The tiny Italian island of Lampedusa usually has a population of about 6,000. Lampedusa saw its population double after about 7,000 migrants landed there within 24 hours. The migrants were mostly from Africa. They were fleeing instability on the continent.
This year Italy has already seen about double the number of migrants compared to the same time last year. As more crises affect Africa, the number of migrants to Europe is likely to increase. Palki Sharma tells you more.

Hello dear Italian friend, I am from Slovakia we are having massive problems with these people too. Immigrants everywhere and Im not even talking to an enormous gypsy-roma problem we have. Those are also migrants who came centuries ago and never assimilated. They have also insane birthrate and it costs insane amount of money to maintain them. These gypsy settlers also came from Italy but you have kicked them out and they migrated towards us. Now the new migrants are coming via Ukraine, Hungary, Turkey, Serbia.... it's an invasion pure and simple. I am now reading on Indian news and others sources that these new migrants coming from Africa are actually organised by Tunisia, Morocco and Libya. Its sad and frightening. I just been to Hamburg and Berlin and I felt really unsafe. I live in London now and Ive known and met lots of Indians, they are nice, respectful of laws, assimilate and integrate well with the host country as well as other Asians from Southeast Asia and East Asia.

Morally it's a dilemma though. We need to help those victims of war or discrimination, but we can't allow economic refugees. We can not absorb the world's problems.

Immigration should happen with people holding valid passports and visas. Make visas easier, scrutinize people and take them on merit. Fair enough. Allowing boat load of people will not help furnish a nursing home better. This is nothing short of an invasion. What will you do if 100 boats land in italy everyday? Also, why should european tax payers suffer?
Most of these people are fleeing poverty and tribal wars in Africa. This cannot become europe's problem. Moreover, these immigrants will start seeking implementation of sharia law once they settle in. If you are from belgium you would know better.
