots, so exiting for my nd4s i love my nd3s
Gotta ask, do people actually lace the boots all the way up or close to it? I don't quite understand why you would want the uppers to be near the bottom of the calves. What's the purpose?
So when are they coming back?
It’s funny about the negativity of collaborations, I’ve loved ever boot you’ve made but I really wish I got the original ND1 just for the looks loved the two tone lineman patch and heel style
Please make that revised Bear Slayer sole---but with the rough out bison.
Got my bear slayers in, 2 full days wearing em, working in the shop, a tiny bit in the field, so far very comfy wish they would have built em in a 4e for me but i think they'll stretch a bit more. Much happier with them than i am with my damn goral smugs!
Very curious about the colour change on the green portions .
he had a pair that had brown in the upper instead of green I think those are the ones he wore for 100 miles and cut apart the one with green.
@@termsxofxuse5970 i think it is the light.
They look green in the overhead shots - I think it might be the green screen filter that’s keying out the panels.
How about releasing these on a Thurman55 last?
Some of ua want some high arch support.
Just ordered the “cancelled” ones. I had regretted sleeping on them. I am a mailman and they will get at least a decade of use pounding pavement.
I think perforated leather would have been a good balance of leather durability with a little more ventilation
10 is so much better in my opinion. 2 extra hooks takes an extra 3 seconds?
Then don't call them jungle boots.
@@CarrotConsumer who's calling them jungle boots? I certainly never did. Weston calls them the ND4.
If you had made an actual jungle boot these would probably sell like crazy - wouldn't be surprised if Nick's just kept them around as a model.
Most comfortable pacific Northwest boot you say, but haven't you removed everything that signify a boot from the northpacific?
I haven’t been up to date for the last few months due too a move down south I did and missed this completely, I wish I knew so much cause I would’ve made it work 😂
You should do an ND4LT (lace to toe) like the old Matterhorn Rangers or Danner Acadia
Love the green, look like awesome boots.
Can't wait to get my pair!!!
AND that's neigh what IRONY means, so you used it wrong when calling them out or whate'er.
I still can't figure out why sometimes they look brown, but I still want a modified brown version someday maybe.
I would be more likely to buy something if I have NO complaints about said thing....
yes, that is not really a model of Frank's boot that would really interest me most of the time, either. but I would hafta double-check the price compared to some other things, etc.
I'd rather do something useful than something merely disruptive. and maybe I'll watch the rest later, then
Nick is a serious serious serious boot brand
I can't believe how negative some of the initial comments were when you dropped this and other boots. You've got thick skin, and stuck with your guns. I read a comment that really resonated - let the sale of the item do the talking. If they don't sell out, maybe there's some validity to the critisism, but if they sell out, they're just hating to hate. Keep up the good work. Your channel is exceptional.
I just think it's dumb to call a boot that isn't suited for the jungle a jungle boot.
For the most part, such things are bought by people who want to be who they never were and never will be, but they want to at least look like that. Or they have a lot of extra money and if the majority of people buy such things, then I won't be worse and will buy more expensive ones.
It's all the creativity without any jealousy.
Please keep the boots to their respective limits. 500 ND1s etc.
I hike in my JK superduty s Helps a ton w my balance and ankles (rolling). And they look cool as shit 😂
Stop reminding me i cant afford this. So nice and want one. Reissue someday.
Time to do a Jim Green collaboration jungle boot, now that would be interesting.
Yes a barefoot version 😎
be cool if they could sell this boot permanently ... looks like a good boot for framing
I know its a green screen thing but these look really cool in black and dark brown. Just sayn
Love to aford these boots. I wear german army boots every day. Well only shoe I own is a german army. Would love to see you do a boot like that 😊
It's the only shoe I have tbh I have one boot
Dude the US army officers wear nowadays the Corcoran boots for style
I just don't understand the hate you get, Wes
Whatever. Just send mine already. I'm kinda sorta kidding. Don't rush production.
Please bring back the ND1 or the Drifters
@@daniel17319what does the original jungle boot have to do with ND1s or the Whites Drifter ?
It’s really great to see the collab experimenting and trying something new! ND4 was a unique design. Keep doing you!
That is good to know about the drain holes-- I was curious why they weren't there, because I knew the boot they were modeled on had them. Makes sense. Eighty grand, geez.
@@daniel17319 ok well you dont have to buy them then
Send me a pair. I would be glad to try them out!
Nd5 with barefoot minimalist shape.
These boots turned out to be real nice. Good job! Also, I like your “roll of quarters” metaphor for the arch support. I call them, “ladder rungs”
By the time of shipping and tax $700 for the bear slayers? Come on man! You are supplying the hipster market and taking away the ability of actual blue collar men from affording these.
That's because they're a 'hipster' product. There are are plenty of very good boots for any line of work at a reasonable price.
Make ya some toe boots!!!
Jump boots but…. Yeah….
Indepth videos are great. Sadly however, this boot looks like ass. Easily the least interesting of the 4 iterations.
Not expecting a direct answer but wanted to just throw out there there are those of us curious regarding the potential WW2 Japanese boot collabe.
I didn't know they taught boot making at AIT.
😎 😎😎😎🍿🍿🍿🍿😂😂😂😂😂😂
I voted for a return on these. I asked for Nicks to relaunch a limited pair. I want this boot.
GOT DAYUM MILLENIALS WHERIN THEM BOOTS FER STYLE!
Be you and don’t worry about what others think.
You are smoking crack if you think those boots would be a good fit for the jungle. Take that :piece of art" to the jungle for a month and see how your feet are. Canvas and drain holes are in real jungle boots for a reason
True jungle boots need eyelets
These aren't meant to be "true" jungle boots bro why can't you guys get that through your head
I love how this looks worn in way more than new. Y’all should try to have a worn in version of any boot you show (whenever it’s reasonable).
100 miles sounds better than whatever it is in hours... is that about 40 hours wear :)
Product doesn’t have to be good or look good you just have to convince the sheep’s that it is and they will buy it.
