Correction to intro. Xi did not volunteer but was sent to the rural village to "reform" him after his father fell foul of the party & was jailed. After he arrived he refused to cooperate or do any work. But relented (觉悟) & started cooperating w/the villagers. Was most hardworking & got along well w/all. He was well read so regaled villagers w/the knowledge he gleaned from the books, of China's history, etc, well into the night. Even as they fed him 'in exchange'. Those years were fundamental & foundational to who he is today as China's leader. Corruption & poverty were the two scourges that he knew first hand from the ground up.
Reminded me of Abe Lincoln, right education is an experience thru difficulty, that is closer to the real life. School diploma is the cosmetics with the coat of sweet sugar.

As a mid 30's Chinese girl who is lucky enough to see parts of the world, I can honestly say that China is heading further into a bad bad place. Being able to say how you feel basically doesn't exist. Women are treated terribly and are barely considered in society and work. Poverty is worse than ever, the rich are getting richer and they use money to destroy this country. There are no good social values here. China is getting more and more closed. Don't be fooled, most positive comments on this video are from the WuMao Party government group who get paid to write positive comments. I used to have this shameful job during my university time, we do this work to create national pride. We are told to hate western free media and democracy while we have none.
