- Welcome to my latest video, where we'll be showing you the amazing process of capturing a stunning timelapse of the day turning into the Milky Way. This technique is a beautiful way to showcase the transition from day's light to night's darkness, and the galaxy above.

Outstanding work 🎉
Thank you ☺️
That was absolutely amazing 👏
Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing! 😍🌌
Thank you! ☺️
Being a Canon user I've found using the magic lantern software works well with the ettr feature and intervalember works well for me a usb-c power bank of 20000mha keeps camera going all night
Que pasada Mattia!!!!! Brutal!!
Muchas Gracias!! 😊🙏
Greet job, Mattia!
Thank you! ☺️
Mate the result is so so good! 😍
Thank you so much mate!! 😊
Smooth!
Thank you! 🥰
Great shot bro. 👏🏻
Thank you ☺️
Increíble time lapse Mattia! Gracias siempre por compartir conocimiento además. Saludos desde Costa Rica!
Muchísimas gracias! 😊🙏
Magnífico trabajo y muy bien explicado. Muchas gracias por compartir
Muchas Gracias Alfonso! Me alegra mucho que te haya gustado! :)
Really nice timelapse. The light polution even made it a bit better I think 🙂
Thank you! Indeed, it gave a nice light in the foreground! 😊
The results of this day to milkway timelapse came out so beautifully! Here's a question for you. Because you're shooting in manual mode how do you avoid jumps of frames in your shot? I know your interval is pretty high so it gives you enough time to adjust your settings but I always find when I do manual mode, there's always that 1 or 2 frame jump... also I know you mentioned that you had a 27 second interval, is that because your shutter was at 20 seconds which gives your camera 7 seconds to process the shot before taking the next photo? You should definitely go back when the lavender is all bloomed, I bet it will look amazing 😜
Thank you, Kate! so happy you enjoyed it! Yes, the 27 seconds gives me enough time to change the settings, as my last max exposure is 20 seconds. So I don't lose any frames during the timelapse.
I will definitely go back this year to the lavender field. It's magical at sunset and during the night! :) in the meantime: ua-cam.com/video/Gc9pxYVLh2A/v-deo.html 😉
great result! but probably you should have made the 2nd timelapse a bit lighter to better match the 1st (at least the foreground)
Thank you! I wasn't actually planning to match them, I wanted a bit of difference between the two. :)
Really great video Mattia! I enjoyed the longer format with the build up and context setting, so please do ignore that other comment 😅. The result is fantastic as well. I wanted to ask something about the focusing - I'm not so brave to open the aperture to 2.8 for fear of getting the images back into LR and seeing that I've missed the focal point - what did you focus on, and how did you ensure that the foreground and stars came out sharp? Thank you!
Thank you Martin! If it’s already dark, I’ll point to the brightest star and focusing on that. Otherwise, I check a few days before where the perfect focus is and remember where it was on the lens.
Nice result! Would be interesting to see the post-processing I think, although I'm not doing timelapses at night myself. Also, as small feedback, the blues are quite over saturated during the day portion of the shot, on my end at least, while the saturation during the night looks quite good.
Thank you Mihai, I don't touch too much the saturation, I tend to leave it as natural as possible, I think it feels more saturated cos the blue, during a blue hour is quite intense.
Quick question in the interval shooting can you actually change these settings ? My camera Sony a7r4 just says can’t change settings during shooting 😢
Hi! You should be able to change the camera settings while in Av/M mode with the internal intervalometer.. (you can’t change the interval tho) if it doesn’t let you change it, I would suggest to use an external intervalometer.
Grande come sempre e grazie ancora🙏
Grazie Tante Rino! Si esattamente, gli ISO sono gli ultimi che tocco, cosi da non avere foto con rumore all'inizio dei timelapse. 😊
@@MattiaBicchi grazie 1000🙏👍
Can't you do Milky Way in A mode to? Just have the iso change after 20 seconds?
Yes you can, but the flickering is going to be quite big during a day to milky way, I've done it in the past and even tho I liked the results if I am close to my camera, I prefer doing it manually
How do you process this afterwards, with the changes in ISO and shutterspeed?
I use LRTimelapse to smooth the changes of exposure, it's a must software for this kind of timelapse
@@MattiaBicchi aah, I suspected that 🙂 Lots of "must have" software... 🤑
Eheh yes, unfortunately there are a few! LRT has a free version, if you want to tried it, there is a 400 pics limitation..
@@MattiaBicchi thanks, yes I have used the free version before but 400 images plus limitation to HD export is no fun 🙂
@MartinFransson yes, not ideal, but for the 400 pics, there is a workaround-ish, you can edit it the last of the 400 seq and the first of the second sequence identically and it works well.. (not perfect, but still..) then the exporting you could do it Lightroom and make a video in Davinci’s free version or other video software. 👌
what happen when you need to go to the bathroom?
Ahah well, in this case I was in the middle of nowhere.. so, no issue there.. If I was in the city, I would go with someone that can check the cameras while I am gone..
5:29 - "...to check the instagram" 😄 or the histogram? or both? 🙃 nice vlog
Ahah a bit of both! Thank you! Happy you enjoyed it! 😊
