The folks who wrote the music for these games really did some incredible work. That bass line (no pun intended this time) is phenominal, really drives the song forward and makes it feel extremely urgent.

LordChaosJunior Eh, PopUp has some use, and the Rush2 Virus's can drop so awesome yet weird crap, but Gospel totally takes the cake, right after it undoes the cake's status as a lie

Oh yeah, this theme is definitely fitting of being final and decisive. The only final boss theme in the BN series where I think it just has that "let's end this" vibe to it. SO awesome
Plus there's the fact that the orginization's symbol is a stylized G and it was pretty much everywhere in the game. Though in the English dub of the anime it was called Grave.
I think the most pressing question is "Why do Bug Fragments in mass quantities naturally form into a shape like Gregar/Gospel and not anything else?" I mean, yeah, you can see the design team absolutely took notes from Treble/Gospel in designing the boss, and you can easily understand how they decided three games later to reuse the design with some updates for one of the Cybeasts, but the in-universe mechanics behind so many coding bugs just naturally gravitating towards a quadrupedal wolf-like form is kinda weird. Wouldn't you think there would be some variation in form?
@@kaienjin5468 Gospel was an unintended result. Call it a freak accident. The objective of the evil organization in Battle Network 2 was to create a super Navi, a recreation of Bass, through bug fusion. But the bug fusion caused the Navi to mutate into Gospel.
I guess without a little artificial manipulation like with Falzar, multi-bug organisms/cyber beasts just naturally form into wolves like Gregar & Gospel. I think Gospel was meant to be "incomplete" in its design where Gregar was meant to show what Gospel would have looked like if it had "completed". Hence why Gregar had a more refined & finished look while Gospel looked like it was still "building".
Between this music, a final boss so big that only half of him fits on screen during the fight and, even the background showing the ground being destroyed and ripped upward by Gospel's mere existence. Yeah this was one of those final boss experiences you don't just recreate.
So a Net Mafia tries to recreate the ultimate cyber warrior, fails, and instead creates what in another universe could be considered said warrior's dog. You can't make BN2's lore up.
So the fake Bass, which is an inferior copy, turns into this? A boss that can be trapped with a simple "panel grab" chip? Alright. Well, if that's what the inferior is, then the real one should be easy. (Does the Bass fight) JESUS CHRIST HOW DID I WIN THIS
It's interesting how this theme is reprised in Mega Man Battle Network 6, during the final battle against the Cybeasts. Both Gospel and Gregar are programs created through the fusion of Bug Frags, and they both have a rather lupine appearance. Think there' a connection?
MrBigbrownies Actually, Gregar is not Gospel, but the reason they look so similar is because they were created the same way. They were both formed by a massive swarm of bugfrags coalescing into a single entity. The difference is that Gregar came into existence naturally over time, while Gospel was created through human experimentation.
Damn I can hardly believe this game is 18 years old. I remember the day I got my GBA and this with it, I was pretty hyped since it was my first handheld console since I wasn't allowed to have a regular Gameboy since it would distract me too much, but now I was 11 and old enough that a handheld wouldn't distract me (lol yeah right). I remember fighting Gospel the first time as well. I was at my grandmother's, which was much more enjoyable since I had games to play and I didn't have to watch TV/read a book anymore. I was on the couch and thought Gospel looked cool (It did not occur to me it was meant to look like Treble since I didn't own MM7 or MM8). And I fought it and, well I died. Ran out of chips and it still had like ~250 HP, but I was too shitty to kill him and died to the electric breath.
