How to make concrete planters - skull

- Hopefully you can take away how to make them from this. I figured out a lot that you should and shouldn't do in order to make your perfect concrete planter.

Be sure and use a stronger cardboard than cereal and also make sure those joint are sealed tight with duct tape!
also I used about 9 cups or cement or mortar mix to fill it up

if you want it to not sag as much you could also place the taped cardboard mold into a bucket of sand making sure that the top is still visible above the sand in the bucket and fill it while it's in the sand. that way the sand can support all the joints

I've seen a similar project but I think this way would probably be cheaper because you're not using as much materials.
The other way I've seen to do this is by starting with a wood block and cutting/sanding it down into the desired shape. Then you use that silicone mold stuff to make a mold from the wood, then you fill the mold with concrete. I feel like that would be a bit easier except for having to shape the wood, and I'm not really sure what else you could substitute that for. The advantage to that of course would be being able to make more copies of it, but you wouldn't be able to make as complex of a shape depending on your wood working skills.
But your way is definitely a better alternative as far as material costs and woodworking skills are concerned.
You could possibly combine these two ways by making the cereal box shape (possibly spraying it with some kind of cheap lacquer to fill any gaps? idk), making a mold from that, and then filling the mold with concrete. Not sure, but still a great video!

Fun fact the song being played towards the end is a remix of the song Breezeblocks and Breezeblocks is another word for cinder bricks. Very thematic since he used what's makes bricks for his skulls.

Timeless and awesome! I loved this since the video came out but I wasn’t able to make it since I was studying abroad. Now I’m back to my own place and I really want to make some cute planters, however since google plus is gone, is there another way to get the skull cutouts for the mold?
This is great. I need more skulls for the house anyway. Maybe thick cardboard would be sturdy enough with a lot of duct tape holding it together.

You can make a silicone mold of the skull and then pour the mortar, no cracks to fix
