Cute, spring fashions. I especially like the short blazers with jeans. In a world gone "grunge" it is great to see a woman who cares about her appearance.!
I love matchy matchy. In fact, I usually shop from the same store from top to bottom so I can match them all. To me, that is put together. When I buy an outfit, I match it to specific jewelry, shoes, and handbags, and I prefer more put together than effortlessly chic. Thanks for the tips. The video was informative.
💐 Coco Chanel: "Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman." You've made some excellent points on the importance of our being effortlessly stylish. Great tips on the video! What I really loved was the tip to look 'undone'. Whenever I see a stylish woman she usually has some part of her that is undone. It seems edgy and chic. Now, thanks to you, I know how to be undone! Love it!!
Kay the reason you got all those compliments when you wore the black jeans and blue tee and blazer is because you look just stunning in that color! Wear it more. Great video! And enjoy your daughters wedding.
I recently went on a vacation where I very strategically picked all the pieces so that everything would mix and match. I didn't have access to any of the "fallback" pieces from home that I would tend to wear if I wasn't doing anything special (you know what I mean!). Although I already knew that what I picked would do this, I have to say that knowing that I looked my absolute best each and every day of the vacation was so satisfying! I only took one pair of earrings, I bracelet, and 1 necklace. I didn't have to agonize each day, but always wore at least one of the pieces. The same with shoes - I took three pairs, stylish sneakers, pointed toe flats, and a pair of chunky heeled snake print sling backs, and one neutral purse. I'm home know - and am still trying to dress myself in the same manner. Yes, it does feel good! All of your tips here were excellent. Color is important, but knowing which shade of which color is even more so. I know someone who was told her colors, but didn't pay attention to the shades or tones, and thinks that she can wear every pink, every blue etc. rather than wearing just the ones that are in her palette.
This is you at your best! You are truly a “Summer” and this video shows why choosing the perfect color for your skin tone works. We are all noticing you and not your clothes. This pink, ivory and light blue all make you look so young and pretty! Great job!
Hi Kay, thanks for a thought provoking video. I'd like to add that I've learned to know and accept my personal style. I tend to go for a classic pulled together look but I've seen ladies with an exuberant eccletic style sense that is just gorgeous on them. I , however, could never pull it off. Style is so subjective and individualistic. Knowing yourself definitely helps because you won't dress inauthentically.
Good job, Kay! I have been replacing a lot of my clothes with natural fiber (mostly linen and silk) this spring and summer. You are right, natural fibers are not only more comfortable, they look more effortlessly chic. The price is that more work to wash them carefully, steam them, and iron them. I am getting used to the extra work and even like steaming.... But I agree it will be hard to only have natural fiber clothes, especially pants and skirts. Linen are super easy to get too wrinkly. Satin made with silk has a shine to it and can look too delicate for casual wear. They have limitations. Natural fiber blend fabric for skirts or pants still have the natural fiber feel, but a lot easier to care and maintain the shape throughout the day. I am willing to put some effort into looking effortlessly stylish, but not too much efforts.
I love the idea of the Hero anchoring piece. You get to be your own hero in your clothing show all the time! Thanks for the color ideas. The hot pink dress and shirt and the color block dress you wear in the video are your color! They look great on you.
This was really good and so helpful. What I like to do is never decide what I am going to wear in the morning. I am not a morning person and am bound to get it wrong. So I pull out the clothes I want to wear the night before and hang them on the bedroom door and put out shoes, jewellery and pack my handbag. This means I don’t have to think about it in the morning and also presents a good opportunity to check for things like creases, hanging cottons or dirt on shoes that I may have missed before.
I love that hot pink top you are wearing in the video, it looks fabulous on you! Unfortunately, it does not come in that color anymore. Guess it is sold out. I took like the idea of the Hero anchoring piece. Glad you made it safe and sound to Georgia last night. Have a great day!
Excellent video. I do try and dress in the way you describe but I never really articulated it. I think it's more youthful, easy and modern. You've got me thinking now about it and I realise it's a great way to dress, for all ages. Looking forward to your next video.
You seem to have a lot of nice shoes with block heels in the 2-2.5” range. Those are exactly what I’m always looking for. I would love a video, with links, to your collection of those! Thanks.
Love all the looks! Congrats on your daughter's wedding, if you're willing it would be great to see how you style for it. I'll be going to mine too one day (hopefully!) and would love Mother of the bride/ groom ideas. ❤
Another great video, Kay…just got out my spring/summer clothes and thought I don’t like any of this stuff anymore…lol Will be thinking of you and your whole family this weekend…Many blessings to your daughter Abby and her new husband to be.
Good day to you Kay and I enjoy watching your video because I'm a fashion lovers even I'm a grand mother I like to go out and wear clothes that I will look good.thankyou.
Love your videos! I have watched many by others and to me yours are the best. I can tell that you have educated yourself well about the topics and done ple ty of research. Thank you. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Some great ideas! Thank you! However, using different shades of white or navy doesn’t look good in my opinion, unless they are at least 5 “degrees” of difference. If almost matching, but not quite a match, it looks like a mistake to my eye.
😉 Absolutely agree. Color coordination is critically important. It's the difference between feeling like a 💲million dollars🤑 & some sort of sad sack🥴. 😔I can't just throw things alI navy or black, & act as if they magically work together. I've simply learned that some items are simply 🚫 pleasing to me🧐. Maybe it's that the intensity is not matched. I personally haven't always been able to identify why two tones of a single shade don't work. I only know instinctively it won't suit me. I go with my gut. 😖I hate when someone asks me for an analysis on their outfit. Just like there are silhouettes & styles that look stunning on others, there are color combinations I may find perfectly charming on another person, like Kay. It doesn't mean I would ever personally wear them. That's no slam on them. Definitely do not gravitate toward mixing different whites, creams, or beige light neutrals all at once. That sometimes highly chic hodge podge will instantly make me feel generic (i.e., third class steerage 🚢). May enjoy thrifting & hunting for the perfect garment, but I despise looking like I'm wearing anyone's cast-offs〰️ esp. all at once. 🚫 Hand-me-down chic. 💚 Bridget from Cali ☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
I agree. Wearing slightly different shades of the same color looks tacky, the opposite of well put together. I've hear people wonder if someone was colorblind for wearing "almost matching" colors.
....This was a really great Video.... I was curious as to there not being the * List * , as you discussed each of the points you were speaking of. Hello Kay, beautiful, beautiful colors and styles. Thanks for sharing. Kay, I pray, that this weekend, will be the best for u and ur family. Blessed wedding and congratulations. 🙏💙🥰🌹👏🌸👍🌷✝️🌼🌺
You look like you just stepped out of my latest Talbots catalog! So chic and effortlessly put together - just as you said! I love your style, and have a lot of the same pieces! Enjoy your weekend with all the festivities surrounding your daughter’s wedding! Best wishes to the bride and groom for many, many blessed years together!
Great tips!! You look fantastic in the hot pink blouse. Silly question, but have you always had bangs? Something looks different about your hair. Love it
I enjoyed this video so much I didn't want it to end. I dress elegantly casual!! Just my natural style!! Always put casual pieces with your dressier pieces. In the summer here in Arizona I wear mostly all linen & cotton. These two things give the vibe I want!! Also, more made up face then messy hair OR fixy hair more natural make-up!!
Thank you for showing some styles without a jacket. Most of the time wearing a jacket is too hot, especially indoors. I thinks jackets do make an outfit, but they are impractical unless it’s fall or spring and you are outdoors.
Hi Kay, someone else may have already told you this but you look stunning in that vibrant pink blouse!! You are rocking it! Lol! Thanks for all the videos and I thoroughly enjoy all your tips and advice! Cindy
You know, I really didn’t think I did anything different, but my daughter said it looked like I had eyeliner on my bottom lids. But I didn’t. 🤷🏼♀️ So I have no idea! 😬
Great video, but you left out what I think is the foundation of all "effortless style". All of your clothes fit you beautifully. You would look stylish in almost any combination of your clothes, because they are tailored to you. Poorly fitting clothes will throw off even a beautiful outfit.
I love the shirt you are wearing. And I know you are here in Georgia for the wedding. I hope the wedding is beautiful. I’m sure it will be. Your going to have great weather. I just realized when you mentioned the staples you need. Most of my closet is that. I have a few shirts with color and some graphic tees. I have a few dresses and skirts in my closet. Now the guest room closet has more dresses and blazers. I could put all of it in my closet and may do that soon. On the bottom of the closet are about three air mattresses. So there isn’t much room for anything long. I have room in ,y closet now. I’m going to ask my husband about getting a closet system. The closet now is two bars. And it’s a long closet. It could be used a lot better. But my husband is cheap. And if he might have to do it,he’ll probably say no. I could probably do it. I can use all the tools he does. I used to be very handy at our old house. There just isn’t anything that needs done here, other than my closet.
Great video. Making an initial effort to collect wardrobe pieces that work well together and reflect your personal style will make the effortlessly chic look easy to attain. This is also a feature of the way French women dress: to look understatedly elegant and casually chic. The have a word for it: désinvolte. While this can also be translated as flippant, in this context it means that the look is “slightly imperfect” and the wearer didn’t try overly hard.”. And as you point out, we should want that certain and undefinable “je ne sais quoi” (again, thanks to the French) and should hope the focus is on the person, not on the outfit. Ideally, people shouldn’t even remember what you wore, just that you looked great.
Have fun at the Wedding. I will what for the picture of you in your dress. And if you can your daughter. You look so pretty. The one thing I have noticed out there that is a trend ( I guess ) Is the eyebrow thing. Wow . not good. If you only see that it is not good. Thanks Joyce
Good morning. I was wondering if your four or five colors change for spring/summer then do you stay with those same colors for fall/winter along with the neutrals?
Hi Debbie. Great question. I actually change them a little each season, generally to reflect what’s trending just a bit, as well as what seems seasonally appropriate. For instance Kelly green is trending right now but I may swap in hunter green in the fall. And I tend to wear pinks in the spring and summer but more red in the fall and winter. I almost always have blue in my wardrobe but the shades generally change. And last winter I wore more brown and grey but this winter I may wear more black or navy.
You hit my personal style SPOT ON with this one, Kay! This has to be my favorite video of yours right now; I love it!! 🥰 Ps) In common with you….my daughter gets married in just 4 short months…(my first born)… I just finalized my “subdued” yet elegant accessories for my dress today! 🥰

Except, I don't think black is a good color for Kay
Hi Kay, thanks for a thought provoking video. I'd like to add that I've learned to know and accept my personal style. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I work so hard to look like I got dressed effortlessly that it’s not really effortless. Your suggestions are perfect.
It does actually feel like hard work to look effortless! I cannot generally look effortless by accident.
Congratulations Kay!
Enjoy your Daughter’s wedding beautiful!

Great tip, Suzanne. It does make a difference to choose wisely when we’re at our best.
Your haircut makes you look fresh along with that great color. Best wishes for your daughter's wedding 💕
I love that hot pink top you are wearing in the video, it looks fabulous on you! Unfortunately, it does not come in that color anymore. Guess it is sold out. I took like the idea of the Hero anchoring piece.
Glad you made it safe and sound to Georgia last night. Have a great day!
Thanks so much Sherry. Yes that color did sell out. I think the ladies of DFMD bought most of them!
Excellent video. I do try and dress in the way you describe but I never really articulated it. I think it's more youthful, easy and modern. You've got me thinking now about it and I realise it's a great way to dress, for all ages. Looking forward to your next video.

Thanks, Kay! Great inspiration as I reorganize my closet for warm weather clothes! Looking forward to next week.
Hi Janice, how are you doing??
You seem to have a lot of nice shoes with block heels in the 2-2.5” range. Those are exactly what I’m always looking for. I would love a video, with links, to your collection of those! Thanks.

Great video Kay, loved the tips. Congratulations on your daughter's wedding. Looking forward to next week's video.
I love your videos, such great advice. I find it takes me quite a lot of work trying to look effortlessly stylish! So this video is helping a lot.
Good day to you Kay and I enjoy watching your video because I'm a fashion lovers even I'm a grand mother I like to go out and wear clothes that I will look good.thankyou.
This is one of my favorite videos of yours!
This is very practical for me, things I will be incorporating you to my style.

Hi Debbie, how are you doing??
You look amazing in that color and hair style. Thanks for all you do!
Hi Gayle, how are you doing??
Watched this video again. Love my cashmere zipped hoodie that I bought secondhand
This was an excellent video. You presented so many helpful tips. Thanks!
Love your videos! I have watched many by others and to me yours are the best. I can tell that you have educated yourself well about the topics and done ple ty of research. Thank you. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Okay you look amazing! You had me at graphic tees! I love the Georgia Peaches shirt!
That shade of pink, really works for you! Where did you find it? The link isn’t the same shirt…it’s a polo or T-shirt style. Thanks, Kay! 💕🫣🌺
The pink is sold out.
You truly understand fashion; the video was so helpful. I need to incorporate some pattern blazers in my wardrobe.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Gail. 🥰
That pink shirt looks great on you! (by the way, the link isn't right...it goes to a knit top)
I echo that
Hi Anne. Thank you. The link is the right one, but the pink is sold out. I have the black and beige ones too. Best top of the spring!
The link takes you to a short sleeved pullover silk blend sweater
Another great video. Thanks so much! Looking forward to next week's edition!
Thank you, Kathy. I think it will post on Thursday next week. 😊

Thank you. 🥰
Love all your tips, Kay. So very helpful
You are beautiful in your pink blouse. Your eyes just pop, Kay💕
Wow, what a plethora of GREAT ideas.
Thanks so much for watching Eileen.
Great tips, Kay! I'm looking forward to the next part.

I agree. Wearing slightly different shades of the same color looks tacky, the opposite of well put together. I've hear people wonder if someone was colorblind for wearing "almost matching" colors.
Please do a hair styling video! Love your hair. Thanks for all of the style tips!🥰
Hi Molly, how are you doing??
This pink is beautiful on you.
Fantastic tips thank you Kay❣️
....This was a really great Video....
I was curious as to there not being the * List * , as you discussed each of the points you were speaking of. ( it's nice to see those on screen, a few at a time onscreen. ) Or...a " Cheat Sheet "... 🙂😊
I don't care for the look of trainers ( sneakers ) with dresses etc... I think it looks odd, unless it's a denim dress or skirt that doesn't look odd with trainers.
I must say that the particular colour you have on is SO flattering and lovely on you . Definitely a colour that works for you , Miss Kay !
Excellent video and tips! Thank you!
Hi Jan, how are you doing??
Your hair is right on!
Excellent ideas like always. BTW, love your pink shirt.
Thank you for a great, thoughtful video!
Hello Kay, beautiful, beautiful colors and styles. Thanks for sharing.
Kay, I pray, that this weekend, will be the best for u and ur family.
Blessed wedding and congratulations. 🙏💙🥰🌹👏🌸👍🌷✝️🌼🌺
I love all the looks! Your hair looks wedding ready! You will have to share how you do your bangs to get them to lay so nice! 😉
Thank you Kay, I love this video with all your tips!!
Excellent video and tips!
Thank you, Sharron. That is very gracious. 💕
You are the consummate professional Kay. What a great video and you relay the information with such grace and ease or should I say "effortlessly".
Thank you Kimberly. That’s very kind and encouraging. 🥰
Great tips!! You look fantastic in the hot pink blouse. Silly question, but have you always had bangs? Something looks different about your hair. Love it
I’ve had bangs a lot, but just recently had them cut back in after trying to grow them out for a while. I also recently got some highlights.
I enjoyed this video so much I didn't want it to end. I dress elegantly casual!! Just my natural style!! Always put casual pieces with your dressier pieces.
