I made a basic animatic for my friend’s podcast and it took me four hours in Procreate to make. I really wanted to see how I could animate in the software since I had seen they let you use each layer as a frame. This new feature with Procreate 5 will really really get me into animation. I just know it.
I'm so excited for this! Really keen to try out some animated illustrations. Most animating programs don't have the powerful illustrating tools that procreate does, so I'm excited to be able to use the brushes etc that I'm familiar with with animation work
I’ve said it before, but I really really love when you do a video on character design, animation and comics with Procreate. The information is always clear and fun, and I always feel 💯 percent hyped and excited to try out the tips, tutorials and advice you give. Thank you for the content, Brookes super excited for Procreate 5 🤩😊
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH Why do I keep torturing myself by watching these awesome beta videos??????? But really, thank you so much for bringing us juicy beta sneak peaks! I love your animations!
oh my gosh 😍 3:55 thank you for giving a true tutorial, that’s exactly what I was wondering about the incredible animation demos I’ve seen that’s different from the flipbook gif style animation
I'm *REALLY* excited for this feature! I already did a similar animation in the current version of Procreate. I can't wait to see how we can push our animations in this new feature!
I am dying to get an iPad and procreate now! Digital drawing and animation on other programmes has never got me as drawing traditionally has. But procreate looks so intuitive, I feel like it will really be what I need to truly enjoy digital art. And now they're adding a solid animation function!! I haven't been excited to animate since I left college in June but it looks so natural on procreate that I can't help but be hyped! I'm really enjoying your videos especially the ones exploring procreate because they've helped me decide that this is a tool I really need to invest in!
Procreate made me want an ipad pro/stylus. The reveal of procreate 5, made me buy one the next day. I can’t wait to reignite my love for drawn animation.
I’ve been struggling with other animation apps, both PC and iPad, and this is possibly the greatest news I have heard/seen in ages....and it’s inProCreate! Looking forward to future ProCreate vids!!
I just got an iPad Pro and procreate! I've heard so many good things about it and can't wait to dig in. Also this new feature looks mighty fine. I'm not much of an animator, but I'm sure I'll play around with it.
ahhhhhh I can’t wait for thiissss I tried Procreate animation in the current version; it was my character summoning and throwing a fireball, and it was so hard without onion skinning and all. God I need this.
Haha, i Love this. Can’t wait for the big procreate 5 update to drop for everyone! I actually made a little gif with procreate 4 and posted it on my Instagram today, because I’m getting into the animation spirit lately. This will be a big game changer, even more people will start using procreate for sure! I’m so happy for them!
I animated with procreate once, and immediately I was like “Jesus Christ never again”. But this will help me get back into the initial reason of why I started art!
hey ! Awesome video! I am super excited for this update but I have a question? Do you know how to get a lot of layers? For example, if I have a 3840 x 2160 I will only have 20 layers. What canvas were you using? Or does Animation assist let you have unlimited layers? Thanks !!!
@@CharacterDesignForgeThanks! I just tried changing the DPI but when I do, nothing happens and the layers stay the same. I have a 6th generation 2018 ipad
Does it have audio as well? I really like to animate, and plan on adding sound to future animations. And it would be so much easier if I didn't have to use multiple programs for that to happen.
How does it work with grouped layers? For me if I have like 10 layers and wanna group them, it only shows like 1 frame in the animation :( I dont know how to do it.
I’m kinda new to procreate so maybe you guys can help me out. I have made a animation (the lineart) and i want to color my animation, however when i try to color it in with the color pellets it fills in the entire canvas cause i havent closed the lines (the open lines is in the character design) so what i thought i could do is create another layer so i can just do the coloring behind the lineart but this isnt working as it makes a new layer. If anyone knows how to fix this/what i can do then please let me know!
You showed that you can set a “layer” as animation background or foreground, but can you apply this property to a group to avoid having to flatten into a single layer?
I seriously was confused by this video....I was like....why don't have theses tools? Then I realized its a BETA and its not publicly released. Can't wait.
Looks awesome! I'm saving up to get an iPad pro like what you've got. I'm hoping to make animations of my own as well! :) So I know you're probably really busy, but by any chance did you happen to get to read the comment I posted on your "1,000 bad drawings" video?
@@CharacterDesignForge Okay I got it, I'll just paste it here: So quick question, when you say you make videos to help your patreons, does it include helping them develop their character's stories? I wish I had seen your videos back in August of last year. XD This would have saved me some time. I've learned a lot from watching your channel and I look forward to learning more! ^-^ Anyway, what I was trying to get at with all this is, how do I change my character and their backstory and help develop more character arc without making them someone entirely different? I'm unfamiliar with Procreate. I've used Adobe Flash, and it seems to have all the features discussed in this video. What are the advantages of Procreate? Is it cheaper? More user-friendly? Useful on different platforms? (I'm posting here, instead of just Googling the topic, because I'm curious to hear folks' experiences and opinions.)
I've talked about it extensively through other videos here: ua-cam.com/play/PL-ng1NuQbDGUFlFWWXR8oGYRTW2zFiiQb.html Absolutely cheaper, Procreate is a one time purchase of $10, and focuses on creating a full feature set for artists. A lot of additions like the ones in this new version just make it better and better.
You can already do that... just keep the tree on the first layer (or last) and keep it visible while your animating, and than at the end the tree will be there through out the whole animation. (4:03)
It still sounds like a very tedious work, setting sketch, lineart and color layer individually each time, I'd like to see a default option to make three layers (for example) everytime a new frame is created.
I don't want to be that guy, but I feel like the legs are shorter when their behind the character. Anyway, this is really cool. I can't wait to try out this new version of procreate.
The biggest disappointment with this is that there’s seemingly no way to import audio. I already use procreate in my animation process for inking and coloring after I do the sketches in Flipaclip. Flipaclip doesn’t have a deeply customizable brush system like procreate’s and only four preset brushes and they aren’t very good. I was really hoping that my animation workflow could have been entirely moved into one app. On the other hand, for game animation, this is basically perfect. I thought that a light box and foreground/background layer setting would be nothing but pipe dreams, but these maniacs went and added a full on animation timeline. This might not have replace Flipaclip from my video animation process, but it’ll certainly replace piskel from my sprite animation process. I’m tempted to replace every pixel sprite with a hand drawn style, but I’ll still use procreate for the rest even in pixels.
Sorry I wasn't trying to be smug, It's hard for someone with very little animation experience to have the right frame of reference. I thought you were going to be like "it only took me 2 hours" so thanks for being honest.
Oh sounds good! No worries, Procreate records the amount of time taken and it was about that with breaks in between- but I’m by no means a full time animator, so I’m sure a lot of folks could complete the same in a lot less time!
