  • The ESP LTD Phoenix 1000 is an offset guitar. How does that compare with a Gibson Les Paul?

Your next title should say, why does every guitar have strap buttons when nobody uses them?

You hold your guitar all wrong. And so do thousands of others. You rest the guitar on your right leg like most people who dont wear a strap. And then you got used to it like thousands of others. The offset means nothing but the shape. The 12th fret doesnt matter where it is on your body. Classical style, which i am speaking about, puts the 12th fret on your left shoulder. The bad habit leads to players playing on the 12th to 24th frets swing or push the guitar in front of them to the correct position to be comfortable. Bad habits are hard to break. This mainly came along 20 years ago with lazy poor players who couldnt afford a strap resting the guitar on the leg. College acoustic side banger and neck swaying idiots made this happen. Eddie Van Halen doesnt do this crap, why do you? The offset is simply fender making a new body shape but retaining the dual cut. And dont give me that horseshit about "its the way I play", well your doing it wrong and happy with your choice.

Literally first time I realized why offset is called this way!
