This is such a neat tune! It's quite funky with the accidental in there, nodding to an a-harmonic minor / b-harmonic minor scale for some parts, but it's a tune in dm / em, depending on which version you want to learn. It seems to be a fairly popular tune in Colorado -- most sessions I've played at have had at least a few people recognize the tune and play along.
I hope you are well and staying healthy during the pandemic! So much has been happening in the news lately, it's definitely a lot to process... I live alone and feel like I've gone a little crazy from the isolation, but things have generally been okay. I keep telling myself that all of this covid stuff is temporary (even if it lasts a year or two, it's still temporary!). I think I can get through anything if I convince myself that it's a temporary situation.... I think I just need to focus on other things -- thinking too much about everything just makes me become more upset. It amazes me how the lockdown has really highlighted how social humans actually are! I'm a massive introvert and feel like I'm having a difficult time with this -- but I really feel badly for the extroverts who are also alone right now...they are probably experiencing even more hardship... =( Just know that you are not alone with feeling alone -- lots of people are feeling this way. For some reason, I feel a tiny bit of comfort in the idea that other people feel like this, too, and that it's a normal feeling for the current circumstances. It's hard, but normal... Everyone is experiencing difficulties with the lockdown in varying ways. I'm not sure why I'm writing about this in a tutorial video. I guess I'm just ranting... Things will get better soon!! =)
Thank you for watching, and I hope you have a good rest of the week! Happy Practicing, and stay healthy!! =)
~ Katy

Thanks for sharing your wonderful knowledge 👍👏👏✌🏻🆒
You are my virtual violin teacher. I'm grateful to you for everything. Thank you very much for the very good videos. I wish you all the best! :-D
Dear Katy its a beautiful video, as beautiful as all the previous ones. Thanks! Be fine!
Thank you for this video, but not only: it was your interpretation of Tam Lin that made me want to get serious about the violin, and I return to see it from time to time to re-boost myself. The isolation of COVID allowed me to progress, this dirt will have been used for that. Believe me: playing music will always support us, I'm now old enough to know that. Thank you for enriching the community and take care of yourself, you are a "rayon de soleil".
Lovely. I don't know many English tunes but I used to have a Kirkpatrick album with this tune and a number of excellent pieces from Playford.
I just read all your accompanying thoughts and want you to know that your tutorials and videos really make this isolation much more fun! I think you're such a lovely person and hope you know lots of people care about you out here in pandemic land. Once we can get together in session again, your tutorials will have added to our repertoire! And I hope you continue to be safe and well!
Fantastic, thank you. You inspired me to play the violin again.
Thank you! You are amazing! Great music. 👏👏👏👏👏😊🎻🎼🎵🎶
Great filming with the two views.
I love your tutorials! Thank you so much for sharing them!
You're an awesome teacher. Thanks for this! Really helpful.
Amazing. Great instructional video. Thanks for posting it. Wonderful job!
Just came across your music today. Love this tune. We play it in a Contra Dance set in Em. Easy for my friend and her Hammer Dulcimer.. looking at your list here we know many of the same tunes. Nice music.
I learned this on a 12-string guitar using your exact fiddle arrangement in Dm. Very difficult for me to learn mechanically, but I get compliments on the tune when I am able to play it correctly as taught here. (Except on guitar!)
VERY VERY COOL!!!!
Excellent.
Katy, you are amazing...always a pleasure to listen to. It is an unusual song, but fun
Thank you so much! It's a quirky tune, but I really like it.
@@KatyAdelson don't play the violin, but trying to adapt it to guitar :o)
I like the tune but don't play an instrument but enjoyed your rendition Katy so thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing. Great music.
Thank you - glad you like it!
Well done! With it's strange minor scales (slow tempo), maybe Gomez and Morticia of the Adams family would be proud. lol :))
I thought it had a very Addams family-ish sound as well. Good show, old man!
spot on lesson thanks
Thanks for making this tutorial. I've been trying to learn this for some time. I'm sure your expert tuition will help.
Thank you! Been wanting to learn this funky tune and you made it so easy!
I just saw this. i like John Kirkpatricks squeezebox playing. I will try learning this over the weekend. Gosh, you are the cutest teacher and I like how you do the count off lead-ins for the practice.I enjoy your other videos a lot! Thanks for the tutorial!
Yeah thanks. Love your music!!!!
Glad you enjoy it! :)
Beautiful playing.
Thanks for listening!
OMG, I LOVE Jump at the Sun! This sounded awesome here. :D

Awesome job katy
Thank you, Dave!! :)
Great tune. Above my current skill level, but definitely something I plan on learning. Thanks
You can do it!! It's tricky, but repeats a lot and is kind of arpeggio-y, so I think it's not as hard as it might sound. =)
Katy Adelson Hello Katy. This tune is often used by “Border Morris Dance Teams , over here on this side of the pond, at a skipping pace 😊. (at 40 minutes is about right ....depends how agile the dancers are !! )
“As the Sun was setting was Setting” is also a great tune which I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
I'm from twoset community, and I would like to play some fiddle tunes! Thus here i AM!
Thanks for uploading the tutorial, if you could upload the glass island and wizard's walk tutorial when you can. I love all the songs you play!! Saludos 🤗
Thanks Analia!! I have already created tutorial videos for those two other tunes. =) I have them listed in my tutorials playlist: m.ua-cam.com/play/PLVbYbn_Qo3VzdDozHLEXe_PLR1a0EZa-r.html
@@KatyAdelson Gracias!! 😄😙
Your playing is awesome. I know it's been a while since you've done video game sound tracks but I think it'd be super cool to do some kind of version of "Lost Woods" from The Ocarina of Time. If not, oh well but, if I wanted to hear it from anyone, it'd be you. Keep up the fantastic work, you're the best. Much love from Kansas.
Listening and watching you Mrs.Katy,I'm falling and falling in love.
can you teach us "The Squirrel Hunters"??😍🥰 please I love the way you are teachin all this song and ims so greatfull!
💖💕💓💞💝👍👍👍very bytifyl

Listening and watching you Katy, I'm falling and falling in love.

The Portland Collection has it in Gm
Hi Katy, I've been watching for a few years, first enjoying your wonderful music videos and lately the tutorials. I'm missing something on this one. At the beginning I see and hear a slide of your 2nd finger after the F natural, but it looks like your are playing an open A. What are you sliding to?
I think you are hearing me start sliding to the upcoming G#. I think I start sliding while playing the open A -- I've never noticed that I do that! :o I still play the G# with a 3rd finger, though...
Hola!
@@KatyAdelson yeah, if you could I can too 💪 thanks for the encouragement!!! 🤗 hahahah actually I'm using google translator to write to you so don't worry xdd. The 3 songs that you put in the video that you visited UK I learned all of them, I loved them and with the video it was great. I just lack speed and some small thing with the bow, so I have to practice, practice and practice 😧😅😆
I’ve really gotta work on my left hand.
Ууу какая ты хорошенькая
Your music is so enjoyable and I’m hard of hearing.
I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. They have helped me learn lots of tunes. I do want to respectfully request that you not use a metronome. It is more distracting than helpful.
Are you racist?
What?
I was just asking .
Get out of here with your negativity. your not welcomed.
I'm not sure how this video might be seen as racist, but it wasn't meant to be racist, and I aim to think of us all as equals....
Sorry for writing the bad rep to you
