Manny made the show PERIOD!! They could have written him out. I agree there is more to it. Also Manny is on a new show.
His character made the show. His and Christina's characters had chemistry in their first scene together. I don't even think he was suppose to be an ongoing character in the beginning.
I agree that he carried it. That's why they couldn't write him out and they knew it. No Manny no show. Can't ask s/o to take a pay cut for doing a job they don't really like

The three leading ladies accepted paycuts to extend more grace for the budget, bringing much better and diverse sets and filming locations. I wish he had done the same because more opportunities would've surely come from bringing us another fire season...for all of them. For me, I blame the studio. They couldve taken the cuts over the cast.
@@nerdishshonrenee1600 The friends cast all stood together and demanded more or they would walk. That's how they got million per episode. They all should have asked for more
i met Manny while on set of the Good Girls and he is one of the nicest and most humble people I have ever met
I saw an interview with the female leads and what I took away from that they were none to happy about him. Christina didn't seem to like that he shorten her name to "Chris" and when she told the story, she made it seem as if he said it in a thuggish manner. The other two actresses seem to feel some kind of way about it too. Christina 's and Manny's characters had great on screen chemistry. However, I didn't get the impression that it was the same off screen. He probably used the pay cut as an excuse to make his exit. He is a very good actor. If anyone has the opportunity, watch him in Graceland. You wouldn't know it was the same person. Both characters are equally convincing.
So what though? He may be humble but if he decided not to return for the last season of Good Girls, there was no point. He had a choice not to take the pay cut.
The only reason I got into the show in the first place was because of Rio and Beth. (I didn't even begin watching it until the middle of season 4.) The chemistry and that whole thing between them got me absolutely hooked, though I was furious when she shot him! There's no way that they could have replaced Manny with his charming Rio character. I got sooo sick of Dean and his BS; the homeless character with Annie had me wanting to tear my hair out! I did love Stan and Ruby, too!
I feel like mick and Annie would be a good fit mick was strong and smart and sweet
i love how she ultimately left out that the viewership declined A LOT over the past 4 seasons. Fans stopped watching because the writing got sloppy and the show just overall felt repetitive.
That’s why I stopped watching. The show never evolved, especially for the women. They just kept getting deeper and deeper into trouble and indebted to Rio. I’m glad it’s done. Let these actors move on to better written shows.

I'm not mad at him. minorities in the actor community have had to take pay cuts for decades. He dead ass was one of the main reasons people were still watching the show so he should have been paid what he was worth.

None of them should have gotten a pay cut. He became one of the stars and I think some body or bodies did not like it. And the studio should have took a cut before any of those actors.
I watched all seasons and we were lucky if Manny had 10 minutes screen time per episode. The writing was just not good at the end and I was more excited when Manny was on screen then the main characters. But i agree that they could have easily wrote him off if he was the "only" reason. They just used him as a scapegoat and I am happy this hasn't stopped his career from growing

I don’t believe this at all, he low key made a comment about this on his podcast “PutEmUpDeux” and was mentioning how the character he played said and did the same shit every scene and he didn’t like that. Manny made the damn show. Regardless it being called “Good Girls” everybody watched for Rio AKA Manny! I don’t blame Manny tho, if you’re not comfortable in your work, move on to something better! He deserved a raise for the performance he gave in Good Girls anyway!
Yeah but he also made me watch from season 1 to 4 soooo…I mean…him and Christina and their chemistry and tension made the show without that the writing wasn’t what it used to be in the latest seasons
Rio and Beth were critical - everyone else not so much. Also, not professional to com on TV and bash a coworker.
The script became ridiculous, Dean's nonsense was never addressed he would always do something stupid that endangered everyone and then 5 minutes later it's all forgiven.
I do not see Beth and Rio getting together, but the way they could have given us more, I really so not understand why they thought 15 minutes of a quick biography of his life was the way to go.
It was rushed, and in organic it was not at all like the flash backs they did for the girls. Another giant issue is the hate for Beth, it confuses me because Rio is literally murderer their obsession with them being together or her being okay and not terrified.
I know this is fiction, however it makes me wonder how these fans would react in a real life situations because they threw logic to the wind.
I think Manny made a smart choice if it truly was his "fault" the show ended, the writing really was beginging to go nowhere.
I watched the first 2 seasons and enjoyed them. Started watching the 3rd and the story line was not up to snuff.

NO !!! If you watch the show than you know that he HAD to come back for the finale or dont even bother. Without him, myself and most everyone else would have been seriously disappointed. Anybody watch the Two and a half Men finale without Charle Sheen? Horrible. Same deal here.
Manny Montana is a looker 🔥, followed his career since Conviction, hope there was more to it but a shame that it won’t get those last eps

I really loved that show, being a stay at home mom myself this show was relatable in many ways. Very sad it won't be continued.
You just should see good girls hashtags on social media to understand what fans love and who rules the show.

Mannys character was the male lead, the antagonist, the love interest...Rio made the show and gave the others someone and a metaphorical something to play against. That said, the writing also got sloppy after season 3, so there's that.
A person who values their talent should always refuse a pay cut. Those channels have plenty of $, that’s just not acceptable. I don’t blame Manny at all!

I loved watching Manny and Annie lol but the storyline got really crazy and I stopped watching it really needed to be cancelled. Or a new focus on Rio love interest etc etc…
They were my 2 favorite characters , as well.

The first series was fantastic and it just went downhill after that. Never made any sense and was completely pointless, so whoever it was that refused to do it, did us all a big favour. The only good think from series 2 onwards was spotting the editing mistakes with Annie's hair - it literally changed colour, lenght and style between each shot
Annie's hair and Beth's footwear! Beth is wearing black pumps on the front porch at Rio's grandmother's house and black clogs when we see her walking into the back yard; in the episode where Rio beats the crap out of Dean, she goes from black pumps to short black booties in that scene.
That was my show!!
Manny is part of the show and if they dont want things to go certain way they have to figure it out instead of blaming on him. But at the end we dont know what happened you know

They couldn’t write off rio, he made the whole show last as long as it did. That is a damn fact. Plus the writing got sloppy, same annoying little sister doing the same stuff, deen being deen never got to hold any accountability, beth and rio should’ve hooked up more honestly it made the show juicy but instead the show felt repetitive and got boring.
I watched the show and it ran out anyway so I can see why it wasn’t worth negotiating any further. I was super sick of Manny’s character so I don’t know that an abbreviated last season would’ve helped the story line make any better sense.
I love the show and would've loved a fifth season. Honestly they could've found a way to get rid of Rio that would've made sense. I'm disappointed that it won't be back. Maybe they can do a Netflix movie that'll wrap up the story, I'd watch it.
I watched this show for Beth and rio. The writers got lazy and odd but THEIR SCENES!!! I could watch the show with nothing but their story line. I’d like the other characters if they have them a better story in the last two seasons but I really did love this show. Manny has this intoxicating thing about him but his looks and certain things he would say made me fall in love. So toxic lol

Manny Montana put the "Good" in "Good Girls! The show wouldn't have spanned 4 seasons without his character "Rio"! Why should he have taken a pay cut when he was the main draw? Yes, I am fan-girling a bit here, but damn! Manny is so fine! 😂❤

His charter is s main charter and without him the story end. The girls are trying go legit but the keep getting pulled back by What's his name.

No one really cared abt Dean's role except seeing him feeling hurt n jealous about his wife and Rio. Payback for the hurt he made her feel.😊

Manny's character alone didn't make the show; however, the on screen chemistry between the characters of Beth and Rio was a large contributing factor. If what I read is correct, Rio wasn't supposed to be an ongoing character. The show creator and writers weren't able to adapt because the vision for the show was completely different, and that's why the scripts were horrible after the first season. I basically only looked at the scenes that had Rio in them.

Rio was crucial to the show. I loved it and hated to see it end but I don’t think it would have worked without him. So I’m irked his (Manny) ego apparently got in the way.
As Retta said, one person ruined it for everyone. I got bored with the Manny & Beth anyway, given too many chances and too repetitive. Should have replaced him or wrote him off the show. Little man trying to act tough. That was laughable to me. Anybody could have played Manny's part. Actors are for entertainment purposes only. Let's move on....
Honestly if you haven’t watched the show, you can’t speak to any of the decisions being made. Manny’s character was the main catalyst that kept these “Good Girls” from doing good things. Sure there were other factors, but he was the main thing and without his presence the true menace would be gone. It’s time for the show to come to a close. And if the main 3 characters were willing to take a cut - Manny got waaaay to full of himself and I hope (rightfully, so) lost some fans because of it.
Manny is hot he knows hes hot and he took the show away from the fans plus he is the main antagonist. Sloppy writing or not it did not end the way it needed to end. Just because hes hot or nice in person doesn't make him somebody good to work with. And from the limited info we are getting he will look out for himself only and make little sacrifice for the project which may affect him in the long run . the volatile relationship between him and Christina Hendrix made for great chemistry onset and as a fan of the show its really upsetting that one person very likely him ruined the whole thing.
They probably could've replaced him with Manny Jacinto the guy who plays Jason mendoza on The Good Place.
I personally didn't enjoy his character that much so I would have still been happy to watch without him.

I never read that, but that doesn't make it not true. However, based on the things that I have seen when he wasn't acting, he seems to be very down to earth. I've seen him on his brother's podcast talking about various things. He also did podcasts with a friend discussing boxers and boxing.
I find that very difficult to believe given that the only people who have bad mouth him in public were those 3 women...

@@jonbanks653 naw...he has worked on several shows so if he was difficult more than 3 people would have said it by now. Sometimes people just don't gel...doesn't mean anyone is difficult. Plus has Retta and Mae ever said anything about Manny besides about the ending of the show? I mean if the person who is carrying a show that he isn't really having fun doing can you really be mad about him not wanting a pay cut?? I mean who wants a pay cut period much less for doing a job you don't really like?
