I listen to this band rarely but I love F# A# and the band's countless side-projects like A Silver Mt. Zion and Set Fire to Flames. I'm happy that the fans got what they wanted after all these years!
gy!be are one of my all time favourite bands and when all lights fucked was finally leaked and then released i screamed so loud, such an exciting time for post-rock fans and lost media fans.
Sounds like this group has a similar mentality and artistic philosophy to The Residents, who operate anonymously and have among their discography an album that they claimed was originally meant to be released "only when the group had entirely forgotten about it."
Love the story about the bachelor party. I listen to some strange music myself. I love doom metal, wave, post punk, on-board punk, hardcore, and metal of all kind in general. But there are some moments that I'm need some strange music. I have a playlist with songs i know from a movie and tv shows and yes, I'm the person who pause whatever we are watching to shazam it. And there are some strange stuff in that playlist. My boyfriend likes more classical rock and heavy metal and some death (not doom too heavy for him) so riding in my car is like russian roulette, there will be good music... Even if you don't like it. One last thing - - back in the summer of 2007 i was working in a webcaffe listening local rock radio all day. On Thursdays late afternoon there was a show called "the different choices hour" there i heard a song called Creeping up the back stairs by The Fratellis. I shared it with all my friends and few liked it as much as me. A year ago one of those friends needed me to drive him and he was 100% sure I'll be playing that same record.... And i was when i picked him up...
I can't imagine what goes through the head of people who send threats to people who have copies of lost media and are capable of uploading that shit for people to hear. Like what did you legitimately think was going to happen? The OP was just going to be cool with you threatening them?
People are weird...didn't get threatened but I ripped and uploaded a Marilyn Manson video that I've never seen anywhere else to a private tracker... Someone took it and put it on UA-cam, but with their watermark added on it and said they remastered it lol. No credit for me or my story of where it came from of course. Tbf, maybe they had a copy with the same linage, but it seemed to have the same vcr issues that my rip had when I made it so... You know... I just assumed lol. But it took the wind out of my sails a bit, like maybe I shouldn't bother uploading the next stuff I rip?
The extended story is CasketJack got cold feet, said he'd contact GSY!BA's recordlabel first to make sure they were ok with it, and refused to upload the album. That's when the threats started up.
I feel like this is perfect timing for me cause last year, my father got me tickets for their may 2022 show in Cleveland so now it feels as if I can use my first GSYBE concert as a form of celebration for this masterpiece being found
I’m really glad Efrim and Constellation decided to share this with the world. If nothing else it’s a staple of musical culture that many ought to know or learn about.
My jaw dropped when I saw this. I haven’t been keeping up with the community as much as I used to, so I had no idea this was even found. Thank you for giving me the chance to see this lol.
Oh my God, I heard about this lost album long ago, but now it's found, I wish that made me happy, but I am still worried about the war...God bless everyone!
You should include Anthony Fantano in a list, the dude's oddly prolific in losing stuff he made from unlisting thatistheplan, to a bunch of early 2009-2010 reviews because of copyright strikes, and most fascinating: a review of Breaking Benjamin's "Dark Before Dawn" that just disappeared. and not only does Anthony not know what happened to it, but he made a whole damn video on his (active) second channel about it!
I discovered both the band and the search for the cassette via the lost media wiki sometime after the two tracks were posted and I started listening to Godspeed thanks to it so I'm happy it was finally found Also it is funny the record label had the record but didn't want to release it until it was found by someone else
Now someone needs to find the Silver Jews album David Berman recorded with Scud Mountain Boys. That album would have preceded Natural Bridge. Berman apparently didn't like the direction the album went in and he scrapped it. I'm a fan of both bands and I really would like to hear it, as I'm sure a lot of Silver Jews fans would.
im more partial to slint/dirty three/bark psychosis myself but im very happy for the godspeed fans, and they are definitely one of the most important post rock bands
Its amazing how legendary this album is. Im a very surface level "fan" having only heard Lift Yr. Skinny Fists, but even i know of the album and its importance. GY!BE are so important to the modern sound of underground rock, and its amazing to see how the project originally started out.
you know what’s funny is I watched the blameitonjorge video about lost music for the first time in like a year (which had this as like number 2), then checked the lost media wiki about 20 minutes later for the first time in ages and saw that this was found
Ever since I first saw Yanqui U.X.O. at my local record store all those years ago and gave it a chance, I've been looking for All Lights Fucked On The Hairy Amp Drooling, as it's their only release I've never heard (let alone don't own). This is HUGE news!
I can understand the reasoning he didn't want to release it. I started a band with a friend, but it really was just me trying to make music and I need someone to help me make that happen. It eventually became a real band and I wouldn't want to release the shitty songs I recorded pretty much on my own.
I have a suggestion for a video. Lost Media in game shows. Since the genre is infamous for its lost pilots, shows, specials & video game adaptations that has gained for notoriety than what the genre is known for.
There is another song at least inbetween All Lights tape that kinda shows the path to F#A#Infinity, it's on the compilation they did called "Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada 5.7.96" which has one track of them with a different version of the "The car is on fire" speech. The local bands they showed on this comp were also pretty interesting and I believe that at least one or two of them are actually the band, just a different name. The tape was leaked years ago because one member of the local bands there still had the tape and just released it.
Bro make a lost media video on the Kirby series of Video games. There were multiple games in the early 2000s late 90s that were canceled. And with the new Kirby and the forgotten realm game coming out soon it would do pretty well
“Often labeled anarchists”…because they are anarchists. Anarchism isn’t some occult mysticism, we’re just normal folks who believe in caring about our friends and neighbors. Anarchism is about reading books, feeding your friends, and strengthening your community.
@@Aster_Risk There has been a conscious effort to demonize anarchism and socialism ever since the late 19th century. The trial and execution of Sacco and Venzetti comes to mind. Capitalists and religious zealots are afraid the of people collectively throwing aside their shackles and cooperating.
a journalist from the NME couldn’t believe how pop anarchist band chumbawumba fed their dog chum carrots instead of animal products & i would love to know if Godspeed have a favourite non human for company & how they manage it’s eating requirements to suit their beliefs.
One small correction: Godspeed are not simply referred to as anarchists; they *are* anarchists. It's not an insult, it's a political position: They believe in the abolition of capitalism and the state. This is not surprising given their roots in the Montréal punk scene, and is particularly evident in the lyrics of their sister band A Silver Mt. Zion. P.S. The bachelor party story is frigging hilarious.
Fun Fact: Most lost media becomes unlost when it is found
that is awesome 👍
I'm not a huge fan of the song "Amazing Grace" but I can't help but make the reference.
No shit sherlock 💀🤣
People die when they are killed
Fun how exactly?
I’m not a Godspeed fan, but I’m happy for those who are that this album has finally been found. I fully admit that I thought it was gone forever.
It's honestly pretty dumb for people to care about bands they don't like just because "lost media". What a waste of time.
This is a piece of lost media I thought would be lost forever. I’m glad it’s found and preserved!
I listen to this band rarely but I love F# A# and the band's countless side-projects like A Silver Mt. Zion and Set Fire to Flames. I'm happy that the fans got what they wanted after all these years!
you listen to the best works associated with them, good for you.
gy!be are one of my all time favourite bands and when all lights fucked was finally leaked and then released i screamed so loud, such an exciting time for post-rock fans and lost media fans.
listened to this in the morning without knowing it was lost because it appeared to me on my recommended, loved it
Sounds like this group has a similar mentality and artistic philosophy to The Residents, who operate anonymously and have among their discography an album that they claimed was originally meant to be released "only when the group had entirely forgotten about it."
I am so fascinated by The Residents. The theories about who they've had in their ranks are really fun.
Man I can only imagine how much wild lost media the Residents have
@@FearMonarch I'd be curious to know what sort of plans they had for the Mole Trilogy had they continued that project.
