Absolutely thrilled with my choice of the DJI Mic2, thanks to its seamless Bluetooth connectivity with the Pocket 3! The sound quality from DJI is just impeccable - crisp, and richly detailed, making it the perfect companion for my vlog shoots. Couldn't be happier!
By far... the BEST overview video on the DJI Pocket 3 on UA-cam 👍🏾 hands down. Excellent way you go "STRAIGHT" to the point, where you cover ALL important concerns a person would have when purchasing the DJI Pocket 3. Keep up the good work👏🏾
I use the tracking feature because I want to walk without having to look at the screen. My panning speed is set to low. I am using the timelapse feature a lot. (so easy to use) Never use the wide angle .... but I do use a circular polarizing filter.
I haven't used the wide-angle filter much because I haven't seen any benefit. The only time I use the black mist filter is at night because I like how it makes lights look. I do use the active track for walking shots and to track myself going by when hiking or biking. So far I love the Osmo Pocket 3 because it is easy to use, small, and compact. It has allowed me to postpone purchasing a full-frame camera and continue to use my Canon 80D for photography while hiking. The 1080P video is a bit obsolete and the Osmo Pocket 3 allows me to video at 4K for a fraction of the cost. Using it with my iPhone 12 Pro, DJI Mavic Air 2, and GoPro Hero 10 Black, it takes care of my video needs. Yes, I try to use my cameras as long as possible because I can't keep purchasing the latest and greatest technology. The next camera I am considering investing in is the Insta 360 X4 because that video is awesome.
I have the Insta360 X3 and think it has its place for getting unique shots. I especially love using it for action sequences because you can choose your framing in post production.
Fantastic video, by far the best I've seen explaining all the ways to use a Pocket 3. Too many other videos only showcase it's features while in Talking Head mode.
I don't like the tracking feature when the camera is on a tripod. It seems too jumpy like you said and it's not good for the viewer. I do use it when vlogging though and I'm moving because I can be more in the moment interacting with people around me and not worry if I stay in frame.
Same on the wide angle lens, I don't really like the fisheye look. I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the footage in low-light settings. Thank you for another great video!
From my understanding, it is not waterproof, but can it handle rain? I am looking to start documenting my travels, and am very interested in this as a main camera for its capabilities and size, but need it to be able to withstand rain. If not, would you recommend the GoPro Hero 12 Black or the Insta360 Ace Pro as a better choice for a main travel vlogging camera? I mostly one bag travel, so space and simplicity are a premium. Thank you.
Thanks for your review... im about to buy this for my youtube channel to do vlogging and some of my property videos and your review has come in handy :)
Why did DJI increase the slowest shutter speed to 1 second from when the pocket2 had 8 seconds? Could it be possible with firmware update for the Pocket3 to have 25 seconds shutter speed?
Thanks for the great video! For your overhead project shots, is there a way to tilt the screen down so you could see what you’re filming if you were sitting down, or would you always have to stand up and hover over the camera to look at the screen?
Would it work well for interview type videos? I want to sit down with people and do interviews as well as vloggin and just want one multi-purpose camera.
I started to use the face tracking because when sometimes I changed to selfie mode my face didn't be ok on the frame. And when I wanted to talk things without looking to the camera and then I couldn't check if my face was in the frame resulting in crazy random shots only seeing parts of my head.
My Osmo Pocket 3 started having issues with the Depth of Focus/Field. I've checked the PRO settings and have configured it to either Single, Continuous, & Product Showcase, but the shot stays blurry in all three modes. I tried tapping on the subject on the screen but it stays blurry. I have to angle my OP3 upwards then slowly bring it down to shoot a clear video, but after a few seconds, it gets blurry again. I tried resetting my OP3 back to Factory Settings, but the problem still persists. Love the cam, but this blurry issue is so frustrating! Any assistance to this matter would be absolutely helpful!
Great video as always, yes the tracking is jumpy, perhaps you should have also mentioned the annoying laggy screen popups to say the mic is connected, and the fact the mic times out and switches off without any Warning.
I haven’t had the mic trimming out and switching off problem, but I agree that the mic connection confirmation screen stays up a bit longer than it should.
Hey Mam, thanks for this update on the DJI Pocket 3! I'm a big fan of the talking head videos you film, and it's great to know your settings for them. Pocket 3 is a cool camera for vloggers
I don't use the tracking features or the wide angle lens much either. I love the image quality and low light capabilities of the camera. Great six month review of the Pocket 3. Thanks for sharing.
Its a great little camera, like you i dont use the wide angle lens , i do use a lightstand for it , not the same one but the principle is the same. I do use the tracking feature when i want to video myself moving through a scene. As my channel is around landscape photography i find this feature really handy as a solo creator. I also use the freewell variable nd/mist filters for the 180 degree rule and have always shot in log format . Not really tested the normal colour profile but i am happy with the log footage i seem to get, i am no expert but it certainly covers all my needs !
I meant to add that I appreciate your lighting when talking to camera. Too many video influences have their faces in deep shadow showing they've not learnt a thing about video work.
Brilliant tips, very helpful, thank you, yes I do use the tracking, I do find it useful when moving around, but it depends on what I am shooting. Have a good trip to France...
Great ideas. I actually like the tracking mode. If used with planning, I think it works well for narrative work. If you move around quickly, the tracking may stand out. But, I think it's good enough to use to track you walking by the camera or following you around a room. As long as you're NOT running and jumping around, I think the tracking is useable.
Hello, I Am planning to buy DJI Pocket 3 for fliming my dance class routine. Thinking of placing it infant of the room on the ground with no accessories. Firstly Will it stand okay with no tripod style stand ? Secondly can it record okay with like 10 people dancing in the studio ( thinking of face tracking aspect) and studio lighting. Many suggestions are greatly appreciated. Subbed you . Thanks.
You’ll definitely want some kind of stand or tripod to keep it stable in the middle of the room. Hard to say if it can handle the lighting, because it depends on your lights and room, but generally speaking it does great in low light.
Hi! Have you found a solution for the horrific stutter/jitter while panning? I use 30fps with 180 shuttle rule and know I can't pan to fast but you need to pan ultra slow not to get it. 😩
Nice video as always. I just uploaded a video testing my OP3 with black mist together with ND filter. I like the results, looks very cinematic but the problem is that the camera becomes gimmick to use. I alway needed to set the manual configurations. I will travel with my family this week and I will record this trip using the OP3 but I'm in doubt if I use ND filters with with shutter rule for montion blur or just set everyting in auto (excluding picture profile, I'll set D-LOG M). What do you suggest ? Use ND filter or not ? and if possible why ? Thank you
I shoot everything on auto and D-log M and don’t bother with ND filters. IMO the quality is good enough, and this gives me the headspace to focus on creativity and the actual filming of videos rather than fussing with settings and accessories.
@@Gemini_Connect Thank you for your answer. I totaly agree with you about ND filters. looks good but you miss too much time setting than recording recording. For this trip I'll record everything in auto. Other question, when you recordo your family, travels, day by day at home, how do you do with the files? O create a video like vlog and post in one place or just archive the files?
The tracking feature is why I bought the pocket 3, unfortunately it’s been a hit or miss especially if you place the camera on a lower level like below the waistline. It has to be placed close to shoulder height in order for it to work properly. Despite that though just one quick movement and it just keeps failing to track my face. I hope they update the face tracking to body tracking instead.
Thanks for the cool videos. I was wondering how you handle the color grading when you combine the P3 videos with the iPhone vids. I used it on my first travel vids but stopped shooting in D-LogM because I found the color grading of each individual clip to be tedious, and using the Adjustment Layer (in Final Cut Pro) to be annoying and not worth it. Do you have a good workflow or hack that makes this work better? I also live in the Seattle Area and find that one of the biggest impediments to using the P3 exclusively is the rain. Also, I don't use the wide angle very much because I keep forgetting to take it off when I turn the camera off and have almost lost it several times.
I also live in Seattle and have found the rain to be an issue with the P3, but luckily our awesome summer weather is just around the corner! But because of weather, I do roll with an iPhone and action camera when traveling so I can push the weather limits. Lately, I shoot the P3 in d-log and the iPhone in normal color, or sometimes I’ll shoot in Apple log, but usually this takes up too much space on my phone. I find this makes it easier to match colors in post.
I bought this camera recently, and did a shoot and found that with tracking off, my focus on my face (about half body shot, so not too far away) kept jumping to the background and back. I do think I was a little backlit, but I'm thinking of returning it due to this. Have you seen this?
Does it happen regularly, or was it just that one time? I’d test it out in a variety of lighting situations and also check if you’re in continuous, single focus, or product showcase mode.
@@Gemini_Connect It happened across a couple shots in this same day. I haven't done any major shooting since then, but also don't want to go past my 30 day return period. I think it was in continuous and I wasn't moving much.
Good question. Personally, I don’t use ND filters. They’re great if you want to shoot in “cinematic” settings, but I typically leave everything on auto.
@@Gemini_Connect yeah, been using it for couple years. I had trouble with bunch of files. Dlog. But may of been cos I shot in hevc too. I'll try d log but not hevc and see how I get on. Guess like me you're now looking at the new insta go 3S ? This game costing me fortunes lol
Great video, but the zoom is terrible. I film in 2 K but may switch to 4 K. There is no black mist or wide-angle attachment. I need to practice because I get a lot of noise in my shots (blacks). I use this to supplement my products, from wide establishing shots to last-minute b-rolls. I mixed it with pro-level cameras. It is okay for quick clips, but not too much. An entire piece with the camera is great.
For me, the best way to get familiar with the gimbal modes was to test them out for myself. I like tilt lock because it keeps the horizon level, but then the camera doesn’t move up and down. So if I want it to follow where I’m pointing it, I use the pan follow mode.
@Gemini_Connect yes I felt the same ...tilt lock was good for vlogging but when you read the little comments in the p3 they say to use the other mode for vlogging so I was confused
One of your more recent videos was why you don’t use the Pocket 3 for most of your walking and talking videos, but rather the OA4 (your choice) or the GP12 (your partner”s preference). ua-cam.com/video/Sw6d6uljeT8/v-deo.htmlsi=WgmsUDoAOKZym0dR As such, curious what changed for you. I do tend to prefer the OA4 when the background is just as important as the person. Both are of course great. As you noted, AF can bounce a bit on the OP3, but usually fine. Another well done video!
I don’t use the wide angle adapter much either, but I love the tracking feature. It’s one of the main reasons I bought this camera. Since I shoot alone it allows me to get more interesting and dynamic shots in my videos, without a camera man. The Mic is also brilliant.
That magnet isn’t super strong for the wide angle lens. In fact, it fell off while I was shooting content on a beach in Rio. I had to reorder another one. 😡
Bummer! I’m sorry to hear that. I used the black mist filter a lot for the first few months and found the attachment to be pretty strong. But the wide angle filter is a lot thicker.
The thing that I dislike about this camera is that it has to blur the background when you are filing yourself and vlogging. It does not let you pit the whole video in focus , most likely due to its large sensor .
I’ve been using the Pocket 3 as the main camera on my channel for the last few videos and I use the tracking a lot. It’s excellent and has enabled me to carry on with the same style of presentation that I had previously when I used my iPhone in the DJI gimbal - with tracking. The other advantage is that it eliminates the focus hunting - which is a slightly annoying issue with the Pocket 3.
Hi, there is a new firmware update (01.04.08.01) with a new Gimbal mode added FPV- _I_. Could you kindly check and brief about this update. Thank you! Appreciate all your videos.
I sure do like coming here for your tips and reviews. You never seem like you're trying to set a landspeed record for how much content you can jam into 3 minutes. 😅 You are relaxed, you articulate very well - with a very pleasant voice, I might add. Thank you for this video. I've had my OP3 for 2 + months now. I love this little thing. 🤙
I use it for workout videos. For example, it does a great job of tracking me while I’m running on the track.

You may want to try the black mist 1/8. It is much better. The one from DJI is 1/4 and it is too strong.
Where did you find the Black Mist 1/8?
@@Gemini_Connect K & F Concept black diffusion 1/8.
Hi, there is a new firmware update (01.04.08.01) with a new Gimbal mode added FPV- _I_. Could you kindly check and brief about this update. Thank you! Appreciate all your videos.
Thanks for the notice! I’ll check it out.
Great Video. My Channel next year will have traditional Puppets and I am really looking forward to using the tracking feature with them. 😎
Completely agree about the tracking. I wish DJI would update the firmware to allow for tracking sensitivity/speed adjustment.
I wish I had bought the creator pack 😢
It’s the best buy for sure
anybody's having heating issue with this camera??
Starting Thursday its going to be hot.
Great video!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Very helpful, thank you!
The tall tripod you use is not MT-47. I think you type wrong.
