I had a heck of a time getting the motor out of the volute. I had to use two flat blade screwdrivers placed under the tabs of the seal cup and pry it out. No amount of yanking would free it up.
Everything else went smoothly thanks to your great instructions. Thank you much

What’s the plug on the front of the volute for? I have had issues getting these pumps to prime, and stared pulling the plug out and letting condensate run out the plug to prime the pump first. Think this is a good way ?

Just a little tid bit, the oil from your hands can ruin the ceramic face of the seal. When pushing the seal in place you should use the little cardboard cutout that seperates the two ceramic pieces in the package. Great informative video though.

Should grease or oil ever be used when installing a seal?

How many times have you ever gone to change a seal on a unit that has been in operation and the parts are stuck together? I have changed these seals three times in the last 11 years on our condensate pumps and in all instances I destroy the motor bearings because the parts will never come apart without brute force.

Hi Dave, is the problem due to seals that won't easily separate, so the unit won't come apart? I wonder if that P80 lube or similar would keep the seals from sticking to the pump body. I have a 30+ year old pump with leaking seals, badly corroded. I know I won't get that apart without breaking it.

@@bradclements1815 Yessir, that is my experience. The seal is so stuck that the motor bearings are destroyed in the process of getting the thing apart. I would guess some sort of lube would help prevent them sticking so badly? Quite possibly.

We have one of these in our home. It’s very loud. Is that normal?
Quite often the pump also discharges water. Even if we replace the pump, will it still be loud?

It depends what you define as loud. They are not silent. What type of sound is it making?
The purpose of this pump is to discharge water from the tank to either the boiler or another tank.
