There is no sense in having a conversation when the words have different meanings to the communicators. So I will try to be as clear as I can on what I mean by certain words. I will say that I do not want anarchy. I will explain more about that as well. I will try and answer your question after laying a little foundation. I will also challenge you on some of your premises as much as I can understand them from your comments. Quite a bit has been written about socialism and collectivism. My sense is that you as a collectivist. Many people are. And collectivistic thinking is also unfortunately on the rise. That does not necessarily mean that it is a good thing. My views will not be popular. That also does not mean they are wrong. I am an individualist. There are certain premises which I have adopted into my belief system. Very much of my later in life philosophy is based on Objectivism. Objectivism is the Philosophy of Ayn Rand. It is also the same basic philosophy of the Founders. She has been vilified by the collectivists who she considers to be the problem with modern governments and societies. But she also has a large following. She came to the U.S. escaping from Russia. There would also be no geniuses or beautiful people. Everyone would be the same, they would all conform. They would be average. But there is an equality shared by every individual. It is that he has rights equal to every other individual. The job of law and government is to see to it that this is maintained. Not for some special interests, not for any group over another, but for every single individual. Every crime there is can be defined as the act of one individual or entity violating the rights of an individual. Many people think that it can't be that simple. But it is. Now to your premises. There is no "free" health care (except perhaps a charitable doctor you chooses to work for free). Health care is paid by someone. It may be that socialism can provide free healthcare to some but not equally to all. It has to steal from some to pay for others. If everyone paid the same amount in tax for the same government services, then I would say fine. But the government taxes some more than others and then does not even provide the same benefits to everyone. A sales tax may be somewhat fair provided everyone has to pay it. But a progressive income tax is selective looting. The government is not the best entity to do so much of these things. A defensive military to protect the rights of its people is a valid function of government. But today we are engaged in offensive and aggressive war. It is more about looting than anything else. Some people are convinced that this hatred and death are somehow in our best interests. I do not. Education? Are you kidding? the government controlled education is only indoctrination. It teaches people to obey rather than think. I am for education which is why I oppose government run indoctrination. Functional infrastructure can be created by private industry, far better than by government politicians who have sold us all into permanent debt slavery for generations. As with the WWE (or whatever their name is now) it's just for show. They know that the people want a strong leader, such as Trump portrays, and so they give us Trump to give us hope. I could be wrong, but that's what I believe. Either way, Cruz is much more knowledgeable in the numerous important matters that plague us today and he has worked hard throughout his political career to fight for the rights of the people and to protect the Constitution.
Cruz has exposed the corruption and the hypocrisy of numerous politicians; Trump, on the other hand, has publicly admitted to using his massive wealth to buy off politicians.
Trump is also, fore and foremost, a businessman...of a large corporation (or several). If you know anything about the relationship between big government and big corporations you should seriously take this into consideration.
Obviously I could be wrong. Perhaps Trump does have America's welfare at heart and is sincerely concerned about the state of the people and the economy. I hope that is true. However, there is reason to be suspicious of him as he stands to gain personally if he is in a position to further his corporation's welfare by enacting or promoting laws that further favors corporations.
With all of that said, I remain neutral on whether or not I like Trump, but I know that Cruz has a political history that I like; though I do need to do some further research on both of them.

I don't know how to address this in a few words so forgive me in advance for the length of this comment.
I am a bit of a stickler when it comes to semantics. There is no sense in having a conversation when the words have different meanings to the communicators. So I will try to be as clear as I can on what I mean by certain words. I will say that I do not want anarchy. I will explain more about that as well.
I will try and answer your question after laying a little foundation. I will also challenge you on some of your premises as much as I can understand them from your comments. Quite a bit has been written about socialism and collectivism.
My sense is that you as a collectivist. Many people are. And collectivistic thinking is also unfortunately on the rise. That does not necessarily mean that it is a good thing. My views will not be popular. That also does not mean they are wrong. I am an individualist. There are certain premises which I have adopted into my belief system. Very much of my later in life philosophy is based on Objectivism. Objectivism is the Philosophy of Ayn Rand. It is also the same basic philosophy of the Founders. She has been vilified by the collectivists who she considers to be the problem with modern governments and societies. But she also has a large following. She came to the U.S. escaping from Russia. She wrote extensively about why she believed that the U.S. as it was founded was the greatest country ever created. She believe that the Founders were enlightened men.
Rather than fully explain her ideas and philosophies here, I would suggest you might read some of her essays and novels. "Atlas Shrugged" is her best and most well known, and "The Fountainhead" is also worth reading. It is more difficult of her critics to dismiss her today because so much of what she wrote seems prophetic when looking at the world as it is.
She also wrote "Capitalism: the unknown ideal". Also worth a read. My views are also based on the writing of the Founders, and on the writings of economists and philosophers such as Frederick Bastiat, and Murray Rothbard.
In a nut shell I come from the position that the greatest philosophical battle of your time is not Democrat vs. Republican, nor Conservative vs, Liberal. It is collectivism vs. individualism. If you get into the meanings of what collectivism is and historically what happens to societies which adopt it as a basis, collectivism always leads to slavery, while individualism always leads to freedom. The bigger the government gets, the less freedoms there are.
There is no such thing as collective freedom. Freedom is a trait of the individual.
So with that as a foundation I will try and answer your questions. Anarchy is no government. It can only result in chaos. There are some people who call themselves anarchist who really are not opposed to all government, but just opposed to big, oppressive, intrusive government which ultimately become tyrannical and makes slaves of us all.
There are valid functions of government. And in my view it is not so complicated. The valid functions of government is to serve the people (as opposed to dictate to the people) by doing basically one thing. To make law to protect the natural (or some say God given) rights of every single individual equally.
All men are not created equal. If they were there would be no ugly people or stupid people. There would also be no geniuses or beautiful people. Everyone would be the same, they would all conform. They would be average.
But there is an equality shared by every individual. It is that he has rights equal to every other individual. The job of law and government is to see to it that this is maintained. Not for some special interests, not for any group over another, but for every single individual.
Every crime there is can be defined as the act of one individual or entity violating the rights of an individual. Many people think that it can't be that simple. But it is.
Now to your premises. There is no "free" health care (except perhaps a charitable doctor you chooses to work for free).
Health care is paid by someone. It may be that socialism can provide free healthcare to some but not equally to all. It has to steal from some to pay for others.
If everyone paid the same amount in tax for the same government services, then I would say fine. But the government taxes some more than others and then does not even provide the same benefits to everyone. A sales tax may be somewhat fair provided everyone has to pay it. But a progressive income tax is selective looting.
The government is not the best entity to do so much of these things. A defensive military to protect the rights of its people is a valid function of government. But today we are engaged in offensive and aggressive war. It is more about looting than anything else. Some people are convinced that this hatred and death are somehow in our best interests. I do not.
Education? Are you kidding? the government controlled education is only indoctrination. It teaches people to obey rather than think. I am for education which is why I oppose government run indoctrination. Functional infrastructure can be created by private industry, far better than by government politicians who have sold us all into permanent debt slavery for generations.
As I said, a collectivist would not agree with me. I understand that. But I hope this answers some of your questions.
