    I love the playful back and forth between you and your husband. I'm a minimalist (OCD?) by nature and subscribe by the mantra of small and elegant as opposed to big and gaudy. You have a winner there with your Airstream. Your "layperson's" reviews and experiences are refreshing. Keep it up and all the best.

    I’m a contractor n to be honest it’s not about the quality u need to remember it’s not like a house which is stationary this van is constantly torquing n twisting down the road I have a work van similar to yours n I have steel shelving which is totally solid n there r squeaks those cabinets r made of mdf or particle board and paneling n other products even if u had steel cabinets which wood be the toughest it would still make noise if u can get rid of the noise that’s great RVs need to be taken with a grain of salt, also plumbing doesn’t do great when it moves , I believe even if u bought an Rv for million dollars there will still be issues just my thoughts great vids keep on camping

      Totally agreed! It is a home on wheels so impossible for the built to be without problems. Knowing this we are able to adjust our expectations and take care of the problems as they arise. Just wish that Airstream would have better quality controls so buyers have a good experience when picking up the vans. 🤗

      Oh so sorry about the black tank leak. I know, yuck! Lol
      It took about 2 months for the dealer to get the black tank replacement. After they did the diagnosis in a week, I asked if I could just take our van and not use the toilet while waiting for the replacement part and the technician put everything back for us to pick it up. We used the commode liner for the toilet at night time when we went camping and just used public restroom during the day time.

      Hi Ross, thank you for watching. I am glad you found the videos helpful in your decision of purchasing the AI19. Here is the link for the Houghton AC. Since it is bigger than the existing Dometic AC, Airstream tech had to move the back solar panel further back and the antenna out toward the side a little but my husband said the AC does overlap the back solar panel a tiny bit so he thinks that decreases the efficiency of that panel. Hi, thank you for watching. 🤗We bought th AC at RecPro website www.recpro.com/rv-air-conditioner-low-profile-13-5k-quiet-ac-with-heat-pump-remote-non-ducted/
      The installation was at our Airstream dealer. At first they quoted $700 but when they received the new AC they said it was a more complicated install since they haven’t swapped the original out before. So they charged us $1100. Other people in Seattle had theirs installed with Airstream dealer also but just for around $700.

    After owning two 4x4 Grand Tour Airstreams (2017 and 2020), we decided to switch to Grech RV which we’ll receive in a few weeks. Have you guys looked into Grech? They are manufactured in California.

    • @BamBamRVAdventures

      Grech RV is beautiful! When we were looking they only had 24’ length which is too long for me to drive but I know they just came out with the 19’ version. The love the clean look on the outside

    • @titomesserli26
      @titomesserli26 Рік тому

      @@BamBamRVAdventures Grech also has a 22’ model, the Terreno, which is actually 23’ bumper to bumper. We own a 2011 Airstream 27FB travel trailer and wanted an interstate also. But, when we discovered the Grech, specifically the Terreno-Ion (Tour), we picked one up this past August. We are kind of Airstream snobs and really wanted an interstate but the 24’ was too long, the 19’ was too short, and to get the equivalent of the Grech Ion models, I.e., no propane, no generator but with 1260 ah of battery power, which is the E1 Airstream option, we’d have to wait a year and pay 24K more for that option on an already much more expensive van. Thus, the Grech. We love it so far, and still love our Airstream. Oh yeah, they now also offer the Terreno with 4x4 wheel drive, ours is 2 wheel drive

    I think your videos are highly informative and crisply produced! I have the opportunity to place a deposit on a 2023 Interstate 19 4x4 with the E1 package. It would be delivered in March/April ‘23. My concern is that since the new Sprinter platform (twin turbo 4-cyl, 9-speed transmission, AWD) will be adopted by Airstream later next year or early in 2024, it would likely accelerate the depreciation of the current 6-cyl, 7-speed, 4WD platform. What are your thoughts on that? If you were in my position, given your experiences with the current chassis, what would you do? Buy the current platform since it is tried and true or wait for the new one? Some Mercedes cars already are built on the new platform but there is a huge weight difference with the Sprinter and the efficiency and reliability of AWD can be impacted by that. Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

    • @BamBamRVAdventures
      @BamBamRVAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Hi Gene, thank you for watching! I like the E1 package for 2023 and I don’t really know much about the chassis so I will have my husband chime in later. 🤗

    • @BamBamRVAdventures
      @BamBamRVAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Hi Gene, this is Vincent, Darlene's husband.
      This is just my personal opinion and I may be dead wrong on this. Personally, for me, when it comes to engines, size MATTERS. Maybe I am old school, but I would much prefer the current V-6 turbo than the new twin-turbo 4 cyl. I know the hp and torque numbers are almost same, but again, squeezing the same hp and torque from a smaller 4 cyl...there has to be some compromise somewhere.....maybe durability? I know that 9-speed gearing plays a major role in achieving these numbers, so there is that to consider.
      As for the AWD vs. 4wd, I hear that the AWD is much more modern than the decades old 4wd design. In our current 4wd, you have to engage it, and there is a specific procedure for doing it. We do not do any serious road climbing, so we really do not need 4wd or AWD, but we love the fact that it is about 4 inches higher than the 2wd version. In our last RV, which was based on the Promaster, we were always concerned our black tank would be damaged if we hit something while driving onto an unpaved campground.
      So for me, if we were buying a new Airstream, I think I would still prefer our current version, mainly because I prefer to have this 4 +ton vehicle be driven with the biggest engine I can get. Thank you for watching our videos! We really appreciate your comments. Good luck with whatever you choose, Gene; but I think that whichever version you choose, you will be fine. I think the E1 package, while expensive is a "must have" if I was ordering a new Airstream, so I think that is a good decision.

    • @genegoldman547
      @genegoldman547 Рік тому +1

      Thank you both for your replies. I agree on the need for some system other than 2WD. When we lived in Arizona the saying was 4WD was a necessity on two days - the day you buy it and the day you sell it. But I agree that the ground clearance factor is important and now that we live in the Northeast, snow and ice storms can creep up on you rather quickly so having the 4WD or AWD capability while out driving is reassuring. We have 4Matic on both our Mercedes and it has never failed us. So I will most likely go with the 4WD version from the factory for the reasons you listed. Thanks again!

    • @BamBamRVAdventures
      @BamBamRVAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Hi Bill, the main reason we chose the 19 over the 24GT is the ease of parking and driving. It’s more difficult to make a turn with a longer van I assume. The longest vehicle I have ever driven was the Expedition so I am not comfortable with driving a long van. My brother on the other hand is very good at maneuvering and backing up his 24GT since he had big truck and towed a boat before. He did mentioned that it’s harder to make a U turn at some intersections and getting out of some gas stations with a dip since the back part of his van came very close to the street level and almost hit the bottom.
