  • We take our V8 swapped Toyota up a mountain covered in deep snow, putting its power and off-road capabilities to the test. With our trusty 1UZ V8 engine under the hood, we tackle the snow-covered terrain, pushing our vehicle to its limits and having a blast in the process.
    As we navigate through the snowdrifts, you'll see our Toyota Pickup in action. We'll encounter challenging terrain, steep inclines, and tricky obstacles, all while battling the elements and the freezing temperatures.

    I did sandwiches in my semi truck. A buddy of mine would drop a can of beans down a stack.
    No problem working on a oil drilling site dismantling a drilling rig when it was lunch time he would stomp on the throttle a few times and the can of beans would fly out nice and hot. One day just before lunch it was very muddy and it was difficult to move the trucks around. It was tacking more and more throttle. WELL....
    Suddenly a big bang ! It started raining beans. And then a can hit the ground. There was a lot of "what the hell". The boss had warned my buddy and he knew what it was and when I looked at the boss his head was hanging and shaking side to side! That's when he called lunch!

    We meet up on the side of the highway heading up into the mountains in Colorado. Sometimes we meet at gas stations at the bottom of the front range to convey up. We always break out the radios there and roll up to the high country.

    I'm starting to love snow wheeling! Problem is I always wheel alone. I definitely learned the value in airing down the other day though. I'm on 33s and usually air down to 17. I took a trail going down that hadn't been driven on all winter and got to a point where my tires were just spinning. Backed up a couple feet, aired down to 12 psi and plowed right through a couple feet of snow for about a quarter mile. It kept me on top of the snow. I was so happy I got out without having to winch all the way out!

      Snow wheeling isn't a solo game that is for sure! The more you air down it feels like cheat codes haha

      If you are on a 15in rim you could easily go down to 8psi. I was on load range C on 32x11.5r15s and would air down to 4 with no issues

    The old square body K5 chassis married to a toyota body worked exceptionally well back in the day, it was easy to swap to 1 ton axles after you started breaking stuff.

    I have 35in tires 4.88 gears and a 4.7 single case with 22re motor Is the single case 4.7 too low for snow wheeling i never been in snow and cant get any definite answers appreciate any info from dirt garage you guys are certified snow wheelers

    • @DirtGarage
      @DirtGarage  Рік тому +1

      I was in 4.7 the whole day, and Skylers first gen is also 4.7, no such thing as to low for snow. Trevor in the blue 4Runner really wanted lower gears. Especially as we got higher the slower we had to go to stay ontop, I had both 4.7 and 2.28 engaged to keep moving forward.

    • @DirtGarage
      @DirtGarage  Рік тому

      @@nateball10 I've considered it, and that's still pushing it. Plus 37s is plenty for a all year tire with good highway characteristics. The Taco we have in the works will be on tons and 40s though.

      I get it I daily a second gen 84 but 22re swapped it built it 0.50 over and re sealed the whole motor 5.29s and 35s rear disc break swapped it which I kinda regret because I don’t have e brake now because stupid trail gear but I wanna 2rz swap it on low boost kit on links and Toyota 60 axles I don’t wanna do straight tons because it will be so wide and I wanna daily it still they are getting hard to find over here for a good price so a good toy 60 setup on 40s and interior cage is mint
