Perfect timing i was just going to reference an older reset video because im going to reset my cherry shrimp tank. Great video Mark. It couldn't of been an easy task to work and film in that tight space. Well done.
What kind of substrate is that fine black kind ... I used volcanic ash but it breaksdown .. i am thinking of switching to Seachem flourite (clay) that doesn't breakdown
Its just black diamond blasting sand, suck it out with shop vac and toss it in flower beds and replace is all I do. Substrate is not a big deal in neo tanks. You want inert plain sand or gravel substrate that does not change water parameters.
That’s a very tight area to work! Dang, I’d have a heck of a time trying that. I will try a reset on my 10 gallon this summer. I will use the substrate over again the aragonite., I’ll catch all the critters I can then vacuum the gravel probly be about a 50% -75%waterchange , but honestly I might not tank is doing so good, we will see thanks for the video mark🙂👍🏻
Thanks for watching. On these smaller 20 longs its not too bad after doing it a couple dozen times. If I could get at some of these tanks better I might do it differently like I do in my bigger tanks. But for these hard to get at tanks this is best, and probably the best way to do it, but the bigger tanks are a much much bigger deal.
Snowballs are just neos, same as any other neo shrimp. They will graze on it for sure, but they're likely to not make it dissappear unless you have 100s and 100s of shrimp. Actually seen them clean the glass of a tank, but that tank has 2000 shrimp lol.
@@MarkShellyAquaticsthanks for the reply! I definitely don’t have 1000 neocaridina shrimps. I just want an algae eating shrimp that isn’t the Amano shrimp because they can escape and jump out of water
Today at work I was thinking about doing a reset on my snowballs, funny how this video showed up. I've probably bred 200+ snowballs in the last year or so and have culled three red shrimp out of the batches. My green jades on the other hand only throw orange shrimp- no other colors so they've been retired to the skittles tank. Go figure
Many many reasons. Shrimp population, shrimp selective breeding, and tank environmental factors are the main 3. I HAVE Lots and lots of videos for you to check out about tank resets.
these are gorgeous shrimp
Thanks 👋

Thanks, yeah, its is definitely the most challenging tank I have to work on.
Wow bro your shrimp breed like magic lol
No magic, just figured out a formula ans doing it over and over again new things here and there to make it better and easier.

Any idea when you might have skittles packs back in stock?
I update stock on website every Friday. There will be more available Friday.
Mark, are you at scale where you could sell 200 (of each color you have) wholesale every other month?
Right now I am selling more on website at retail than I can keep up with, not really able to do any wholesale.
@@MarkShellyAquatics understood. thanks Mark.
Do snowball shrimps eat algae, I already have some red cherrys but they don’t do much

Maybe I’ll get an otocinclus
Do you ever deal with planaria?
No planaria

Snowballs are one of the easiest and greens are certainly the hardest to breed as lines for sure.
How often do you reset? And why?

@@MarkShellyAquatics thanks will do! :)
