A lot of people will ride the starship in the future, but few will see them prototypes in person. And yet you brought it to us closer than ever! Thank you so much for this eye candy.
We think about this EVERY day! This is such a special time and we are in awe that we are able to be here to witness and share it. There will be many more films like this in the near future!
I saw this in my feed and gasped... As someone who really enjoys 180 VR videos (and has a camera for it of my own), this is something I never thought someone would upload! Was just wishing yesterday that I could view the scale of this beast! Thank you so much for your videos!
Right?! This is the best way we've found to really translate the grandeur of Starship. So glad that worked well for you! It's incredible with an Occulus Quest!
@@Skaterfro32 That's a great tip, thank you! For anyone who wants SUPER hig-quality, we are offering the original file download for Quest (or other headset) users -- it's an exclusive Patreon member perk :) patreon.com/cosmicperspective
When I was a little kid, I would run my fingers over the smooth fuselage near the door of the jet airliner each time I was fortunate enough to be boarding one. I would marvel at the idea that the shiny metal at my fingertips had just been - and would imminently be again - seven miles above the earth, travelling at hundreds of miles per hour, in extremely low temperatures and pressures. Being so close to a stunning Starship would kinda elevate that experience! I think it makes little kids of us all. More and more beautiful work, guys - keep it up!
Simply jaw-dropping when viewed through my Rift-2. Finally, finally, I have a good idea of the sheer scale of these rockets. Many many thanks (I've just been watching you both on Everyday Astronaut's live will-they-won't-they coverage of SN-15).
I have taken the opportunity today to rewatch all your inspiring videos, and wanted to thank you. I have hope for our future thanks to what is happening with Tesla and SpaceX, and the beauty you have created with your videos brings tears to my eyes. What you have created with this channel is incredibly uplifting, and for that I am very thankful on this rough day for our country.
this was SO GREAT. thanks so much for sharing. it would be incredible to have this kind of view right up close at launch and landing, maybe even onboard. had to watch it through youtube VR on quest, and had some glitches where it skipped into a super wide FOV for moment. apart from that, a thrilling up close look!
I watched it on a VR headset, then my phone to post this comment. In VR it is much, much bigger. I knew it was big, but the VR really lets you see it. I think my VR headset was cheaper than my phone. If more channels start doing VR, I think the headsets will become as popular as TVs. Thanks for trying this new format Cosmic Perspective! (Edit - spelling)
@@olivergrabowski4278 Oliver is SO RIGHT. The thing is MASSIVE, and the scale is impossible to convey digitally. Through the VR headset is the best way we've seen thus far. We will certainly be producing way more VR films (even a full-length!) in 2021. Stay tuned :)
@@fallofboots You can watch it in 3D without a headset if you cross your eyes so both sides of the image overlap perfectly. If you don’t know what I mean, hold your hands out in front of you with a closed fist and your thumbs up. Have your left thumb at arm’s length, but directly in line with your left eye, and your right thumb at arm’s length directly in front of your right eye. If you look at either thumb, then change your focus to look out the window to an object in the distance (or at a far wall), but stay aware of your thumbs that you’re no longer focused on, you’ll notice that visually you’ll start seeing each thumb twice. If you slowly move your arms and thumbs closer to each other while keeping them lined up at the same height, you can overlap your double-vision thumbs to overlap with each other. For me, this occurs by the time my fists touch. You should now have started seeing your two thumbs in focus, then looked at something in the distance beyond your thumbs which changed the focus so you see four thumbs, then moved your hands to get two of those thumbs to overlap. At this point you should see three thumbs, as you’ve aligned it so the doubles line up. Now you should slowly try to focus on that overlapped middle thumb, so you can see it in focus. This won’t work perfectly because your left and right thumb are slightly different, so they can’t perfectly line up in reality, but it’s the practice that matters (if you want to line them up perfectly, try holding up two identical objects instead of using your thumbs, such as a couple of pencils, or coins.) To view a stereoscopic image in 3D, that’s essentially what you need to do while watching the video. Make sure to keep the phone horizontally aligned with your eyes, and choose a particular object in the image that’s distinctive and small to try to align visually - in this video the crane or human makes a good target. Once that small/distinctive target is aligned and in focus, the whole image will also be brought into focus automatically. It takes a bit of practice, but it’s absolutely fantastic to be able to watch stereoscopic 3D with just your eyes. Good luck, if you try it!
II suppose it is a matter of having to learn how to crawl before blasting off at Mach 15 ! 😁 Thanks for that, it is awesome (literally) ! The best thing next to being there.

Thanks for making this, I've been waiting and waiting for someone to create a 3DVR video of Starship! Please please please make more!
How do you not have more subscribers?! This makes me want to set up my OG Vive to see what it's like in VR! Hot damn!
break it out! Lots more VR coming, we've filmed a bunch of launches up close

Awesome! Finally got a chance to watch it on a Cardboard VR.. I think I need a real Headset now :)
